Re: Time Machine to 2002 | Los Angeles Outlaws | Madden 08 with 2002 Rosters

Players Arrive in L.A.

The players selected by the Outlaws in both the expansion draft and the NFL draft arrived in Los Angeles today to have a look around the facilities. Receivers Keenan McCardell and Andre Davis spent most of the day running route trees and comparing stories. The teams projected starting quarterback Jeff Blake went on the practice field and threw to some of the receivers. All seems to be looking up for the Outlaws.

"I'm excited to be here, man. To be the first pick in an expansion draft feels a lot better than I thought it would. I can't wait to get on the field and start working with my offense as a whole." - Keenan McCardell

"It's weird, I never thought I'd be playing in LA this year. I definitely didn't think I'd get drafted so early but all the coaches say they know I'll be something special. I'm glad that my college suspensions didn't play that big a role in where I got drafted. I can't wait to get out here with vets like Keenan and Jeff and show them what I can do." - William Green

Many around the league are criticizing the Outlaws for drafting so many guys over 30. The team's general manager says he believes these guys still have some gas in the tank.

"Guys like Keenan and Jeff can really show our young offensive players how to be successful in the league. Keenan and Andre have already begun to develop a good relationship. With a guy like William Green in the back field with so much talent, but a lot of drama coming from college, we need true pro's like Keenan to show him the ropes and let his play do the talking. On the other side of the ball we have Willie McGinest, who's been to the big one, as well as Doug Evans who's been a great corner for years. Andra Davis has been talking to McGinest almost regularly before we even had this event. We hope it breeds success and we hope these guys stay a few years longer to help bring the new guys up to speed."

The Outlaws have a couple months until training camp to fill the rest of their roster. They have to bring in at least 20 more players off of waivers and the free agency list.
