One Moore Time, A Coaching Career on NCAA14

    Intro

For many of you my username might look familiar. I have been around the boards since 2007, starting with College Hoops. Career changes and new hobbies took me away from posting threads the past couple of years, but with snow piling up outside and yet another job change, and the fact that I have come to realize we will never get College Football or Basketball on the XBOX One, has led me to bring the 360 out of retirement. "One Moore Time".

I am old school (probably cause I am old, 42 this Feb) so don't expect to see lots of great graphics with Photoshop and capture cards and what not. This tread will be pretty basic, but I have found that it's become impossible for me to be able to play a coaching dynasty without sharing it with someone. I will try my best to give you enough info to feel like you can be invested and feel its worth you time to stop, read and follow along.

    Settings

    Roster
I downloaded Vikesfan roster which appears to be from 2016. I will be simming the first season and then announcing the coach I have created that will be the focus of this tread.

    Recruting

I can recruiting anyone who has my current team interest at a Top-5 team regardless of location at the start of the season.

I can recruit anyone who is a 3* or less if they are in a Pipeline State and I can recruit 1 and 2* recruits if they are in neighboring states in which I am trying to setup as Pipeline states.

I can recruit 2 players regardless of position/interest or location after Week 7 if they have not current scholarship offers.

Player scouting will the following week of a players visit to the campus.

    GAMEPLAY SETTINGS
It's been 2 years since I have played this game, on a regular basis, so I will most likely be looking at current threads to build my slider and gameplay settings from, to give me a challenging game

    RECAP

The Broncos entered 2016 with high expectations after a disappointing 9-4 finish in 2015 which saw the Broncos finish just 5-3 in the the Mountain West Conference. A 55-7 win over Northern Illinois in the Poinsettia Bowl, with FR QB B. Rypien and "MCWeapon" J. McNichols leading the way.

The question however that loomed in all Broncos fans was how well would the offense be with Coach Harsin deploying yet his 3rd OC in as many years.

Former OC Mike Sanford left Boise State after the 2014 season taking the OC job at Notre Dame. Harsin brought in Eli Drinkwitz for the 2015 season but not only did he only stay 1 year, but he took QB Ryan Finely with him to NC State after Finley lost his starting job to Rypien mid season.

Now going into 2016 it was Zach Hill joining the staff after serving at Eastern Washington the previous 7 seasons. I was a interesting choice, because rumor was Hill was all ready committed to Hawaii to be their next OC.. So the question was how long would Hill stay in Boise.

The Broncos started the year off with a trip to Seattle to face former HC Chris Peterson and the Washington Huskies, where any chance of a perfect season was put to an end with the Huskies dominating the Broncos on both sides of the ball pulling off the (35-7) victory.

In Week 2, the Broncos headed home to face instate Rival Idaho, and Coach Hill's offense shined as Boise State dominated win a (51-21) win.

The Broncos then reeled off 5 more wins to improve to 6-1, but a Week 9 loss to BYU (31-23) put the end of any thoughts of a Fiesta Bowl and then they followed it up with a very disappointing (17-14) loss to Colorado State.

At 6-3, fans were calling for Harsin's head and so far Zach Hill wasn't a fan favorite either, but 3 straight wins including a huge (45-7) win over San Diego State put the Broncos into the MWC Championship game at (9-3) with a rematch against the Aztecs.

San Diego State came out and scored the first 2 TD's of the game and led at the half (14-7), but 2 late 4th Quarter TD's by Rypien give the Broncos the win and yet another trip to the Las Vegas Bowl.

      2016 BOWL RECAP

With Coach Hill's offense finally clicking in with Rypien and McNichols, the Broncos dominated the first half of the bowl game, with Rypien throwing 3 TD's and rushing for another as the Broncos lead (28-14).

Oregon would score on the opening drive to make it (28-21) at the end of the 3rd, but the Broncos stepped on both ends of the ball in the 4th scoring 2 more TD's well shutting out the Ducks for a (42-21) win.

For the season, the Broncos finish 11-3 (8-1 MWC) and the Offense despite it's growing pains finished #3 in the Nation in total yards and #2 in passing yards as Rypien proves he has NFL petagree with 3848 yards 29 TD and 8 INT.

Despite many rumors that RB "McWeapon" Jermey McNichols was going to go Pro after his 1000 yrd and 1800 all purpose yard season with 19 TD's, the Junior chose to return.

