Sail/Flood/Texas Scheme
Patriots Offensive Playbook
-Scheme meant to stress field by overloading strong side with sail/flood concept - flat by running back, deep route and intermediary routes on same side
-You must run the ball. Passing every play will lead to predicability
-If your opponent can not adjust to a certain play, keep bringing it until they adjust. This scheme is not meant to be 100% rigid
-The main read is the running back. Once defense is tightening the short game, receivers and tight ends are unleashed in the intermediary/deep passing game
-Texas routes can be game breaker when opponent keys in on running back constantly running to flat. Keep an eye how opponent is covering RB
-Hot route weak side WR as a safety valve (ie- slant, drag, deep in). Use the whole field to your advantage
-Motion receivers as you see fit to detect man/zone and create overloads (marrying of routes)
-Put traps and draws as on the fly audibles in each formation
-Be audible ready
-Always count players in box and handoff if numbers in favor
-Run plays in any order, all plays tie together to create a philosophy
-Don’t be afraid to go off schedule and throw in HB/WR screens, just make sure you have numbers of blockers to your advantage
-Flip formations as you see fit, some plays work better with more real estate depending on ball placement
