Harris was injured when former Tulane RB Deuce Monroe brought him down on this borderline horse collar tackle following a fumble recovery.

Tulane | Senior DT Harris likely to miss remainder of 2025
    Wed, 5 Nov 2025 09:10:01 -0700

report courtesy Erin Andrews, FOX Sports

Erin Andrews of FOX Sports reports that Tulane starting redshirt senior DT Micah Harris (84 ovr), who left last week's game versus Alabama with a reported chest injury, will miss the remainder of the regular season, and possibly more. According to Andrews, who oddly still seems to get Tulane inside scoop all the time despite being an NFL reporter, Harris visited a specialist in Philadelphia this week that made the determination that he suffered a grade 2 pectoral injury, which typically comes with an 8 to 10 week recovery rate.

Harris, 5-11 331 pounds and a 4-star recruit, had become a surprise star this season for the Green Wave after not playing most of his first four seasons at the school, and leads the team with 5 sacks on the season, while also postng 27 tackles.

The Red Springs, NC native's injury is a significant blow for the Wave's already-leaky run defense, which is currently ranked 91st in the nation and has struggled mightily against running backs. Harris will be replaced by redshirt freshman DT Byron Henderson (81 ovr) in the team's 3-4 base defense, while true freshman DT Brandon Callahan (78 ovr) will play as the second defensive tackle in the team's sub packages. The team will also now activate true freshman DT Jerry Anderson (72 ovr), who had spent all of this season thus far as a redshirt.

"You really hurt for a guy like Micah," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy to Andrews via text. The kid waited patiently for all this time and as a 5th year senior he finally got his shot, and now this happens. This is very unfortunate; not only is this a blow for our team football-wise, but he was also an emotional leader for us.

"Quite honestly, watching the tape, I thought the chicken **** way he got tackled by Deuce Monroe looked a little fishy at first and frankly, the more times we watched it, I thought it was dirty."

Tompkins' injury plagued senior season appears to have cost him a Heisman opportunity.

Tulane | RB Tompkins falls out of Heisman picture
    Thu, 6 Nov 2025 21:31:19 -0700

    report courtesy Dianna Russini, ESPN

Dianna Russini of ESPN reports that Tulane senior RB Tony Tompkins has all but been eliminated from Heisman consideration after a rough month of October. Marred by a pectoral injury suffered in the final minutes of a 27-22 win over Florida at the Swamp back on October 4th, Tompkins' numbers have fallen off drastically following a hot start to the season.

After Saturday's 6-carry 0-yard effort versus Alabama, his first game back from the injury, Tompkins now stands at 597 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns on 74 carries while also adding 11 receptions for 238 yards along with 2 punt return touchdowns with only four games remaining. The former 4-star recruit out of Cutler Ridge, Florida has missed two full games due to his injury versus the Gators, and followed it up with the worst statistical performance of his career last weekend versus the Crimson Tide.

Notre Dame QB George Hardin, Notre Dame WR Chad Harris, Oklahoma TE Bryan Campbell, Boise St. WR Michael Meyer, and TCU QB Marcus Matthews round out ESPN's latest Heisman Watch installment.

Game 9, Year 16 Preview (2025 season): #7 Tulane at #9 Southern Miss

      GAME 9 PREVIEW

      Courtesy

RIVALRY GAME: THE BATTLE FOR THE BELL

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

      ....................1 1/2....................

2024: Redshirt freshman QB Jimmy McBride's (LEFT) 72-yard touchdown completion to WR Brandon McIntyre (RIGHT) made the score 28-14 and began a second half scoring onslaught.

Last Meeting: Last season, then-#20 Tulane came out on fire from start to finish, easily disposing of rival Southern Miss 42-17 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. QB Jimmy McBride, then a redshirt freshman, had arguably the best performance of his young career, going 21 of 27 for 395 yards and 5 touchdowns versus the 6th ranked Golden Eagles' beleaguered defense. Former Wave WR Brandon McIntyre also had a career day, catching 5 passes for 217 yards for 2 touchdowns, as his team improved its record versus USM to 9-4 under 16th year head coach D. Geezy.