However not all would be returning, as Coach Hill announces that he is leaving Boise State after just 1 season to take the head coaching job at New Mexico State.

Leaving Coach Harsin looking for a 4th OC in as many seasons.

        #11 IS RETURNING TO BOISE!!!!

After leaving the Boise State with a 50-3 Overall record, Kellen Moore's NFL career has been a roller coaster of success. Undrafted, Moore signed a F.A. deal with the Detroit Lions. However after 2 seasons of being on the practice squad,Moore followed former Lions OC Scott Linehan to Dallas.

2015 looked to be Moore's chance for playing time after Tony Romo broke his collar bone, but Moore would just manage to see action in 3 games including 3 starts where he would throw for 779 yds, 4 TD's and 6 INT's.

A injury setback in 2016, led way for Rookie Drake Prescott to take the the reigns as the Cowboys next star QB, with Moore likely spending the rest of his career as a backup rotating between the active and practice roster.

But in the fantasy world of the Operation Sports Forums, a different future is instake for Kellen Moore. As he instead returns to Boise State to take over as the OC for the 2017 season.

          2017 PREVIEW

The Harsin/Moore era of Boise State football should get off to a decent start as the Broncos land the #25 Overall Recruiting Class with a total of 20 players (4-4*,11-3* and 5-2*) committing to the Blue.

Headlining the class is 4-4* prospects including 2 instate locals and maybe the Broncos future QB?

DT Derek Sutherland comes in as the most highly rated. (78 Overall) out of Sandpoint Idaho. The Broncos are super deep at the tackle position with JR David Moa (81), SR A. Silsby(80), and a pair of RS FR S. Lui (79) and C. Weaver (74) returning, so Sutherland will most likely redshirt this season and look to challenge Lui for a starting job in 2018.

CB Avery Williams comes in rated 78 Overall. A former RB/CB in high school, Williams will suit up as a DB for the Broncos as a starter in 2017, but even more importantly he will also be the primary return man on punts (96 speed and 96 ACC) and secondary on kickoffs with "McWeapon"

6'4 215 llb Marcus Lee came to Boise without a position. The former QB/RB/WR from Cheyenne, was recruited because Coach Harsin didn't want to face him as a Cowboy for the next 4 years. His pitch to Lee was trust me we will find you a spot to play. Well after alot of debate, the former 4* ended up with #85 as he will look to replace school record breaker Thomas Sperbeck in the starting lineup opposite SR C. Wilson in 2017. (Lee was rated a 81 at all 3 positions)

5'11 Luke Colllins like Lee played multiple positions through his career at Sky View High in Nampa Idaho, including 2 seasons under center. Dreaming of following in the footsteps of Kellen Moore and playing QB at BSU was a dream of Collins and now it looks like it could be a reality as Harsin and Moore agree Collins will enter the 2017 season as the backup to starter M. Rypien. He comes in as a 77 Overall with 86 SPD,82 THP and 78 THA

          BRONCOS ANNOUNCE 2017 SCHEDULE

**(I originally was going to try and duplicate the real life schedule, but I could get it to work so instead I went with a mix of past and future stuff that will come into play)**

The Broncos will kickoff the Coach Moore era in the National Spotlight with a matchup vs #18 Ole Miss in the Chick Fil A Kickoff game.

The Broncos home opener will be against Former OC Zach Hill and the New Mexico State Aggies on (9/13)

The Broncos will then have a rematch game vs Coach Peterson and the #4 Washington Huskies on 9/20 as well as a home game vs Rival BYU on Oct 11th.

Boise State will kickoff MWC play with 3 straight home games vs Colorado State (9/27), Fresno State (10/18) and San Diego State (10/25), then they will play 3 straight away games @ New Mexico (11/1), @ Nevada (11/8) @ Wyoming (11/15) before returning home to face Utah State (11/22). They close on regular season play @ Air Force on 11/29.

College Hoops was and always will be my first love, but College Football is a close 2nd. I have been sick all weekend so for the past 3 days all I have been doing is watching bowl games along with some college hoops. So being how the 360 was already fired up with some CH2K8 in it figured I could dust of the NCAA14 as well.

Thanks. They got some good pieces to work with and no matter who the HC or OC has been in the past we have been able to pull in some decent recruits, but what i am finding to be the biggest challenge so far, is being just the OC, I don't always have the call on 4th down and obviously have zero control over how the defense plays.

