Great review Kevin! I still prefer the gameplay from PES 2019, but FIFA 19 looks like a great game. Great presentation, graphics, gameplay as well.  Love the fact that us footy fans get to play two amazing soccer games in PES 19 and FIFA 19. What a time to be alive!!!

Good work, KG. Meant to ask the other night... So changing league patches are in and swapping correctly? How about kit numbers after promotion from the EFL to EPL? Small stuff, but adds to career mode for me.

Supposedly patches update but I’m not sure about kit numbers. I didn’t check when I was doing a quick sim.

You worried about Arsenal having the right patches when you get the relegated??????????????????

One question, as always with PC/console soccer games.  Fouls?  And, PK's?

One of the biggest improvements this year was that fouls finally get called for denying an obvious breakaway chance i.e. preventing an off-ball player from retrieving the ball.

However, still many improvements left but it does feel better than FIFA 18.

                There aren’t enough fouls IMO.

I'm enjoying the demo, although I hate that we can't change the game speed.  Overall it feels much better than last year and I'm so happy they finally stole the flick up mechanic from PES.  Really fun playing a low cross and flicking one up for a volley with tons of top spin.

Yes. While many attempt a road to glory CM, I'm taking the less-traveled road to shame.

HUT the bread and butter of Fifa and you don't have a good team right away like PES? That's called money pit to make people drop hundreds of dollars in the mode. I threw maybe 40 bucks at PES and I'm done and happy with my players and my buddies players fill out the rest of our Club. PES or Konami isn't money hungry like Fifa. PES and never looking back for me or my friends .

Or you could look at it like “having a great team off the jump ruins MyClub”. I got PES early and within a day of its global release I’m playing teams that have Neymar-Messi-Mbappe up front. Yeah that’s a lot of fun.

Making it hard to get a good team is never a bad thing. If people want to drop their money (or their parents $) on upgrades than so be it. I get more satisfaction when my band of good, not great players take them down.

I was pretty sure I was going to skip 19, as I've just finally dug into 18 and am really enjoying it...but then I read this. The first time it's on sale for $40 I might have to get it—plus, by then there should be some solid slider options.

I was really hoping to hear about increased fouls. I knew it wouldn't happen, but it was hard not to dream.

Same here will buy Fifa once it hits sale which is usually late October or November. Overall, I am looking forward to Fifa this year since PES really dissapointed me this year luckily I was able to rent it off of a trail run during Gamefly so it is going to be weird with Fifa being my go Footy experience this year. Also I never thought we would see the day where Fifa would offer a better tactic system than PES.

I should play around in the demo more, but I'm not 100% sold on the tactics update being great...but perhaps it is a nice improvement.

I just love that in 18 if I tell my CDM to stay back, he actually does quite often and will be shielding my defenders.

My initial thoughts on 19 were that they removed a bit of the options but now offer the ability to switch systems on the fly. I should go fire up the demo and play around with it, though, I've been playing 18 so much that I've mostly forgotten about the demo.