2023: Tulane QB Obi Clemons displays his anguish after he was stuffed at the goal line by MLB Josh Perry (#52) on a potential game-tying two point conversion attempt late in the game.

Last Meeting at Venue: In the 2023 regular season finale, #6 Tulane fell behind 14-3 to unranked Southern Miss and never recovered, getting upset by their former Conference USA rivals 42-33 at chilly Hattiesburg. QB Obi Clemons' 5-yard touchdown run with 4:02 remaining cut his team's deficit to 35-33, however he was stuffed on a potential game-tying two point conversion option play. Golden Eagles star RB C.J. Ivey's 63-yard touchdown run with less than two minutes remaining helped clinch the Golden Eagles' third straight victory in Hattiesburg over the Green Wave.

2017: Former Wave and current New Orleans Saints all-pro CB Tommy Andrews caught an interception and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown during Tulane's last win in Hattiesburg, some eight seasons ago.

Last Meeting III (Legacy Classic): Southern Miss held eventual Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Moore to just 7 yards on 4 carries and just 8 yards on 4 receptions, but in the end it did not matter, as Tulane steamrolled through the Golden Eagles 55-21 at Hattiesburg in 2017. Former Tulane great Jamie Manning finished 14 of 21 for 259 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception and the Wave got two standout performances from members of its defense - Then-sophomore FS Dre Harris ended the game with 10 tackles , 1 sack, and 1 interception while then-sophomore CB Tommy Andrews, an Avondale, Louisiana native once hailed as the #1 recruiting prospect in the nation, returned an interception 74 yards for a touchdown with just 0:39 to go in the half, making the score 27-14 at halftime. Tulane would go on to outscore Southern Miss 21-0 in the third quarter, with then-freshman backup RB Bernie Davis providing the exclamation point at the end of the quarter via an 80-yard touchdown run that all but sealed the game versus their former Conference USA rivals. Tulane has not won a game in Hattiesburg ever since, losing each of their last three contests.

      Head Coach D. Geezy's Take

Tulane head coach D. Geezy addressed the media Thursday afternoon after practice.

This is a game that they need just as much as we need it. With a win, Southern Miss could put themselves right into the thick of the national title conversation.

This is a team that we've had problems with at their place as of late and we haven't won a game there in what feels like decades ago. QB Tony Nealy is a player that we haven't seen since he was a true freshman starting against us back in '21 as an injury replacement. He ripped us apart that day for 370+ yards, and more importantly, didn't turn the ball over. He was terrific that day and they beat us 35-28 back then.

They have a ton of speed and experience on both sides of the ball. We'll need to get out to a fast start and hopefully control the pace early, because if you let a team like this get the lead and get that fast tempo going, it could become a long day.

This is as must win as they come, and we expect another dogfight with these guys.

      - Tulane head coach D. Geezy

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul

Tidal wave is such a cool concept, I think you're the only guy to invent his own rivalry game that actually sounds like it could be real. LOL.

The continuing storylines with Deuce are insane, it stinks to lose, but what a performance by him. To see that he also wrecked Tulane and the team probably won't be able to get any sort of revenge (as well as injuring a guy to add insult to injury) is pretty crazy. Just another thing that makes this the best out there. I'm sure you discussed it previously but I didn't read it or know, did you have to do that manually? Or did he actually transfer after a really good freshman season?

One last thing about that game, the photo of him brushing off Harrison is a great one, it really stands out for me. I cant' wait for the Southern Miss report. I think it's high time for some revenge.

Thanks for the compliments as always man, and glad you like the Tidal Wave Party concept. I just thought of it on a whim, and once I decided that that's what I was going to call it, I did a quick google search using the words Tidal Wave to see what came up, and sure enough, a logo for a Florida water park called Tidal Wave Party appeared, and the rest is history.

