The average wins for non playoff teams was 6.8. Let's call it 7...the NFC wildcard teams averaged 3.5 more wins than non-playoff average. Just based on record, the wildcard teams are not "marginally" better, and definitely not worse. They're better than non-playoff teams, and not "some of the worst in the league," as you say...that's just the way it is.

My standards are much higher than yours. Outside of a handful of teams, the majority of squads absolutely suck. I don't hold wildcard teams in very high regard. But even if you refuse to agree with me about them being in the same ballpark as a lot of the teams that miss the playoffs, you definitely agree with me when I say that teams in the conference championship games and SB (which Brady plays every year) are vastly superior to wildcard teams.