                    HEART BREAKER IN ATLANTA

                    GAME RECAP

The Coach Moore Era started out strong as Boise State takes a 17-0 lead into the half, despite losing starting QB Brett Rypien in the 1st series.

Rypien would leave the game completing 3/4 pass's for 42 yards in with true freshman Luke Collins taking over. Collins would complete 5 of his first 6 attempts including a 10 yd pass to FR WR J. Carter to put the Broncos on the board with 4:08 in the 1st Quarter.

BSU would struggle to move the ball in the 3rd Quarter as Collins throws 2 INT, but including what almost turned into a pick 6 if it hadn't been for a last minute tackle by C. Wilson. The Rebels would still manage to score making it (17-7), but the Broncos would manage a 22 yd FG at the end of the Quarter to make it (20-7).

In the 4th, Collins would have moments of looking like Moore (throwing for almost 200 yds) but also showed freshman mistakes (his 3rd INT). However the Rebels showed why they were a preseason Top-25 team as Ole Miss puts up back to back TD's to take the (21-20) lead with less then a minute to play.

Collins would have have his chance to become a hero as he surpass's 400 yds in his first college game, but on a 4th and 8 attempt the ball is locked loose from C. Wilson's hands as he goes over the middle to make the catch. FINAL SCORE OLE MISS-21 BOISE STATE-20

                    KEY PLAYERS
                    QB L. Collins-28/44 419 yds 1 TD 3 INT
                    RB J. McNichols-25 carries 53 yds 1 TD

                    WR A. Buter-7 rec 120 yds
                    WR J. Carter-5 rec 117 yds 1 TD
                    TE J. Roh-4 rec 72 yds

                    Coach Moore after the game
"Honestly I felt like Luke played a really good game for as prepared as we had him. It's never a good thing to lose your starting QB in a matchup with a very good nationally ranked SEC team like Ole Miss, and have to turn to a true freshman. The trainers have ruled out Brett for our game against New Mexico State as well saying its a strained pectoral, so with the bye week next week, it will give us 2 alot of time to prepare Luke for his first start"

                      BRONCOS WIN HOME OPENER!!

                      GAME RECAP
For former Broncos's OC Zach Hill this will be a game he hopes to forget soon. The Aggies were coming off a 0-12 season, but things were looking up as Coach Hill guided to the Aggies to a Week 1 win over Rice (30-27). For Boise and new OC Kellen Moore, this will be a game where hopefully history will be started.

Boise State would take the (7-0) lead as "McWeapon" Jermey McNichols scores on a 7 yd run with 2:42 to play in the 1st.

The 2nd Quater was all Boise State, as the Broncos tally 3 more scores including 2 more runs by McNichols (2yds and 5 yds) along with a 6 yd pass from Collins to Roh to make it (28-0) at the half.

The Aggies offense woes would continue in the 2nd half as well and with 58 seconds to play in the 3rd, it was FR RB A. Mattison running it in from 1 yd out in a wildcat formation to make it (35-0).

The Broncos would then open the 4th Quarter with yet another score this from the air as Collins finds WR A. Richardson for a 26 yd score to make it (42-0) with 4:45 to play.

Knowing that a player can get hurt at any moment any play, Coach Moore pulled out the starters, with RS FR Jake Constantine taking over at QB and SR R. Wolphin leading the way in the backfield. Wolphin would end up carrying the ball 8 times for 27 yds, with FR A. Mattison also getting a few more carries as the Broncos looked to run out as much clock as possible, but with less then a minute to play, it was J. Constantine going to the air to complete his first pass of the game on his 3rd attempt as he completes a 18 yd strike to Richardson for his 2nd TD of the game. FINAL SCORE BSU-49 NMSU-0

                      KEY PLAYERS
                      QB L. Collins-26/41 431 yds 2 TD
                      RB J. McNichols-25 carries 85 yds 3 TD, 5 rec 36 yds
                      RB A. Mattison-9 carries 46 yds 1 TD
                      WR J. Carter-5 rec 96 yds
                      WR M. Lee-5 rec 98 yds
                      WR A. Richardson-4 rec 76 yds 2 TD
                      TE J. Roh-3 rec 56 yds

                      Coach Moore after the game
"The offense played great, Collins was amazing and didn't have any mistakes. I don't think I passed for 400+ yds in my first 2 games of my career. Jeremy did a great job of balancing the offense giving us some big carries on the ground and I was really impressed with how Luke spread the ball around with 7 different players making more then 1 catch each. However it doesn't matter how good the offense is, when the Defense plays as great as they did tonight. Any time you limit a team to just 10 1st downs, and only 213 total yards of offense, you should be able to win games."