Deuce's transfer was all natural (click here for the article I did when he transferred). No idea how or why it happened video game-wise, but it did. He was a big time player for us as a true freshman, but I guess he did not like that he was technically our #2 running back. He was recruited out of the state of Alabama, and the whole thing just happened organically on its own and he went back to his home state Crimson Tide. The only user interference involved was the fact that I did not try to get him to stay since that's one of my rules, along with, of course, the humanizing back-and-forth banter to make the transfer seem more real. I too am amazed by just how much this subplot has taken on a life of its own. If not for his departure, I honestly think we would have had another national title by now.

Glad to have you following along on this brother; thanks again for the great feedback.

Now it is time to get it on with Southern Miss, even though I am running on fumes after riding in Mardi Gras parades both Friday night and Saturday night!

Game 9, Year 16 (2025 season): #7 Tulane Green Wave at #9 Southern Miss Golden Eagles

RIVALRY GAME: THE BATTLE FOR THE BELL

            #7 27 -- x7-2
            #9 49 -- 10-0

Just as he did 4 years ago as a true freshman, Southern Miss redshirt senior QB Kevin Nealy carved up the Green Wave defense, this time throwing for a whopping 481 yards and 3 touchdowns.

#7 Tulane unable to overcome its Hattiesburg bugaboo, humiliated in 49-27 rout that was never really close | QB Nealy, RB Ivey each have career games as Golden Eagles' aggressive no huddle attack shreds Green Wave for Geezy-era high 705 yards of total offense | Fourth straight loss at M.M. Roberts Stadium ousts Tulane from the national title conversation | Also now eliminated from SEC West contention by virtue of Bama win over LSU, nothing but pride on the line for the Wave next week at #20 Arkansas

Hattiesburg, MS -- Four seasons ago, a true freshman quarterback threw for 371 yards and 2 touchdowns, guiding Southern Miss through a torrential downpour to a 35-28 upset win over Tulane in Hattiesburg. Four seasons later, Golden Eagles QB Kevin Nealy, now the team's starter rather than an injury replacement as he was in 2021, threw for a career-high 481 yards and 3 touchdowns, leading 9th ranked USM to a dominant 49-27 victory over reeling Tulane at cold and rainy M.M. Roberts Stadium. Nealy, now a redshirt senior, was helped by fellow redshirt senior RB C.J. Ivey, who finished with 221 yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns, as Southern Miss (10-0) used its spread no huddle attack to gash the overwhelmed Wave for over 700 yards of total offense.

Southern Miss senior RB C.J. Ivey has feasted on Tulane's defense for years, rushing 78 times for 522 yards and 6 touchdowns over the span of four games.

After the two teams traded long distance field goal misses to start the game, Nealy got to work. His 59-yard touchdown pass to WR Mark Rosario gave the Golden Eagles a 7-0 lead, and they'd never trail. Rosario finished the game with 6 receptions for a game-high 139 receiving yards.

A 12-yard second quarter run by Ivey would get followed up by a 4-yard touchdown pass from Nealy to freshman TE Maurice Simmons, as USM amassed a 21-6 halftime lead.

Down by 15 and needing a defensive stop to start the second half and perhaps try to gain some semblance of momentum, Tulane got the exact opposite. Nealy would lead his team on a lightning-quick 5-play 80-yard drive that lasted only 50 seconds and culminated with a 9-yard touchdown run by Ivey that extended the lead to 28-6.

"They just did whatever they wanted to do to us. It's almost like we didn't prepare one bit," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy, who was picked up by ESPN television cameras being involved in a heated exchange with defensive coordinator Karl Dunbar midway through the third quarter, to the point where the two men had to be restrained by several players and coaches.

"Sure we are a dome team and we aren't used to playing in these conditions, but we can't use weather as an excuse, because they surely seemed to have no problems with it."

Nealy's 6-yard touchdown pass to WR Alton Wright made the score 35-6. Then, following a fumble by RB Tony Tompkins deep Tulane territory, Ivey's 1-yard touchdown plunge would make the score 42-6, blowing the game wide open.

