How do YOU play your Franchise?

I want to get input on how you guys approach playing your Franchise and maybe you can help me (or others) out in the process . I have a goal to finish a complete season with my Braves and actually go thru to the offseason, etc.

My math may be slightly off but i believe I have about 90 games with just the NL EAST and the other 72 are other NL series and interleague play?

So i figure my NL east games are most important but i don't want to get bored playing the same 5 teams 18+ times.

I also want to play in as many different parks as possible to keep things fresh.

I'm thinking maybe play 25-50% of my division games? ( 23-45 games) and maybe 50% of all others? (35ish)

I'd be committing minimum 50-60 hours to actual gameplay, up to maybe 80. Im not sure if it's realistic for me, plus i want to play RTTS and a little DD somewhere.

That's my thought process on how to approach it but looking to see how others actually do it. I'm willing to try anything!

Edit: I know QC is an option but it just seems to play weird for me.i dunno..help!

I play every 5th game so I play through my entire rotation. It comes to roughly a game per week. Its enough to have an impact on the season, but also let my teams state show up in the standings.

I would highly recommend using the quick manage feature instead of just simming. I play every pitch of every game at the MLB level, but I use it for my minors. It helps keep you involved in every game and every decision. I sometimes take "scouting trips" where I just want to play a specific player. QM is great for that because you can hop into any situation where they are involved and hop right out once they're done, allowing you to get a good mix of a player lock system while still being in full control of the game. You can do it as much or as little as you want, I just highly recommend never full simming anything. Full simming keeps you distanced from your team, which breeds disinterest. QM keeps you involved in the team, and it only takes 5 minutes a game (at most, assuming you're never hopping in).

I'm about to complete my season for the first time, I've seemed to lose interest every year before this one. I started playing full games as the season started winding down but the first four months I was playing the first inning, simming 2-5 and then playing the rest. That allows me to move through a game fairly quickly, play a little with my starter and make all of the managerial moves unless my pitcher gets shelled during an inning I'm simming and the computer pulls him

Create myself as a CF for the yankees. Use quick manage until its my turn to hit. Manage every aspect of the organization except for scouting. 4 seasons deep so far

I'm in year 2023 with the White Sox and have played a lot of games. I have switched it up a few times but I think I found what I like the best.

I play two games in every divisional series.

Non-divisional, I play 1 game of every series unless it's a four game series then I'll play two games.

This season I also decided to play every game against my rival Cubs.

            Playoffs I play every game

I've never used Quick Manage. I may check that out.

Thats a great idea. Do I want to be a manager, coach, GM, player, or all at the same time? So many ways to play The Show.

Re: How do YOU play your Franchise?

I play every single pitch on my MLB roster. Currently at the beginning for my 2nd season with NYY.

I love the grind & with carry over option, I'm not in a rush (I play this game a lot, but it still takes me around 6 months to complete a season).

There's something satisfying yet heart crushing to lose in playoffs since it matters A LOT after a 6 months (in my case) marathon. The length is what's different from NBA, NHL, Madden... I actually care.

I could be eliminated in Madden and didn't care that much since I knew a month later, I'd be back again in my 2nd season playoffs. That is also why I do not sim in The Show since I'd get the same feeling... and I want to own all of my stats.

                      Just my take

                        One of 2 ways.
Either I go by pitching rotation, so start off opening day with ace then sim until my #2 starter pitches his second start, then sim until #3 starter makes 3rd start. So pitching right down the rotation using all 5 SPs equally.

                        Or

I just pick 1 game each week of the season and play it. Based on any criteria I want, such as home or Friday nights, or just at random.

I like to feel like its my team, so I download the latest hybrid roster. Sim to the September call ups play a few games and then get to the off season. After I make the off season moves, then take complete control and play most of the games each week.

I have a quick question for you or anyone else that might be reading this thread.

Is the QM bug still around? I'm talking about the bug where if you're in the middle of a game, and then you choose to QM to the end, it resets all your players' stats for that game to 0. The score and everything remains the same, but only the stats that happened in QM get recorded and everything that happened in the part of the game that you played gets earased.

I haven't played The show in 2-3 months or so, and I started playing again a couple days ago. I'm afraid to quick manage a game in progress because this bug happened to me a few times messing up my stats. I really hope it got fixed.

                            Thanks.

Re: How do YOU play your Franchise?

I want to have an impact on every game, but don't have time to play every pitch. I use the following system:

                              Innings 1-7:
-when batting, quick manage at-bats without RISP; play at-bats with RISP
-when pitching, quick manage all at-bats

                              Innings 8+:
-same as above for both pitching and batting, except if score is within 3 runs or less, then play all at-bats.

Using this method, my games typically take between 7-15 mins. On nights where I have the chance to play, my goal is typically to play an entire series at a time. I like this because:
                              1) I have an impact on every game
                              2) I can manage my bullpen and substitutions
                              3) I get to play the clutch at-bats in close games