COACH MOORE VS COACH PETE PART I

                        GAME PREVIEW

This game would mark the first of what hopefully is many meetings between the pupil and his mentor. In Moore's college career his managed a 50-3 record as the QB for Boise State, well his coaching career was off to a 1-1 start as a OC.

For the Huskies, they started the year out at #4 in the nation being led by a pair of Heisman hopefulls in JR RB Myles Gaskin and JR QB Jake Browning.

Washington won their season opener over Hawaii (21-3) in Week 1 on the road, and then beat #20 UCLA in Week 2 at home, but a Week 3 loss to #9 Stanford (31-38) saw the Huskies drop in the poll to #6 leaving everyone knowing that 1 more loss and their hopes for a National Title would be over.

For Boise State it was all talk of Coach Pete vs Kellen for most news talk radio, so the return of QB B. Rypien flew under the radar. Now the question is how well would Rypien do playing in what hopefully will be hist first full game of action.

                        GAME RECAP

Rypien's return wasn't what he had hoped it would be. 2-1st Quarter INT stalled offensive drives near the endzone which in turn lead to a (14-0) Washington lead as Gaskin and Browning did their thing.

Rypien would finally get the Broncos on the scoreboard with a 6 yd TD pass to C. Wilson with 7 mins to play in the 2nd Quarter, but a TD run by Gaskins with 1 minute to play gave the Huskies the (21-7 lead). With a minute to play, Coach Moore knew Rypien could get his team down field for a chance to score, and well it looked like it was a going to happen after 3 straight completions, Rypien's 4th attempt would fall into the hands of Safetly Bubba Baker, leaving UW 20 seconds to score and only 21 yds away.

It took only 8 seconds as Browning found Gaskin on a pass over the middle as the Huskies go into the locker room up (28-7).

Many wondered if Rypien should start the 2nd half. With Freshman QB Luke Collins proving he could play with over 800 yds in this first 2 games, was Rypien's starting job in jeopardy?

The Huskies opened the 3rd Quarter playing ball control as both teams failed to put the ball in the endzone finally with 1:43 play Washington would add to their lead with a 30 yd FG (31-7).

With just 1 quarter to play and both the offense and defense struggling, Broncos fans were starting to lose hope. Time after time, dropped pass's would plague the Boise State offense as they were forced to punt on their first 3 positions. Now with less then 5 minutes to play and still trailing by 24, fans were starting to walk out. For those that didn't leave then, they soon did as Rypien throws his 4th INT of the game inside the endzone yet again. UW goes the length of the field as Browning complete's his 3rd TD pass of the game. (38-7).

Coach Moore had seen enough. He was going to need Brett Rypien moving forward but there was no reason to send him back out to take a bigger beating. Collins would enter the game and complete 1 of 3 passes before turning the ball over on downs.

UW also would put in their subs with less then 2 minutes play, but Coach Pete didn't take his foot off the scoring pedal as the Huskies add a 1 yd TD run by J. Dotson in the final minute of the game. FINAL SCORE UW-44 BSU-7

There is a reason why Browning and Gaskin are in the Heisman talk and why both are rumored to be going pro after this season. I appreciate everything Coach Pete did for me as a player but the next time we meet on the field as coaches, I hope he knows it will be war"

AROUND THE NATION RECAP AFTER WEEK 4

We are only 4 weeks into the 2017 season, but for many teams their dreams of a National Title are already over as the Top-25 Poll has 14 undefeated teams battling for #1.

The Coaches Poll and Media Poll currently disagree who is #1..

The Coaches vote is Michigan receiving 38 votes was they are a perfect 3-0 including a (28-24) win over #17 Notre Dame (now 3-1)

The Media however likes Oklahoma who is also 3-0 including a (24-19) win over #15 Tennessee (now 2-2)

Both polls agree that (4-0) Ohio State is #3. The Bucks survived a Week 1 defeat beating Navy in OT (37-34) before reeling off wins over Cincy, Kent State and V.T. all at home.

The Coaches like (2-1) Clemson at #4 despite the Tigers Week 1 loss to rival Georgia (24-16) on the road, especially coming off a (38-24) win over Alabama at home in Week 3.

