The Truro City F.C. (also known as the White Tigers) have hired an relatively unknown new manager, 39-year-old Mike McMahoney. McMahoney himself played Sunday League at his best, but his coaching career has picked up a bit better. Truro chairman Peter Masters had only great things to say about his new manager:
"Out of the guys we interview'd for the spot, Mike was the one who stood out. He had a clear vision where he wants to take this club."
McMahoney, who's first major managerial job this is, was as excatic about coming to Truro:
"I want to thank Pete for this opportunity he's given to me. I like what we have here in Truro and I want to make this club into a club that can win the Champions League. That's right, the Champions League. It might take us 20 years to get there, but I don't care. That's the direction I want to lead this club towards to."
Surely a climb as big as that, many can just think: can McMahoney lead this club there? Only time will tell.
