I'm starting a new Franchise, moving a team out of New York (Jets) and across the border.

Would you say this is a realistic Expansion Draft, if not, what would you change?

The only thing as a gut reaction is I'm not sure I could see Clay Matthews unprotected by the Packers in real life. But I know his contract is a massive cap hit for an aging OLB so it's possible I guess.

I can vouch for both of those NYG players being left unprotected for sure. New York would be happy to move on from them, taking cap relief and no penalties.

Thanks mate. Pretty much his age and decline was the only reason I put him in! Say, he's on the border. Would you have any other suggestions?

I created a roster then relocated in Year 2.

So I'd have a set of criteria in my head and look for people teams would realistically let loose. Then in the Roster screen I'd start trading those for the players I already had. Started the Franchise, released everyone else, filled out my roster with FAs in the 3rd week then applied for re-location

Why doesn't Madden have a two team expansion option already in the game that DOESN'T involve moving a current NFL team? Why can't we have an option to expand the league to 34 teams? This should be in, IMHO, because it will add SERIOUS replay value to CFM.

I agree with Seth, I don't think the Packers would let Clay Matthews go. I also don't think the Bucs would let Ayers go either, as he has been a good player for them, and Cole Beasley from the Cowboys I think is a long shot to be able to get.

I could see Ayers possibly being made available, he's a declining DE on the wrong side of 30 in the last year of his contract.

I could see the Packers breaking either way with Matthews, on one hand... he seems like he's one of those fan favorites who would be kept until it was obvious he was cooked... but he is still productive enough I think. On the other hand, it's a big contract.

Brent Celek and Marcedes Lewis ... I'd almost think they'd retire before reporting to an expansion team... but I can understand them being made available.

I quite like them both in terms of young, developmental prospects.

Just chiming in on Clay Matthews..

He hasn't played well the last couple years. Nowhere near the player he once was.

Scheme is part of that, the Packers were/are so devoid of players he had to play a different role than the kamikaze pass rusher.. but he's making a pretty good living off past performance.