The loss for Tulane was its fourth straight in Hattiesburg, a losing streak that dates back to 2019. The Green Wave has not defeated their former Conference USA foes at M.M. Roberts Stadium since 2017.

QB Jimmy McBride and senior CB Tyler Harrison walked off the field together with their heads held down after Tulane lost its fourth straight game in Hattiesburg.
"We have to give credit where credit is due and acknowledge that USM has assembled a very good team and has one of the best homefield advantages in all of college football. Let's not pretend that this isn't a 10-0 team," said Geezy.

"That said, for us to lose the way we did, is just flat-out inexcusable."

The Green Wave would go on to score 21 points in the game's final quarter and a half. McBride's 72-yard touchdown pass to WR Adam Lawson made the score 49-27, but it was too little too late for the Wave. McBride finished with a season-high 370 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, but his second interception of the game, thrown to Southern Miss freshman CB Antonio Knox with under three minutes to go, clinched the Wave's second straight loss after being ranked the top team in the country just two weeks ago.

Unfortunately for the Wave, due to Alabama's 41-16 win over LSU this weekend, they are now eliminated from SEC West division contention, and are playing merely for pride rather than a championship.

"To say we're upset would be an understatement," said Geezy.

"We do this for championships, and yes maybe a BCS bowl berth is still on the table, but for us to not win the SEC for a fourth straight year and to now pretty much be eliminated from national title consideration, it's disappointing. We are just very disappointed. There's no other way to put it.

"Three weeks ago, we were the #1 team in the country, so we know what we are doing here. But this isn't our first time starting hot and faltering down the stretch. Clearly, we're not doing something right when we get into these last season situations and we need to figure it out soon."

Tulane (7-2) will travel next week to face #20 Arkansas in Fayetville. The Green Wave lost to the Razorbacks 41-38 last season at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Notes: Tulane's 705 total yards allowed defensively Saturday night obliterated the team's previous most allowed under head coach D. Geezy by nearly 100 yards. The previous-high was 607, given up during the team's 48-24 SEC title game loss to South Carolina in 2020 ...Senior RB Tony Tompkins, still battling his pectoral injury sustained over a month ago, rushed for 29 yards on six carries, as he was limited this week after being listed as "questionable" for a second straight game. Geezy indicated after the game however that he expects Tompkins' workload to increase next week....Redshirt senior reserve LB Dee Ervin tore his MCL while making a fourth quarter kickoff coverage tackle, his first tackle of the season. The injury will require surgery, according to Geezy, and he will miss the remainder of the season.

Redshirt senior RB C.J. Ivey did what so many other backs have done to defensive coordinator Karl Dunbar's defense this season and dominated, finishing with 221 scrimmage yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.

Southern Miss redshirt senior QB Kevin Nealy, making his first appearance against the Green Wave since 2021 as a true freshman, prepares to take the field.

USM players did not let the rain or near-freezing temperatures stop them from getting hyped up before the game.

Golden Eagles senior WR Mark Rosario's 59-yard catch-and-run touchdown reception put his team up 7-0 and got the scoring binge started.

One of Saturday night's only bright spots for Tulane, MLB Mario Young finished with 15 tackles, including 4 tackles for loss and a sack. The senior New Orleans native leads the nation with 88 tackles and is tied for the team lead with 5 sacks.

RB C.J. Ivey not only shredded Tulane on the ground with 125 yards and a career-high 3 touchdowns, but he also contributed a career-high 8 receptions for 96 yards.

QB Kevin Nealy was in the zone Saturday night, and had the best game of his career yardage-wise, throwing for 481 yards along with 3 touchdowns.

RB Tony Tompkins, playing through pain for the past month with a pectoral injury, was still limited by the ailment and finished with 29 yards on only 6 carries.

Tulane starting FS Terrell Faulk was dragged into the end zone by Ivey on this 9-yard third quarter touchdown that extended the Golden Eagles' lead to 28-6 early in the third quarter.

