Surprise Coaching Change for the Chippewas

Mount Pleasant, MI - You'd think that a successful 7-6 season for the Central Michigan Chippewas couldn't possibly turn for the worst, right? Wrong.

After just three seasons with the Chippewas, Central Michigan Head Coach Dan Enos has decided to step away from the Chippewas and take the QB coach job at Alabama. At Central Michigan, Enos went 13-24, grabbing a bowl win at the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl against Western Kentucky along the way.

A native of Michigan, Enos is disappointed to leave the Chippewas.

Born in Dearborn, Enos went to Michigan State and was the quarterback there from 1987 to 1991.

The search for the new Chippewas head coach for the football program is on, with names such as Mike Cummings, the offensive coordinator for CMU, on the radar for Dave Heeke.

We have many options in front of us. Sure, we're looking at people already in the program, such as Mike [Cummings] or Joe [Tumpkin]. But we're also looking at our broader options, such as the Offensive Coordinator at Minnesota, Matt Limegrover, or Wide Receiver Coach at Bucknell, Andrew Chambers. By the end of March, we will have decided on who we want our head coach to be to lead the football program.

AD Dave Heeke also mentioned names, such as Tony Franklin from Louisiana Tech, as potential candidates for the coaching job.
