Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
That's the most important question the developers need to ask themselves, IMO. With the map design of Black Ops II, players are subliminally encouraged to rock the same class for most every map and it usually involves an SMG, Shotgun, and Lightweight.
At least back on MW2, I could mix and match with my classes and never feel at a dis advantage.
I think MW2 was a better sequel to COD4 than people give it credit for.
While I agree that COD4 was a lot of fun, it wasn't flawless and it's not the end all be all to how an online shooter should be designed, as some people would like to think.Last edited by AUChase; 12-24-2012, 10:07 PM.Comment

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
During, and after Mw2 there was a massive outcry of complainers in the community / forums that the maps were too Campy. So it seems like IW/Raven developers for MW3, and I think Raven Interactive did design Blops II maps? (might be wrong there) Completely simplified, and dumbed down the maps.
They removed a lot of Multi level buildings, took away complex flank routes and nooks and corners of the maps that added character. Shrunk the size of the maps down, so everything pretty much played on 1 single level, and you could get from one end of the map to the other in less than a minute. It made the maps a lot more frantic, and fast paced but it only encouraged 1 style of play. The rush mad, non stop, hip fire with SMG, shotgun, run n' gun with crazy spawn flipping every where type of game play. There was very little variety in playstyle, there were not very many maps where you could pull out a Sniper and try to hold long lines of sights. Most maps didn't really have any Long LOS. If you pulled out an Assault Rifle, or LMG and tried to hold a key chokepoint in an Objective based game you would have people with SMGs run circles around you and spray you down while you tried to keep up.
Really I think a fundamental design flaw from that point forward, Yes I love to pull out an SMG and rush wild on some maps as much as the next rusher... but what I loved and missed from MW2 was tactically navigating the maps with an Assault Rifle and holding key positions on the map, winning multiple Medium - Long range encounters. Which they seemed to have taken out of the game, really the outcry was for nothing... as long as there are corners in FPS games there will be camping.. you just have to learn not to go in blind in certain areas and know which places to check. I do think COD has gone down hill since MW2 / the original Black Ops.Last edited by Feared; 12-25-2012, 12:01 PM.Minnesota Vikings

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Bucktown that's exactly how I feel about the maps in BO2. I can't breathe and it forces only one style of gameplay . I like to play with various game styles and BO2 doesn't offer that .Simply *Magic* Just click the link and Watch :)

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Same here! I would still love to see MW2 get a remaster like COD4 did, but I'm perfectly happy with having MW2 be backwards compatible for now! MW2 still remains my #1 Call of Duty game out of all released to date.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
The game is so much fun! It was just a little laggy. These servers haven’t had this much action in quite some time.
