Re: Archetype Throwdown: Who would you rather have on your team? Sharp/Slasher?

A good sharp is more valuable than a good slasher for a few reasons, but the big ones are 3>2 and they allow their teammates more room to operateComment

Since when are 50/50 3 balls valued more than 60% on 2s?

This shift in the game has baffled me for years.

Athletic players without jumpers still go pretty high in the draft. It's not like Ben Simmons was shooting the lights out and people wanted him to get MVP over Harden!

But in 2k athleticism isn't valued at all.Comment

And the fact that slashers have a 61 max 3 pointer is okay with you? If we could stretch the floor at a 33% clip, would that be "cheese"?Comment

You literally have to have at least 2-3 sharps on your team. A stretch big and a PG at the least. You cannot even operate an offense against elite talent without 2 guys who spray it from limitless.

If i were building a perfect team I’d probably have 3 playmaking sharpshooters a stretch big and a pure post scorer. Who the hell are you going to help off of against that 5? Maybe put in a Slashing sharpshooter or a shot creating sharpshooter at the 3 as your fast break specialist.

I hate that this 2k is built like that but it’s the reality. You cannot win if your trotting out more than one non shooting archetype. Teams will simply bring help off him and ruin the offense for everyone else

Pure Slashers and pure athletics can shoot pretty good % if wide open. Make your dudes arms short. If you know your release i guarantee you’ll hit around 40% consistently. Iv seen it done in team pro am and park. Teammates with dimer are your best friend

Mathematics show that 33.3% from 3 is equal to 50% from 2, the modern league is embracing this and the video game realm has been doing this for a while already.Since when are 50/50 3 balls valued more than 60% on 2s?

Athletic players without jumpers do go high in the draft still because you can't teach athleticism but one of the most common things for a player to improve on is their jumpshot

Pure Slasher shouldn't get a 61 3 imo, I also don't think a pure sharp should be an available archetype as there's really only Korver and Reddick that would qualify. But if it must exist as an archetype they need to take a hit to moving 3 at the bare minimum as the moving fadeaway shots from the center court logo are beyond ridiculousComment

What's funny is Reddick only has an 86 open three ball and Korver has 90

The fact that Sharp's all get Klay Thompson level shooting is just idiotic to be honest, especially since they can shoot on the move.

And LOL, Howard you're still trying to sell the dream of Pure slashers getting 75-80 three ratings?Comment

Every archetype has multiple ways to beat you. And no... 75? 70 sure. We're talking about the JORDAN archetype. Jordan shot .38 his career. That's not horrible!Comment

Re: Archetype Throwdown: Who would you rather have on your team? Sharp/Slasher?

LMAO. This is 2k we're talking about not real life. Sharps are way more valuable than Slashers. Spacing the floor is so crucial in this game. The minute that we see inside players on the court we automatically drop in a 2-3 Zone. It's the easiest way to defend Slashers and Athletic Rebounders. You may not be able to completely stop them but you'll contain them for the most part. I have yet to see a slasher consistently shoot mids. Every kid that uses one just want to posterize people which makes it that much easier.Since when are 50/50 3 balls valued more than 60% on 2s?