DT Brandon Callahan's strip-sack of Nealy resulted in a fumble recovery by reserve CB Benny Smith that was returned 77 yards for a touchdown. Smith's second fumble recovery touchdown this season cut the Wave's deficit to 42-20 early in the fourth quarter.

WR Adam Lawson's 72-yard touchdown made the score 49-27 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late. Lawson finished with 132 yards on only 4 receptions.

Southern Miss CB Antonio Knox, a player once recruited hard by Tulane, caught the game-sealing interception off a deflection with less than three minutes remaining.

Southern Miss OG David Reynolds (#63) celebrates with fellow OG Adam Warren (#64), another player Tulane once recruited heavily, as the game's final seconds tick off the clock.

The Southern Miss bench and fans poured onto the field after beating their former Conference USA rivals for a fourth straight time at M.M. Roberts Stadium.

Man, we knew Southern Miss was going to be a tough one, but getting down 42-6 is worse than I think anyone expected. Glad Ivey is a senior, feels like he's been there for 15 years. Kind of like Duke basketball players from the early 2000's. "Shane Battier is STILL there?!"

Tulane's got to rebound, and I know you mentioned that Geezy's seat was warming up after the loss to Bama, but Karl Dunbar's got to be sitting in the middle of a forest fire at the moment.

Oh man, hate those games where the defense just packs it in. 705 yards of offense... Been there and done that most likely. I'd have to check the stats, but it seems about right. As mentioned above, we're waiting to see if the DC makes it out of this. I have to give you credit, your game reports aren't notably shorter after losses. That's something I do a lot of times, lose, and basically have the report say "I LOST. LEAVE ME ALONE." LOLOL. Hoping for a big bounce-back. There's more than just pride on the line, a 10-win season, recruiting glory, and not having it all fall apart. Good luck!

Yeah that 42-6 shocked the hell out of me too. At 21-6, at 28-6, heck even at 35-6 I was like "still plenty of time left." But when it got to 42-6, suddenly I was like "damn these dudes are kicking our a**!"

Good comparison on the Shane Battier. Ivey has been a thorn in our sides, and thankfully he is graduating. They have some good backs coming up behind him though. They've quietly become a 4-star running back factory over there. USM is legit!

Good luck!
Haha...that's funny about the game reports after losses being shorter. In a weird way, I think at some point, I actually started LIKING doing the loss reports more. When I am in the middle of losing a game, I am pretty P.O.'d, but by the time I have turned off the XBOX, I am usually typically excited to write up the report for some reason. Maybe I just like the adversity and controversy it brings when I actually do lose. Adversity is hard to come by sometimes in dynasty mode, so when it happens naturally, it is welcomed.

The most shocking development from this loss is that I have now exceeded the number of seasons it took me to win a national title in Part I. It took me 7 seasons to turn Tulane's default roster into a national champion, and we will now be heading into year 8 of this sequel project still searching for another ring. I am disappointed, but at the same time very ecstatic about that.

You're right in that we do have a ton to play for. I really want to make a New Year's Six bowl (or, in this old school college football universe, a BCS Bowl); it will indeed go a long way in recruiting and would also go a long way in getting Coach Geezy a contract extension!

2024: Last year's contest versus Arkansas marked the final appearance of then-senior QB Bryce Allen's career at Tulane, as an abdominal injury ended up costing him the remainder of a senior season in which he missed 10 games in total.

Last Meeting: Last season, then-#17 Tulane watched a 24-17 halftime lead turn into a 41-24 fourth quarter deficit before ultimately falling to unranked Arkansas 41-38 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The win for the Razorbacks was its first ever at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome over the Green Wave since the Wave made its return to the SEC in 2014. After former Wave QB Bryce Allen exited the game in the second half with abdominal injury that virtually ended his collegiate career, the Razorbacks began to dominate and built up its large lead. Arkansas RB Josh Collins bulldozed his way through Tulane's defense, rushing 25 times for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns while WR Troy Bray caught 5 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown, as the Wave lost its second contest to the Razorbacks in their last six games.

