Great game for us indeed, nice confidence boost headed into the second half after a shaky first six games. I always seem to load up our out of conference schedule, and this year was no exception - Iowa turned out to be a fringe top 25 team, Vandy nearly beat us, and then UCF actually did - I'm happy to have salvaged a 5-1 record so far, as I truthfully thought we were going to lose to Virginia Tech.
The only two games that I think could give us trouble until championship week are Syracuse up next with their option attack and the big game in November against Notre Dame.. hopefully we don't get caught looking too far ahead, and I don't think this team is as good as last year's (or the 2020 team, even) but we're still in great shape to make another playoff run. The next few weeks serve as chances to help increase Jordan's confidence under center and patch up the offensive line, so here's hoping we can take advantage and work out the kinks.
It must feel nice for outside readers such as yourself to know your CAC won before the weekly update - I can only imagine your conflicting views on the Cutler situation, though. Maybe you consider this as one of those "even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while" type moments.

I wish you luck against Barry Odom's Boy-Z State Broncos next week.. beat that guy up good!
Contrarily, I've been a big fan of the new UConn uniforms since day one... I don't mind the helmets at all. Sometimes, like with Ohio State for example, simple is better. Interesting that you're the second person (after RoundingThird) to gripe about that, but I can certainly understand your viewpoint. You'll be heartened to know that in 2015 (I believe) UConn updated their uniforms in real life with a nice big husky on the side.

We're still very much in the thick of this playoff race, for sure. Undefeated teams happened with frequency in the early years of the dynasty but not so much lately. If we can run the table, we'll get in with no debate. And while the schedule does lighten up in the second half with a few conference bottom feeders (Louisville, BC, Wake Forest, Virginia), we've still got Notre Dame in November and Syracuse next week - the Orange now run the option and have a really good team top to bottom. They're also coming off an upset win over Wazzu last week and sit at 4-2; they're no pushover.
I'll repost the story I wrote last season when the pre-game goes up but it's been well documented that I've had a lot of struggles against the spread option and the triple option. Easy to say that next week could very well be a toss-up game, especially as they have a large home-field advantage.
Thanks to the both of you for your comments! Things have been dead around the boards the last couple of weeks so I'm glad to see you check in. And we wait for the fall....
