Wizards go 0-3 heading into All Star Break

Wizards go 0-3 heading into All Star Break, despite Jordans effort.

February 15th, 2002 | by NBA.COM

Jordan returned to the United Center in Chicago this week, but despite 26 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal, the Bulls grabbed a 7 point win. No special introduction for Michael, just business as usual. The Chicago fans gave Jordan a loud cheer, but this didn't continue throughout the game. This is the first sell out for the Bulls in 2002, as their team slowly slides down to the bottom of the Eastern Conference without a trace.

The Wizards had already lost to Boston this week again, as Paul Pierce seems to be the only one Jordan can't get the better off regularly. Antoine Walker hit 30 pts and again scorched the Wizards defense from deep. Jordan's 15 points were never going to be enough. Christian Laettner brought the fight with 21 points and 12 rebounds, but only Laettner and Rip Hamilton played any way well for the Wizards who looked fatigued all night.

The third Wizards game was a trip to MSG. The Knicks who seem to be tearing it all down with the trade of Sprewell and Camby shocked the Wizards last night. Led by stalwart Allan Houston and his 24 points the Knicks pulled off a surprising win. Knick legend John Starks matched up on Jordan for a few minutes, and tried to slow him down. Starks, Donyell Marshall, Greg Ostertag and Byron Russell all made their debuts, and brought a renewed sense of fight to MSG.
