    Finally made the WS!!

Walk off HR with my CAP in the bottom of the 11th. I did a lot better when I took all most of my diamonds out of the lineup to lower my rating mod and replaced them with value hitters. My lineup in the clincher was

    balanced RF CAP 89 OVR
    Paul Goldschmidt 1B
    Rhys Hoskins OF
    PS Pedro Alvarez 3B
    Gary Sanchez C
    Jonathan Schoop 2B
    AS Jim Edmonds C.F.
    Paul Dejong SS

    Dee Gordon bench
    Wilson Contreras bench
    J.D. Martinez bench
    BO Harmon Killebrew bench
    Billy Hamilton bench

I have a lot of diamond players like Kemp Molina Billy Williams Griffey Doby Torre, but I found lowering my rating mod made a huge difference. I kept my best pitcher's in there for the most part my rotation was

    PS Bret Saberhagen
    AS Don Sutton
IV Nolan Ryan (don't like much)
    PS Jack Morris
    HW Felix Hernandez

    Bullpen

    Dellin Betances
    Josh Hader
    Roberto Osuna
    Felipe Rivero
    R Phil Niekro
    IV Billy Wagner
    AS Fernando Rodney

    My rating mod was +39

Man the competition gets stiff once you reach 850 or so, good luck to all still grinding. Time to enjoy some less stressful games!

I have all golds in my lineup and rotations and have gotten to 799 and then lost a few, back up to 792, lost a few. Its heartbreaking. Yet to pull a diamond. First time playing DD this year.

      Congrats man, I keep trying.

I find there is more value in power silvers/holds as they keep your rating mod down and hit better than a lot of diamonds although you do usually sacrifice some defence

It shows up when your managing your lineup. The number will be +/- whatever then when searching for an opponent that number will be added or subtracted from your current rating so if you're in the championship series with a +150 rating mod you're much more likely to match up with world series opponents or God squads

So i take it from the info, it's better to have a - rating mod if possible?

I wouldn't say that necessarily, it's best to use your most efficient lineup. Keep your rating mod as low as possible while having your best possible players. But yes the lower your rating mod the less skilled opponents you will face.

Which is absolutely ridiculous. I get what they are trying to do but the unintended consequence is that low to average skilled players end up playing people much better than they are simply because they have a good team on paper. Anyone who has played this game for more than one release knows that having a stacked team does not mean squat if you can’t play. It becomes even more ridiculous when Joey Gallo hits like Mike Trout....lol. They should do away with the rating mods and simply match teams based on current rank and overall team rating.

it means a lot to players who who can’t afford the time and/or money to stack up squads of diamonds & essentially go into the fray with inferior squads. by offering a little bit of an edge to people who want to get right to playing RS, you don’t feel pressured into “grinding” for cards to play the modes you want. plus, finding the (not-so-hidden) gems is what playing general manager is all about

nobody wants to have to play the game before you get to play the game. and for those who enjoy the grind, more power to them. it’s typically not a huge penalty anyhow.

I’m a little confused are you saying that it’s a good thing they balance out the game for players with inferior squads?

That's what it sounds like to me. I feel like they cater to those who don't grind/spend money more than enough.

You can enter an event and/or play BR which both represent a form of evenly rated teams.

Match ups should be solely based on your current rating. The team rating and/or mods shouldn't be a factor.

easy to say that if your squad is stacked or you’re playing in a low division, but the ratings mods are relatively minimal.

when you say things like “cater to those ... who don’t spend more than enough” i wonder why you think the game should purposely neglect to factor in the player ratings of your squad to determine your rating. like if i had a squad of all diamonds, i can’t imagine feeling “cheated” in the matchups. plus, i’d figure it’d be easier to level up.

i have 5 diamond cards & have a ratings mod of +13. when ratings are anywhere from 600-900, they rarely affect your match rating more than a percent or two anyway

I made it to Championship Series and I'm currently 26-5 in ranked seasons.

Playing in the 800's feels WAYYYY different. Pitch speeds seem cranked up and the PCI is 1/2 the size it used to be.

I'm late on everything...somehow went 1-1 in my two 800 games. I feel like every game I play up here is going to be a low scoring game. Feels like a completely different game than I was playing, wow. About to take the Kontrol Freeks off the 'ol thumb sticks...

I just ordered Kontrol Freeks specifically for online play. I've developed a bad habit of moving the PCI all the way to the edges or corners of the zone instead of gently floating with it so I can hit balls closer to the middle of the zone more consistently. It seems especially important since the middle of the PCI can now go outside of the zone. How come you're taking yours off? Would you recommend them generally?

P.S. I read somewhere that the top two or three leagues are played on Hall of Fame instead of All Star, which would explain why the gameplay has been so much different for you.