2023: LEFT - Redshirt QB Obi Clemons threw a career-high 4 touchdown passes during last year's win. | RIGHT - RB Tony Tompkins finished the game with 159 yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns.

Last Meeting at Venue: Then-#8 Tulane erased a 24-10 first half deficit, outscoring unranked Arkansas 31-0 the rest of the way en route to a decisive 41-24 victory two seasons ago in frigid Fayetville. In relief of frequently-injured starter Bryce Allen, redshirt sophomore QB Obi Clemons threw 4 touchdown passes and no interceptions while RB Tony Tompkins accounted for 252 all-purpose yards and 3 touchdowns as the Green Wave improved their record to 8-2 on the year.

2019: QB Preston Fields was hit as he threw and his pass fell into the waiting arms of Razorbacks DT Mike McDaniel who rumbled his way to an 11-yard touchdown that made the score 48-14 late in the third quarter and all but ended any faint hopes of a Green Wave comeback.

Last Meeting III (Legacy Classic): In what was one of the biggest shockers of the 2019 college football season, the unranked Arkansas Razorbacks absolutely demolished then-#1 ranked Tulane 62-27 six seasons ago in frigid Fayetville. Just one week after the top-ranked Green Wave knocked off #2 Alabama at home, the Wave ended up being victims of the proverbial "trap game" as the Razorbacks opened up a 31-0 second quarter lead. Former Tulane QB Preston Fields threw 4 interceptions on the day, including two returned for touchdowns, and former Arkansas RB Fred Ward was unstoppable that afternoon, rushing 26 times for 186 yards while adding 4 receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown. The 35-point loss margin was the largest ever for Tulane under head coach D. Geezy and ended a 40-game regular season winning streak for the Green Wave.

Redshirt sophomore QB Jimmy McBride had his best performance of the season, throwing for a career-high 413 yards and accounting for 5 total touchdowns (3 rushing, 2 passing).

Fayetville, AR -- Four of the 2 teams' last five games against each other were decided by 7 or fewer points, including last year's 41-38 Arkansas upset win over Tulane at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. On Saturday afternoon, it was more of the same, as the SEC West foes battled back-and-forth to the end before the Green Wave came away with a 38-31 victory in frigid Fayetville. The Wave, who came into the contest having lost each of its last two games, despite some early mistakes, got magnificent performances out of QB Jimmy McBride and WR Adam Lawson as well as steady play defensively, to help come away with the victory and inch closer to securing a spot in a BCS Bowl.

QB Jimmy McBride showed off his sneaky athleticism all afternoon on Saturday and finished with a career-high 3 rushing touchdowns to go along with his prolific throwing performance.

Tulane came out red hot on its opening possession and was firing on all-cylinders out the gate. McBride completed all 7 of his pass attempts for 79 yards on the game's opening 9-play 80-yard drive that resulted in a 1-yard touchdown run by the redshirt sophomore signal caller and gave his team an early 7-0 lead.

Arkansas (8-2) would respond right back with a long drive of its own. A 10-play 82-yard possession would be culminated with a 31-yard touchdown pass from QB Malik Foster to WR Seth Sims to tie the game up at 7.

The Green Wave offense, which finished with 463 total yards on what was an otherwise perfect day, did make a pair of crucial errors in the first half, both by McBride.

A wide receiver screen pass attempt to WR Grant Brady got picked off by Razorbacks MLB Justin Williams and was returned 30 yards for a touchdown that gave the home team a 14-7 lead. Then, a couple of possessions after McBride tied the game up with a 5-yard second quarter touchdown run, disaster would strike again.

This time, the Green Wave offensive line missed a blitz pick up and it resulted in Arkansas CB Joe Hollins' getting a strip-sack which was recovered by DE Jonathan Townsend and returned 35 yards for a touchdown which gave their team the lead right back at 21-14 with 5:02 remaining in the first half.

