Finished my 3rd year (2nd full season) at FK Třinec in the Czech 2nd division, and it was a great season. So great, in fact, that we're no longer in the Czech 2nd division! For the first time in Třinec's history, they'll be playing in the top flight of Czech football.
It may have helped that I had a striker on loan from Sparta Praha who was WAY above the class of the league. I run a 4-4-2, and together my 2 striker combo scored a ridiculous 60 goals. The 2nd highest scoring TEAM in the league this year scored 50 goals.
I ended up finishing 2nd in the table. After holding steady in the upper-mid table (which I was very happy with), we came out in the 2nd half of the season and went on a great run of form. The promotion playoff was barely even a contest, won that easily to clinch promotion.
Set club records for points and goals. I was also happy to see our defensive record improve. Last year we gave up 54 goals, only 42 this year. Also, best of all, we got a bunch of money from a new sponsorship (for being promoted, I assume), and we're actually in the black now, which means the club finally has money to send me on a coaching course! So I am studying for my National C License.
The club also announced that they are expanding our ground, as well. It currently seats 2,200 and they're adding 3,250 seats, so we'll be at roughly 5,500 for capacity. Attendance went up this year, but we still averaged just under 1,000 this season. So plenty of room for new fans, lol.
I'm unsure as of right now if I'm going to continue at Třinec or not. I have had a couple interviews with 2 Greek clubs, that would be interesting. But, it would be a fun challenge to see if I can keep Třinec up in the 1st division. Given the shaky financial situation, staying up in the top flight could be so crucial for them, so I'd like to be able to accomplish that.
