Great players you can't hit with / players you can rake with

Are there any great players you just can't hit with? For me, it's Daniel Murphy. Hitting about .280 with him while all my other guys are well over .300... and he has one of the highest contact attributes. Don't know what it is.

But I am hitting about .500 with Lorenzo Cain. Seems like I get a hit every time with him. Also a guy I hit really well with is Russell Martin, for some reason.

Used to be with guys with closed stances. But this year with the stance editor I open 'em up just a bit and voila, instant offense.

You're hitting .280 with him and are not happy? I can't hit with Murphy, I hit less then .220 with him.

I hit really good with David Wright and now that I use him, Todd Frasier.

Hell, regardless of who the player is, I'd be ecstatic to hit .280 and have that be the low end of averages in the starting lineup. I always usually have a couple players averaging anywhere from sub-.100 to .150 during the course of the season. If I have more than 6 or 7 players above .250, that's a successful season for me.

For me, a lot of times with the really great players, I used to try to do too much, expecting success every plate appearance. Now I temper those expectations and don't come up there first pitch hacking. You gotta put these guys in situations where they can succeed. I'm not doing Manny Machado any favours by constantly putting him in a 0-2 hole.

Back during his MVP caliber years, Albert Pujols.

I used to be able to rake with Marlon Anderson as a NYM. Led the NL in average I remember, but then he suffered a injury for months.

I’ve noticed I hit really well with the Panda! Yes even in this year’s game when he’s supposedly suck. He even hits well in cpu vs cpu, just had a 2 double 3 hit game against no one other than Kershaw! I enjoy watching games where players supposedly suck light it up so I can be amazed and laugh.

Add another clutch for cpu vs cpu. Freddy freaking Galvis! (Clutch on 50 for every players/pitcher) He had a walk off Homerun earlier in the week, then just now he hit a game tying homer in the 9th against the closer, going into extras. Lol.

In my current cpu vs. cpu season,

Freddie Freeman is a beast. He's good IRL but in this game omg, he hits like 2001 Barry Bonds. He has 37 homers in August despite missing nearly over a month from an injury. He even hits homers in nearly every simmed games. I do think his HR power ratings are a bit inflated however.

Shin-Soo Choo has been hitting over .350+ the entire season so far, and it seems like he hits .800 in every Rangers game I've watched.

On the other hand, guys like Joey Gallo and Khris Davis hasn't hit for much power at all. I think the way this game's hitting engine is set up has low contact guys with high power struggle hitting home runs more than high contact guys with average/medium power.

I cant pull the ball with Paul Goldschmidt. High average, lots of doubles, but I lose a lot of home runs because everything i hit with power is either to dead center, or opposite field.

Daniel Murphy and AS Justin Bour in DD. I hit .425 with 12 HR and 30ish rbi's with Bour in 20 games. Insane. Daniel Murphy, I'm just raking doubles left and right.

Recently I've started a fantasy season mode (in 17, haven't posted 18) and I make trades often to test players out. Hot/Cold players affect production but I know when I don't have a "feel" for a player. Could be timing issue, batting stance being distracting, etc.

Recently these are the players I can't hit with...
                            - Alex Bregman (love his abilities, so it's a bummer)
                            - Mitch Haniger (he's a CAP in 17, maybe in 19 will be different)
                            - Xander Bogaerts (I've been hitting better with him recently but struggled for years with him)
                            - Most 90+ rated players (idk if it's the expectation that they'll be an all-star or if I press too much with them, I love playing with an underdog team anyway, but it's tough to due with the Red Sox recently.)

Honorary mention: Cameron Maybin (When he was a top prospect with the Marlins, I loved his potential and in-game ability. I tried through a couple different years of The Show and just could not hit!)

Players I can hit pretty good with:
                            - Ender Inciarte
                            - Trevor Story (He's been hot recently, that may have something to do with it)

I have to be batting at least .400 with Freddie Freeman since I got 18 at release. He's my favorite active player so I lock in extra hard for his AB's. Wait for something down and in and instant double, at least. He's a monster. I'll never forget my 452 foot bomb with him at Shea on day 1.

In terms of who I struggle with, I can't do anything with Ozzie Albies. I usually let the CPU handle his at-bats. I don't know if it's his stance or what. I just can't get anything elevated with him. Polar opposite of what I do with Freeman.

Man I'm ready for 19...having Donaldson behind him is gonna make Freddie more dangerous than he's ever been.
