Re: Is playing ufc ea 3 wired better then wireless
I wonder if a lot of the guys who complain about lag are just experiencing issues because they are on a wireless connection.

Wired is tremendously better but even with my 100/100 fios I still get vicious lag on Ea UFC games from time to time. more often than any other game I own.Comment

Re: Is playing ufc ea 3 wired better then wireless
Technically speaking "wired" will always be better than wireless. However if you live in the city and have a good connect, wireless can be fine. Reality is your connection can hit a point to where it simply can't get much better.
Not saying my connection is amazing, but in my case I steam from my Xbox to my laptop via the Xbox app with no lag and destroy folks online regularly. In fact I almost exclusively use my xbox as a server for this and haven't even played UFC directly on the Xbox. I do have a pretty decent connection though.
That said if you are experiencing any sort of latency or packet drop, wired will be the way to go. If you have a solid connection, wireless can be just as good (as a side not I'd recommend trying the streaming app to xboxers).Comment

I think they're talking about controller connection, not internet, could be wrong though.Comment

Re: Is playing ufc ea 3 wired better then wireless
Wired connection is more stable (not faster per se, but more stable). If you are a "competitive" player, it's either wired or go home. And I used to play wirelessly and defend my decision, but in some games it's truly awful. MKX on wireless was unplayable. Tiny packet drops rendered the game a slideshow. It is less noticeable in the UFC games but you should still go wired because of the proliferation of other wireless devices that can cause interference with your console's connection.
All that said, it doesn't matter if you have a great wired connection if you're opponent has unstable or slow internet. Reason? Peer 2 peer architecture. In a peer to peer game, the weakest link in the chain drags everyone down to the same speed. That's why peer to peer sucks so bad for competitive.
There are ways around this of course. Other games (like Tekken, Street Fighter, etc) let you see the other player's ping to you (often using cell phone bars) and either accept or reject the match based on that.
With the UFC games, you're going in blind and have no real way to reject a potentially laggy player.
Your best case scenario is to remove yourself as the potential weak link (go wired) and also pair up with another wired player who doesn't live far away and doesn't have garbage internet. I can play any of the GC'ers who live in NA and we barely have any lag. But in normal matchmaking I sometimes run into people who lag every other second.
It's worth noting that Ubisoft just implemented dedicated servers for For Honor in ALL modes, including the 1v1 duel mode. So the technology for EA to do this conceivably does exist. That would be a best case scenario. But for now we are forced to live with p2p blind luck matchmaking...ZombieRommel on YouTube - UFC3 coverage has begun!Comment

Wired is more better, obviously. If you were playing in a faraday cage inside a vacuum, that might be a different story. I'm going to stick with wired though.
I can't use wired controller because when I throw it a wired controller can cause a significant amount of collateral damage.Comment
