Is "coach mode" or something similar possible in Career Mode?

I really enjoy playing the Football Manager games where I can develop a tactic based around the players I have and throw it into a simulation engine to see how it works. My main problem with it is that it's not very visually interesting to watch.

Annoyingly, there's not really a way to only play as a manager in the FIFA games. The only thing I can think of would be to use Player Lock on a specific player (maybe a striker or goalkeeper). Has anyone tried this? Is this a viable solution? Is there a better solution?

Maybe you should try Football Manager instead of FIFA.

As an avid fan of Football Manager, I agree 100%. If this is what you're looking for, FM is fantastic. I suggest starting out with FM Touch though, as FM is very, very, very deep, and it's very easy to get overwhelmed. Touch is a more simplistic version of it.

If you have more questions about Football Manager, check out the Football Manager forums here, we're always looking for more people to get hooked on this game.

I think it's possible in the trainer CM to start a game, but don't pick a side in the controller selection window, so that the CPU controlls both teams.