It was at that point, the McBride to Lawson connection began to take over.

The pair's 80-yard touchdown hook up just before halftime cut Tulane's deficit to 24-21 going into the halftime break. They'd then follow it up with a 51-yard third quarter hook-up that gave their team a 28-24 lead. Lawson finished the game with a season-high 9 receptions for 262 receiving yards, which was just 13 yards shy of the single game school record his set last season as a true freshman during last year's contest versus the Razorbacks, a game in which he finished with 10 receptions for 275 yards and 3 scores.

Tulane 6-6 sophomore WR Adam Lawson, a former 4-star recruit from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, is starting to emerge as the big play threat head coach D. Geezy envisioned, finishing with a season-high 9 receptions for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lawson has three career 200-yard receiving games, two of which have come versus the Razorbacks.
"I knew they didn't have anyone in their secondary that would stop me today, and I told McBeezy if he sees me one-on-one, just throw it up there and I'll go get it," said Lawson, who says he and teammates gave McBride the nickname because he and head coach D. Geezy are "joined at the hip" at practice and in the film room. "They couldn't stop me last year, and they didn't really add much in the secondary in the off-season, so I knew I'd burn them again if given the chance."

In the third quarter, after driving deep into Tulane territory, Arkansas would lose its signal caller when Foster exited with what looked to be a serious elbow injury after being hit by Wave FS Terrell Faulk on an incomplete third down pass attempt. One play later, his replacement, senior Jamaal Gibson, would get hit by MLB Joey Rodgers, and it resulted in an errant fourth down throw which went into the dirt and turned the ball over on downs inside of the Wave 10-yard line, thwarting a crucial opportunity for Arkansas to re-take the lead.

Later, in the fourth quarter, the Wave would extend its lead via a field goal by PK Aaron Lawson that made the score 31-24. Then, McBride's third rushing touchdown of the day, this time on a 4-yard scramble, made the score 38-24 with 4:30 to play.

After a coverage lapse by Tulane CB J.T. Hills resulted in an easy 78-yard touchdown pass from Gibson to WR Justin Smith that cut the Razorbacks deficit to 38-31, Tulane would turn to McBride with the game on the line.

McBride's 24-yard third down completion to RB Michael Brown Jr. on a seam route gave their team a first down with 2:10 remaining. Then, with Arkansas down to its final timeout, Geezy remained aggressive and had McBride throw on first down to put the game away. The risk would pay dividends as he'd complete a slant route pass to Lawson for a 14-yard gain, giving the Wave a first down and forcing Arkansas to burn its last timeout with 2:03 remaining, allowing Tulane to run out the clock on kneel downs. McBride finished the game 21 of 37 for a career-high 413 yards threw the air, to go along with his 5 total touchdowns.

"I thought Jimmy was outstanding all afternoon. We really liked our matchups versus their secondary coming in, and I thought he and Lawson clicked," said Geezy.

"When that pair gets going, there isn't a team in America that can stop them. We have a bright future ahead of us with those two and I felt like we're starting to witness an awakening for the both of them.

"Overall, after the last two outings we have had, it felt really good to get a win, and hopefully we can keep the momentum going."

Tulane (8-2) will host Ole Miss next week at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Green Wave blew away the Rebels 41-23 last season in Oxford. With two home games remaining, including a tilt versus current #4 TCU (10-0) in their regular season finale, the Wave hopes to finish the season in the top 10 and earn a possible at-large berth in a BCS Bowl.

QB Jimmy McBride and RB Michael Brown Jr. celebrate following McBride's second quarter rushing touchdown.

Arkansas took the field on Saturday hoping to pick up its second consecutive win over Tulane.

The Razorbacks reached into their bag of tricks early on this flea-flicker, however Tulane SS Jo Jo Price would break up the deep pass attempt to WR Troy Bray in the end zone.

Arkansas MLB Justin Williams' interception on this screen pass attempt to WR Grant Brady resulted in a pick-six that gave the Razorbacks an early 14-7 lead.

