In this roster I take the latest EA roster and throw in players who aren't in the league anymore because of early retirement or some other off the field issue that isn't something heinous.
For example my first creation is one of my favorite 49ers, Patrick Willis. At age 33 Willis would be in the declining years but could probably still be a productive MLB. I try to take the last rating he had in a Madden game and degrade him accordingly. My current Willis has an OVR of about 85. Willis last was in M15 and had an OVR of 94.
Now I don't create anyone. Only guys I think still have gas left in the tank and could make an actual roster today at their current age. So don't suggest Peyton Manning please! And don't say he would be my QB2 because Manning wouldn't come back to the NFL to be QB2.
In the case of players who basically can't help but torpedo their own career (i.e. Aldon Smith) I take it in a case by case basis. Smith is someone who I am considering because his acts really only hurt himself. This is basically a fantasy "What if" roster. What if Willis never had injury problems? What if Megatron was still in the league? What if Aldon Smith never got in trouble off the field? You get the picture.
I also make players not currently retired, but also not in the NFL. Like Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel for instance.
I do take suggestions. I will not make every suggestion, just the ones I think fit the roster.
