This really gave me no hope for the future of equipment in this game everything is a ''super hard'' thing to put in the game or something they are looking at hopefully putting in the game in the future, Idk if its how this game was made but why is everything as far as a new edition difficult to incorporate, games with better quality of graphics and animations such as 2k and the Show have all types of equipment even scanned equipment, but something as simple as turf tape is rocket science for EA to figure out to get into the game.

Eventually something has to give but the future is here now since the whole ''we are looking to put this or that into the game in the future'' has been said for the past 4 to 5 years and we still continue to get minimal additions and more and more excuses to why things haven't been added.

Just seems like the foundation that it was built on just isn't very giving, or adaptive. Doesn't seem like they planned very well for additions to the software.

Very insightful it’s just very upsetting to hear them
Struggle with small things like turf tape on arms, like seriously though, the mouth piece thing I’ve heard before so that kinda gets a pass but come on now madden it’s 2018 y’all can throw the mouth piece on a player and just have it cut off the mouth animations for said player when using a mouthpiece in sure people would be cool with that

Same thing I thought but apparently it's not that simple. Mouthpieces are LONG overdue. You'd think after a decade they would've figured out a work around, but, priorities.

If the foundation is this hard to build from then its past time to start over because our wants and needs wont go away they will only increase yearly, but with that said it makes since why this game is so far behind in the little things compared to other sports games, just sucks kind of wish it was a laziness problem and not a foundation problem laziness can be fixed easily with replacing those people, but a foundation change is a lot more work.

It'd be no big deal that mouthpieces were missing and striped socks were not correct if EA-Tiburon ever got the important stuff right such as, having my GD receiver turn upfield while catching a pass toward the sideline rather than running straight out of bounds, or having a defender in zone coverage in the flats actually go after a QB scrambling to the sideline rather than just stand there in place with zero situational awareness. But they can't even correct these important gameplay flaws that have been in place since Madden PS2/Xbox.

There's just a lack of attention to detail and polish that's just hard to overlook after all these years. Like we literally have not had mouthpieces since PS2. They added the different sock lengths in Madden 11 I THINK, and they haven't found a way to adjust the striped socks.

Again small details but, these small issues have crossed generations. I'm not even gonna touch the gameplay issues.

I have a whole opinion on this topic but primarily understand that their goal is always to ensure they are as current as they can be in terms of equipment; where sacrifices are made in terms of more difficult things like tattoos and mouthpieces, as they apply to the greater player model issues.

I'll never understand why helmets, sleeve changes, or anything else that was already in, are removed (Wilson F2000, was in/removed, long sleeves, cut down this year , and retro Panther/Convos cleats) to name a few), as opposed to being kept as options as they build new. If they kept stuff it's a great baseline moving forward to offer players the most customization. Why we don't have an editor where we could change/modify colors for pants or a facemask, for example, just sucks. Nor will I understand why we can't have more retro uni templates added.
I've also heard time and again 'next year' for more retro uniforms and such.

I also don't understand why the guy who does all of the rosters and ratings also does all of the uniform and equipment customization. If time is stretched to meet cycle, get another person.

Hey EA, look at the most popular games on the planet, regardless of genre. It's about CUSTOMIZATION, CUSTOMIZATION, CUSTOMIZATION!

I’ve pretty much given up getting mouthguards in Madden. Was hoping PC could mod some in, doesn’t sound good though considering FIFA 18 basically had texture swap for modding. mouthguards would probably require the ability to add geometry so more than likely a no go

I'm not gonna sit here and pretend it'd be easy to add all the things that we want because we don't know the process involving the different equipment but with the socks, I feel like it should be easier than mouthpieces.

For teams with two toned socks (chargers, broncos, jags, etc) just have the secondary color follow the height of the white socks. So if I wanna set it to low height setting for the chargers, have the navy blue base, white socks at the ankles and have the yellow stripe go right above the white sock. That's how it looks on most of the chargers players.

For teams with a solid sock with a stripe like the chiefs or the bears, just have the ability to move the stripe up or down the leg.

I feel like those should be fairly easier to implement than other things like mouthguards or turf tape and whatnot.

Unfortunately we keep hearing that It’s being looked into “ every year”. I strongly believe that not enough resources are being put towards issues like mouth pieces , striped socks , etc. We still have the issues with helmet sizes on some players. They don’t sit right on the players head. We still have equipment that no one uses in the NFL like bulky ankle tape in the game. Yes, strides are being taken , but they are very slow. Look at all the years where equipment was never updated. Every player had the same generic cleet for the longest time. I personally have been advocating for individual cleet customization back when mike Young was doing it.
Look at NBA 2k. They are going to have 60 new players in the game from the first 2 rounds of the nba draft . They will have their respective tattoos. If they can do it for at least 60 players , why can’t Madden do it for at least 60 high profile players?

I’ll go back to my first statement. Ea just simply does not have enough people and resources on this stuff.

Its just the way Madden is built ultimately. You can see it if you've played the game every year since 360/PS3 gen. The players, the balls, fans, stadium. Everything in this game is connected to one another so adding something like a mouth piece is literally too hard to do without messing with the code or something.

Its why you can run through the walls in the stadium and the field goal post and sidelines and through other players, plays feel scripted and why somethings work and some dont. Players walk with bending knees and they dont walk on the ground they levitate above the grass they dont actually touch it or they'll go through it. There's no balance or polish at all. I'm not on the dev team so I dont know but it feels and looks like Madden is just one line of code. The whole game is one line. So if they try to add or subtract something it can mess up the whole game. Thats why every "fix" is like a bandaid and in game its just an alteration of what it previously was.

If we want any fix they need to just start over. It might costs too much (For EA) money though and the investors and higher ups are not into that. Everything in Madden is built as one and its a shame. You see 2K and you see the jerseys moving on their own. In Madden the creases and folds are stuck into position the whole game as if they were painted on the players skin.

                            EA..

To provide one reason why Tiburon might do this: it's not uncommon for old assets to get cut to make way for new ones in an effort to maintain consistent graphical quality and style, or if technology changes and updating old assets to support the new tech is more trouble than it's worth.

Madden certainly isn't the only game which culls old assets in this manner. Off the top of my head, WWE 2K has routinely cycled out old parts, move motion capture data, and other sundry customization options in and out of their customization suite for years.