Perhaps against the advice of doctors and trainers, star RB Tony Tompkins pounded his chest to display he is just about fully recovered from his pectoral injury that has ailed him most of this season. Though still somewhat limited, Tompkins finished with 9 rushes for 33 yards along with 1 reception for 15 yards.

Despite his great day, QB Jimmy McBride turned the ball over twice early, including being stripped on this second quarter sack by Arkansas nickel CB Joe Hollins, a player that once visited Tulane's campus back during his 2023 recruitment.

Hollins' forced fumble would end up getting scooped up by Razorbacks DE Jonathan Townsend and returned for a 35-yard touchdown that gave his team a 21-14 second quarter lead. Townsend, a senior, gave the Green Wave fits all afternoon, as he also finished the game with 2 sacks.

Arkansas true freshman CB Aaron Robinson, another defensive back Tulane once recruited and had in for a visit last year, spent most of the afternoon seeing the back of WR Adam Lawson's jersey.

Tulane sophomore OLB Sean Williamson pursued Arkansas QB Malik Foster on this play and came away with a sack on what was an attempted Hail Mary throw on the final play of the first half.

WR Adam Lawson ran all the way across the end zone to point towards his family in attendance following this 51-yard third quarter touchdown that gave his team a 28-24 lead.

Tulane junior MLB Joey Rodgers, a first year junior college transfer, celebrates after bringing heavy pressure that resulted in an incomplete pass on an Arkansas fourth down attempt late in the third quarter with the Wave up 28-24.

Tulane CB Tyler Harrison's fourth quarter interception gives him a career-high 5 picks on on the season and led to a field goal that increased the Wave's lead to 31-24 with 6:52 remaining.

After completing a pass to Lawson, McBride tries to get a good view of Lawson's run after the catch, which resulted in a game-sealing first down with 2:03 remaining and the Razorbacks out of timeouts.

McBride celebrates with true freshman and former blue chip offensive guard recruit Ryan Stewart-Sims after his final kneel down.

#4 TCU, #5 Boise St. each handle their business, sets stage for a collosal matchup next weekend at Boise

Next week's tilt between the Horned Frogs and Broncos could very well determine one of the remaining national championship slots | #8 Oklahoma scores 21 unanswered fourth quarter points but still drops in second straight game, this time falling 27-24 to Texas Tech; #2 Georgia Tech next up for the suddenly reeling Sooners | Oregon senior QB Nick Brown connects with senior WR James Givens twice in game's final minutes, including game-winning 31-yd touchdown with 0:21 to go in 28-23 win over Washington | Penn St. RB Damian Woodard's 88-yd TD run with just over a minute remaining gives #22 Penn St. a thrilling 33-32 win over #17 Michigan St.

Nice win, Geezy and I'm happy to see you guys slide back into the national picture just a bit. Crazy stats by Lawson, it's like he's Ryan Jean 2.0 or something. Fascinating how just one week ago everyone was convinced that the sky was falling, when clearly there's still a path to a nice bowl game.

I too think it's ridiculous to suggest Geezy is going anywhere anytime soon, kind of reminds me of Cheese's storyline with Coach Clayton a few seasons back.

In an ideal world (at least in my eyes), the following happens:

Oklahoma beats Georgia Tech next week
                              TCU beats Boise
                              Southern Miss wins out
Tulane beats TCU in a few weeks
Georgia Tech beats Florida State in the ACC Title Game

That would mean Southern Miss finally gets their shot to play in the National Title Game and maybe possibly hopefully finally get an invite to the SEC. Though I'd be okay seeing Bama play any of TCU/Boise/USM contingent. Curious to know if there's any team in particular you want to see take on Bama?

I know Boise won a title very early in your dynasty but it's so cool to see the small conference teams up so high in the rankings with a real shot for respect.

Man Coach Geezy is a LEGEND. Straight disrespect to even think that he is on the hot seat. Nice job bouncing back with that solid win!
