NHL 19 Roster sharing Poll on Facebook

Here is a poll to see how many people want roster sharing in NHL19 and would consider not buying the game if its not in the game. Its on facebook please share this and vote. Hopefully this will either get back to the development team or show that not enough of us really care if its in the game or not.

Unfortunately only 35 people bothered to vote and EA is not going to care what 35 people think despite 94% of those people wanting it. That poll needed numbers in the hundreds to even have EA blink at it.....

As a "retired" Gamechanger I can assure you that they are perfectly aware that people want Roster share.

Do you think they don't consider it worth the time & manpower to add, or do you think it's something else?

We never really got a serious answer "why", unfortunately.

I remember last time we asked (face to face) at the EA office, Andy Agostini started to laugh loud and asked us: "Why you guys want it so much". We told him the obvious reasons and that was it, this reaction, that was his answer to this question.

My personal opinion is that until the roster itself is such a huge selling point for the NHL game every year, we won't get it. It would just hurt their sales way too much.

They know everyone wants roster sharing but I'm sure that would hurt their future sales and doesn't make business sense. And not much changes from year other than rosters/schedules. But I will say that last year's game was a step in the right direction with the create a team/franchise edits.

The part that still bums me out is there really isn't much differentiation between the starts and the 4th liners.

I wish they would let me make rosters again. It’s very disheartening to hear that the game changers were laughed at when they brought this up. If they think that the rosters are a selling point that is a real shame. They need someone with some fresh ideas in that office.

How in Gods name would that affect sales? That makes no sense considering other sports games have had it for years.....there is no single good reason to not have this very basic feature. I do have a theory but I’m sure it’s not popular....EAs online money making cash cow HUT is to blame. There is zero player separation in this gane and while EA denies it their own memos confirm that there is a balancing mechanism in place for online play. This is why an 82 card sometimes plays like your 99 card....if EA allowed roster share the great roster guys around here would put out their great revamped rosters which would in turn really make the BS online rosters and shenanigans stand out. As it is EA is in constant battle mode trying to hide ice tilt....the past two years we’ve heard about better player separation and it’s simply not there.....so why does EA refuse to give an honest answer to no roster share and why do they refuse to have any type of player separation at all unless it’s to keep a fair balance to teams in online play.

Well, the reason, in my opinion, is that the year improvements are so subtle in NHL series that they don't wanna let the community do the rosters for others for free. Because otherwise there would be a risk that people would just keep the old games and just download the current rosters for free. They wanna monetize it.

I tried to convince them before I gave up that with the roster share this community would go crazy with historic rosters or even full seasons and that would attract whole new (older) groups of people to their product. But they believe they can make more money with the focus the younger/kids and nonhockey casual/diverse people.

If they have to rely on updated rosters as a selling point, then that’s truly sad. Rosters should just be icing on the cake.

Let’s say roster sharing was already in the game. And let’s say NHL 19 was advertising re-worked goalies, improved AI so players were more positionally sound, and improved neutral zone play. I would look forward to purchasing NHL 19 so I could use the Revamped Rosters or an old-school roster with the new functionality of the new game.

Exactly. Again....it’s in every other sports game for years and their sales are fine. It’s an indictment of this series and development team if they fear we will just play the older version and update the rosters. Release a good updated product and roster share won’t hurt your sales one single bit.

Furthermore if you refuse us roster share update your rosters more than once a month...they are too infrequent and usually inaccurate beyond belief....Truly pathetic

I think the problem is that they think they got us anyway. And it works for them probably. So they give us (the sim hockey crowd) just enough so we are still somehow interested and then they push every other resource into these so-called "competitive" online modes or blatantly casual stuff.

The offline sim crowd is not their target market, for sure. To put work into something of this nature for the small payoff of having a few thousand diehards even use it, or buy the game because of it, just doesn't add up to them (figuratively and financially).

And their fears would be justified, if DJ Neo's theory is correct in the slightest. Because I know a lot of offline players that would never buy the next iteration of the series if there wasn't enough improvement in the one mode they played to justify the purchase, especially if they can just get updated rosters and keep playing the game they already have.

I know a lot of people who do that already. They just update themselves and play a version that is years old.

HUT will continue to plague this series it does make sense from purely a business sense to support this group because obviously they get the $60.00 plus extra money from the Hut purchases however EA must realize that they dont always have to listen to the community and implement things we all want but. The community can take some of the burdens away by making the changes for them.

This is rubbish....not your post because you guys are probably right but if this is EAs thinking. It’s either flat out stupidly or an admission that their games are little more than roster updates. We are not asking for a new innovative feature we are not asking for anything that would bog down development. We are asking for a very basic feature existing in games, including other EA games, since last gen consoles.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again...this development team absolutely loathes the die hard hockey fan. I’ve heard Rammer make snide remarks obviously directed statements at us......even the ex-gane changer who mentioned one of them laughing about roster share asking why we want it so bad....as if we’re stupid for wanting it. They hate the idea we know more about the sport than they do and that we call them out on obvious lazy efforts....in gameplay AND ROSTER UPDATES. They have zero desire to please us.