Bu the Media prefers perfection as they tab (3-0) Florida State at #4, even though all 3 wins have been at home vs unranked opponents. (Oklahoma State,Georgia State, and Pitt)

(3-1) Washington is the clearcut #6 team in both polls after their domination of Boise State on the Blue.

The Media also love the rest of the Pac-12 as well putting (4-0) USC at #7, (1-1) Stanford at #8 and (3-1) Washington State at #9

Auburn moves up from #18 to #10 after they improve to 4-0 with a OT victory over #12 Texas A&M. The Aggies are now 2-1 on the year.

(2-1) LSU stays at #11 after their (34-0) win over #19 Mississippi State. With the loss the Bulldogs drop to #23 and a (2-2) record.

Ole Miss improves to (4-0) on the year after their opening win against Boise State, the Rebels have won 3 straight including a (14-10) win over #18 Florida at home dropping the Gators to (2-2) on the year. as they are currently #13 in the Media Poll

Joining Ole Miss in the Top-25 with perfect records are
#14 Kansas State (2-0) however they face #10 Auburn this week.

#16 Florida Atlantic is off to a 4-0 start with 3 wins on the road (Nebraska,Wyoming and Alabama) plus a home win over E. Michigan

#18 Marshall moves up from #22 as they too are (4-0)

Syracuse takes over the #22 spot as they enter the poll with a 2-0 record after beating #11 LSU.

Texas is #24 after a 3-0 start including a win over #21 UCLA in Week 2

BRONCOS OPEN UP MWC PLAY WITH A "W"

                            GAME RECAP

Coming off a very disappointing loss to Washington as JR QB Brett Rypien struggled in his return from a Week 1 injury, all questions were pointed at Coach Moore and who the Broncos would start at QB.

                            Coach Moore
"I sat down with Coach Harsin and the rest of the staff before the game and we all agreed. Luke Collins has a future with Boise State and the potential to one day be a starter, but Brett Rypien is a present and gives us the best chance at winning ball games, whether fans agree or not. We will look to keep Luke involved in the game probably playing him a series here and there, but overall Brett Rypien is our man moving forward"
The Broncos would open the game with the ball, but a dropped ball on 3rd and 6 force BSU to turn to Freshman Kicker D. Stephens who connects from 42 yds out to put the Broncos on the scoreboard (3-0).

Colorado State makes it (7-3) with a minute to play, but a huge 62 yd run by "McWeapon" gives the Broncos the (10-7) lead going into the 2nd Quarter.

The 2nd Quater was all Brett Rypien as the Juniors throws 2 scores (22 yd to C. Wilson and a 6 yd to M. Lee) as Boise State takes the 24-7 lead into the half.

In the 3rd Quarter it was Rypien to Lee again this time from 4 yds out to make it (31-7). The Broncos would add another FG by D. Stephens mid way through the 4th Quarter from 35 yds out to make it (34-7), but with just 12 seconds to play the defense gives up a 4 yd TD pass from N. Steven to S. Long.FINAL SCORE BSU-34 CSU-14

                              A HOUSE DIVIDED!!!

With Idaho struggling to even maintain a Division I football program, the rivalry between Boise State and BYU has become by far the biggest in the state. Even though BYU isn't located in Idaho, it does have a BYU/Idaho campus and many of Boise residents are graduates of the Mormon faith based school.

BSU and QB B. Rypien wasted little time putting points on the board as Rypien finds SR WR C. Wilson twice for scores in the 1st Quarter (3 yd and 53 yd) to give BSu the (14-0 lead). Former Boise (well Eagle) prep star Tyler Mangum however answered back throwing a 53 yd bomb to H. Marshall to make it (14-7). Boise would answer back with a 39 yd FG by D. Stephens to make it (17-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter.

Neither team would find the endzone in the 2nd Quarter as both teams settle for FG's, making it (20-10) at the half.

BYU would be the only team to score in the 3rd Quarter as dropped pass's plagued the Boise State offense making it (20-17) going into the 4th.

Magnum would open the 4th, with his 3rd TD pass of the game to give BYU th lead (24-17) but a Rypien TD pass to J. Roh from 46 yds out would give the Broncos the lead back (27-24) and with 1 minute to play, FR A. Mattison would seal the victory with a 1 yd TD run.FINAL SCORE BSU-34 BYU-24
