Hard to believe, but here we are again for a third straight season. For those new to using rosters with 2K8, instructions for both the XBox 360 and PS3 versions can be found here. Feel free to ask questions or point out missing players in this thread.

WINNIPEG JETS, VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS, ETC.

The Winnipeg Jets are still on Atlanta's roster by default. If you wish to play a season as the Jets, use the 2K8 save file editor to swap Atlanta with the custom Winnipeg Jets team provided in the save file. (In the editor, go to Batch -> Roster Actions -> Swap Roster).

The Vegas Golden Knights exist as a created team. You can play them in Franchise mode by replacing an existing team with them.

Finally, this roster also contains created Stars and Predators teams with custom jerseys. (Again, you can use these teams by using the swap action in the editor.)

NOTES FOR FRANCHISE-MODE AND SEASON-MODE PLAYERS

It's highly recommended to use the editor (see above) to correct player salaries when entering Season or Franchise mode. Otherwise, salaries will be completely unrealistic. (Open your Franchise or Season save file in the editor, and go to Batch -> Contract Actions -> Re-assign salaries).

The 360 rosters are working but I have an updated version ( all trades, best rookies and some missing players created) on my USB that I would like to share with you guys, BUT ONLY if Tinpanalley and Snowdrift will give the OK for it.

You don't need my permission, man. You have just as much right to releasing rosters as anyone else. And remember, my file is just me taking snowdrift's PS3 file and making it 360 compatible for him because he didn't have a 360. So the only person that needs to ok anything is snowdrift. The reason I added the note about not doing things without permission was more for people outside our circle here taking these, screwing them up by doing things that make them not work, and then releasing them elsewhere. I just see that a lot in other game rosters. But you can feel free as far as I'm concerned. And thank you for doing the work!!

Base from Snowdrifts (all credits to him), updated every day (double-checked via TSN and The Hockey News), the best rookies and some missing players created, all trades and transactions done.
Hope you have some fun........use Horizon as usual

Note for Oct 7th: Checked the rosters once again because some players like Ales Hemsky or Antoine Vermette were still on their team spots. Released them to free agency

For the PS3 it's super simple, just create your own save, transfer to your computer and then replace the old USR-DATA file with mine.

For the 360: I don't have a 360, but I'll repost some stuff from other threads and hopefully some 360 owners can look at it and correct any misinformation.

Short version, from tinpanalley's thread:

Tinpanalley's first roster had instructions that came with it... Don't know if it helps:

1. Open a new roster save in Horizon and open "Contents".
2. Take this file and use the replace function over the file SaveData.
3. Hit the rehash-resign and close the save.

Long version:

For starters, as the instructions above say, you need to create your own roster-mode save within your own game. Then you transfer that to your computer and inject the new roster file into it in place of the old one. From the editor thread:

Everyone seems to get this wrong so I think I'm going to copy/paste this stuff to the first post later on. (XBox users correct me, please, if I messed up on any of these steps, or if any are missing.)

First of all, you have to have Horizon installed on your computer to use the editor with the XBox 360. I don't know what you did, so I'll just repeat all the steps to doing the transfer:

1. Before you start, back up your old save file in case things go wrong.
2. Open your OLD/ORIGINAL XBox 360 save file (*.ROS or SaveGame.DAT) with the editor. Edit whatever you want, then save the file with the name "SaveGame.dat".
3. Now open Horizon.
4. In Horizon, open your OLD .*ROS or *.FRN save file (Tools -> Package Manager -> Open).
5. Go to the CONTENTS tab.
6. Right-click "SaveGame.dat" and then click "Replace".
7. Choose the NEW file you saved with the editor in Step 2 as the replacement.
8. You should get a message that the file was replaced successfully. Now click "Save, Rehash, and Resign".
9. Transfer the file back to your 360.

I think you can also use the Device Explorer in Horizon for the same thing, but I have no idea how that works.

If Horizon doesn't work for you, or you're on a Mac:

It's a program for editing XBox 360 saves. Apparently, you can use Velocity instead on a Mac. Its usage is almost exactly the same as Horizon's. I don't know if it's a reliable program though. There's also a tool called Vantage for the Mac, but I know literally nothing about it.

I know this isn't the right thread for this, but why are your 2K5 rosters only "somewhat finished"?

Not even sure why I said that, maybe it's because a lot of teams are lacking transactions and there's barely any free agents.

It never occurred to me until now but you could theoretically play through a season as the Atlanta Thrashers as if they never left.

Are you gonna get to Free Agents in the near-future? guys like Francois Beachemin are gone and not coming back. I understand stuff like this is what the editor is for. but your revised ratings help.
