Would it be worth it. (NCAA 2006)

I was thinking about buying an old PS2/XBOX, getting NCAA 2006, and having a jam session.

    I have for XBOX 360:
    NCAA 2009, NCAA 2011, NCAA 2012, NCAA 2013, NCAA 2014.

I loved '09, the gun slinging, although I did get exhausted with it when once I was #2 Cal, played #1 USC at the end of the season, we went to OT, and then we rematched for the national title. #3 OU (12-1) didn't budge.

2011 was fun except to many undefeated teams. Seemed like every year if you didn't go 13-0/12-0/11-0 you ran into being #7 at best.

2012 was and is fun, I still play.

2013, didn't like that much to be honest.

2014 was a ton of fun! Still play, just bored with it after almost 5 years of always playing it.

So, I was debating buying an old console (my first and only system has been 360), and getting NCAA 2006. I can get an XBOX and 2006 for $55 total. Controllers and cords included. A PS2 would bump it to $110.

Would I enjoy it you think, or should I just continue with the ones I have?

I still have two copies of 06. Currently playing Syracuse as my dynasty. Well worth it.

Yes I am debating on doing it. Road to glory player to dynasty sounds fun. 06 was the best Game and ncaa 04 was good too. Ps2 on Amazon for only 55.

I actually went through the same exact thing. I have '14 and '12 for PS3 and 360 respectively. One day I got a really bad urge to play NCAA 2006 on the PS2 and I found a copy of it on Amazon for $5. So I pulled the trigger.

When it got here it was a NCAA 2006 box with NCAA 09 copy inside.

ITS OFFICIAL. WENT ahead and bought an Xbox and NCAA 06 is on the way. 50 bucks total can't beat it. I was playing NCAA 13 for PS3 last night and it just took way to long. I just want to play the game and these games all take way too long to do anything other than in game play. Reminiscing on the benefits of 06. Campus legend to dynasty here we come and I like that you can import you man to be a coach. Too much perks in 06.

Nobody ever mentions how NCAA 06 has absolutely, and I mean absolutely terrible, sim stats. 3-4 QBs a season having 200+ ratings, every QB in the nation completing 60%-70% of their passes, receivers topping out at like 60 catches a year with very few having 1,000 yards.

Game is way too flawed for me. Going to try NCAA 05.

Good site - sadly, what really needs to be addressed are the simulation statistics. The NCAA QB stats are so out of whack.

This game is in need of it's own editor, like NFL 2K5 has for it's sim engine flaws.

From that gen, I go with NCAA 07 - if you adjust the coaching strategies/aggression sliders, you can get near perfect statistics that represents the modern college game to the 06 college game.

I don't think NCAA 07 is perfect though, the "jump the snap" can be an irritating game feature and game breaking in some ways if you don't do much pre-snap, but it beats having to battle QBs that have a 190-200+ rating so you'll never win a freakin' Heisman in 06.

However, what I play the most, is connecting NCAA 12 with Madden 12. It's the best experience I have with college to NFL football simulation and something I always go back to despite their flaws. It sucks, because I actually prefer the gameplay of 06 the most, but it's a broken game outside of that.

I still play this game. I feel like it's the best NCAA game from a fun prospective. I've still got a few buddies that every once in a while we will get together with a case of beer and play for hours. I've gotten some great rosters from Volwalker, that I've went into greater detail editing. I tried 07, but the jump the snap feature sucks. 06 is probably the best game for running the option. I believe after 06 they screwed with the AI and the DE always took the pitch man making it impossible to run the option true to form.
As far as sim stats being off, When I play a season I try to play as many other games as possible outside of my user team just for fun. I know it doesn't address the issue, but you can sort of be a part of how the season plays out, which I feel breaks up any monotony. Killer soundtrack also!

I agree. I prefer 06. I like being able to take your race for Heisman and make him a coach afterwards. The only thing I would take is if it had the spring game in it like 07. 06 feels like they really put so much into it. Especially with the menu and the real life instant replays. THX was partner with on 06 as well to give it the best sound quality of any NCAA
