I've been making 1 minute highlight videos chronicling my run to WS division with no money spent. Was wondering what you think of the video series. I would love to see this game develop an esports community after some more gameplay fixes in future years.

+1 for building an e-sports community around The Show.

But looking at the video, I feel very sad that many people think mashing HRs after HRs collecting cards like this somehow leads The Show to a better baseball simulation game.

DD as it stands looks to me like a blasphemy to baseball the sport, and your videos demonstrate that in my eyes.

DD as it stands looks to me like a blasphemy to baseball the sport, and your videos demonstrate that in my eyes.

I hope once SDS maxes out what they can do with DD they can take those earned resources and pour'em back into franchise. I really dont mind what they're doing with DD because, as a video game, there's nothing wrong with having a robust arcade experience too. SDS can love their cash cows DD & RTTS. I just dont want to see the sim aspect of the Show become the neglected red-headed stepchild.


As for no money spent, this probably not what Sony wanna hear.

This is true... I also would not mind DD flourishing for those who enjoy and do not have anything against the mode. I for one have been an advocate of using a mode like DD to subsidize the improvements to the game overall.

However, I hate that (some) devs appear to think that the overall game gets better looping in the feedback in from mostly arcade gamers though... some of the "fixes" that they have implemented after receiving feedback mostly through them have been truly atrocious, most prominent of which is bunting right now.

I completely agree with you. I wanted to do something about the frustration I felt being compelled to play the awesome construct DD is against what it's been perverted into over the iterations of The Show. I get that it's arcade (power + speed + offspeed low being ridiculous and exploitative chiefly)but it's a shame that it has become the profit maximising vehicle as a dynamic roster management system to play the macro construction game against the community is just so damn appealing - chiefly to those of us who want meaningful choices and strategy.

Thanks Caulfield - I echo your sentiments exactly. I really hope there is a Sim mode preserved outside of the NBA Jam direction these modes are taking. I feel the 2K idea of having different builds is promising and I hope the SIM/realism/esports viable side isn't undeserved for short term profits. They need to understand the long game and how to protect their brand vs just buying the exclusivity from the MLB that creating a robust and popular esports scene would bring.
