Which Madden is considered the best overall game of this gen?

I'm just curious what the concenses is on which current gen Madden is the best.

All this Madden info is making me want to play it. I have EA Access and all the current gen Madden's are on there.

I was thinking it would have to be 18 but want to get people opinions.

17 for me. I like the gameplay the best in 17, and while the Franchise Mode in 18 might technically be better overall, it isn't enough for me move forward to 18.

I haven't played 18 in a few months, so maybe it's better now, but I still enjoy playing 17. It's just a looser-playing game.

I really liked 17 as well. I'd have to go back and play it, but I feel like it played a little better than 18.

Madden 18 remains the best online head-to-head sports game I've ever played, so I'll go with that.

I was a big fan of 17.

18 is a really good game, but they goofed up with the patch sequences this year and ruined a good portion of the football gaming season for players of my ilk.

Fully patched slidered up, I'd say '18, hands-down.

Madden 18.

I still think they improve every year with the game, but they are doing it as a snail's pace. Look at games like The Show or 2K & the leaps they've made over the years, while Madden seems like they're using dial up internet to make changes.

Madden 18 is the best professional football game to date, but as a consumer, I expect way more for my annual $60 donation to EA.

Madden 25 is still my favorite madden game ever. For fun factor. I'm shocked it's gotten the least votes. I feel the gameplay didn't need very much patching, and it's just a great playing game. For the new/new gen, I'd go with 17.

18 by a wide margin for me. It took a long time for the patches to come out to fix a few major issues but I'm still playing it and probably will until 19 comes out.

I would say madden 17 - I played many memorable seasons of franchise with multiple teams. by comparison madden 18 is the only madden game where I could not even get through one full season without getting fed up with the game.

Offense was far too easy in M25. After a month every game against the AI, even on All Madden, was an easy blowout and every H2H was a ridiculous 49-42 type shootout.

For me it's 16. I could play it on default Allpro and scores/stats were pretty on par. 17 and 18 on same settings was like outdoor arena football. Every game was 50s to 40s.

Yeah, I agree with a couple guys here and have a feeling it may turn out like this for a consensus:

M16 played really well, the CPU QB play was decent. I can’t remember how patching went with that game. But, that was the first game in years that I actually enjoyed all-pro default sliders. M13-15, I was playing with sliders for a full year on each game. Lol. So, I was very happy with M16. I really thought screens worked well in that game for the first time ever, as well. M16 also introduced the wr catch options. I’m a fan of those. And, even though agg catch was a little OP, as a strictly offline CFM solo player, I didn’t have a problem with it and think I liked it better than the nerf it got in 17. The jukes and spins and stiff arms felt sort of stiff in this game, however, and didn’t work well enough, imo.

M17 suffered from some CPU QB taking sack issues, if I recall correctly, to the tune of 10+ per game, lol, so that was kind of tough. I appreciated how the jukes worked in this game, however, they were better and/or more responsive than 16. But, overall, I think I still liked 16 better.

M18 was a CPU QB AI sack taking no scrambling mess up until the last few patches. I think M18 jukes and whatnot is better. Many complain of the slipping animations by defenders, but I actually like this and felt it was needed. Looking forward to M19 RPM possibly making these play out more realistically, but overall, the feel of 18 AFTER the qb patching was the best game so far. They added the directional control for RAC catches which was a small, but nice addition saving u from a few BS out of bounds problems. The Xbox enhanced version was VERY NICE for more seamless graphical transitions.

Overall, 16-18 play fairly similarly, but I’d say these are the pro/cons as a summary.

All-pro default actually played pretty good
Screen passes were good, imo - the blocking sometimes a little off, but if your timing of the throw was good, u could do some realistic damage from screens, including wr screens
CPU QB AI was pretty good - scramblers scrambled when appropriate and took less sacks
Addition of catch mechanics

Cons
Agg catch was a little OP - although, I didn’t mind it
CFM still lacking some options, of course
Players running out of bounds for no reason - legacy issue, I know, but this got a little cleaned up moving forward.

M17
Pros
Better jukes/spins (they actually worked for a change. Lol).
Toned down Agg catch and added defense swat mechanic
I thin 17 introduced more zones on defense and cover match concepts.
Added blocked kick mechanics

Cons
CPU QB AI regressed. More sack taking, less scrambling.

M18
Pros
Better jukes/spins
RAC catch directional control
Better blocking, imo leading to a better run game mixed with the better jukes
CPU QB AI AFTER patches (maybe, around dec/Jan, we finally got good play? Lol)

Cons
CPU QB AI play BEFORE patches was HORRIBLE!!

So, yeah, for me, I’d have to say, overall, M18 Xbox one x enhanced AFTER patches is the best. But, I have a feeling if I popped M16 in, I’d really enjoy that as well. As much as I felt jukes didn’t work well enough in M16, that helped keep games more realistic, actually, I believe. Because, u got tackled more easily. But, the games, overall, played really well on all-pro default, and that, alone, was amazing to me.

This is tough. 25 I would say is my favorite. For the best game it might be a toss up between 17 and 18. I think 19 will surpass them all and be the best game hands down.

Something happened between fully patched 16 and the release of 17 with CPU qb AI and I really don't think we've seen it as good since.I also think that CPU playcalling was better.

17 introduced some nice additions to CFM but while it improved gameplay in a couple areas the CPU qb not scrambling and boneheaded just negates anything positive.

18 is a good game in its current state finally instead of just 17.5 and with the additions to CFM that came from 17 this makes it a good choice but I still think you get more consistently good games against the CPU from 16 because of the reasons stated.

For those reasons I pick 16 but would say that it's really hard to not play 18 instead and just cringe at some of the regression that we're all too familiar with from Madden.
