Yeah, slashing shot creator was cheese. You can hit every shot on the floor and dunk on people.

My SF was so damn slow this year hopefully that’s not the case next year .
My 7’3 center , 6’11 PF , and 6’8 SF were all basically the same speed#1 Laker fan

They do, but slashing defender is the better overall build if you're going to make a mixed defender since you'll be more athletic, have better scoring ability, and will eventually get the driving contact dunks. The 5 point difference in rebounding isn't very noticeable since both builds get silver hustle rebounder. And you don't need breakstarter if you and your leakers know how to stay within the safe range on outlet passes.Comment

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
I haven't played career in a while, so I can't really recall what the build is that I use. I usually build a player similar to what I'm good at. I don't try to force myself to use a shooter, or anything I don't quite enjoy. I personally don't enjoy taking a ton of shots, or being a shooter. I also base my character to how I play in real life, when I do play. I'm agile, I pass, I enjoy rebounding, however I'm short and I can't shoot. I like making someone who can play efficiently, and stats don't matter too much to me. I have a good post game in the virtual world, and I enjoy scoring inside, although I didn't enjoy it much last year as it was way too easy.
I remember mainly my character from last year's career mode. I played as a Small Forward, who could also play Power Forward. I created him at 6'8" and weighed around 253 lbs. I was a post scorer, an offensive rebounder, and I passed when I could. I'm not sure what build that is, but that's what I enjoy. Highly efficient.Comment

I'm leaning towards a post-scoring center. That was what I was hoping to do last year, but I didn't enjoy the post game in 2K18 so it never really got off the ground. Hopefully that's different this year.Comment

pure? i was thinking about a post/rebound but post builds always feel like slugs. im kind of thinking about a Athletic primary and rebound secondary buildComment

Oh how I hated guarding these guys. I felt like anytime my PF had to play center in walk on, it was always against a rebounding athletic finisher. Literally unstoppable under the rim. Hopefully defense in 2K19 will allow me to at least bump these guys out of position.Comment

yeah lol that was my build in 2k18. Rebounding primary first though. i dont think they will dominate as much this year if the defense is truly improvedComment

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
This year I'm going as a balanced center. They've said the same thing for years about defense being tougher inside and I always end up being disappointed with my rim protector. This is the year I go balanced.

If you make that build as a small forward then you get standing contact dunks pretty early on and driving contact dunks at 91 overall. They can be effective dunkers on offense if you have a weakling trying to guard you.

If I had known that silver defensive stopper has 0 effect on gold/HOF badges I would not have made it a secondary. Really a waste .#1 Laker fan

Then what's the point? To me, if you have any defensive badges, then it should have an effect on the offensive badges. Period. Not that it matters. The offense has so many badges that trigger at once, that it's hard to play genuine defense. If they stack, an offensive player could trigger...
Limitless Range
Catch and Shoot
Deadeye
From someone with a Dimer badge
Heaven forbid if they're shooting from a hot spot
while the defense has...
Defensive Stopper
Pick Pocket would be nice if you could actually strip the ball.Comment
