71 SOG, 42-10 in faceoffs. 1 goal scored

I don't get it. One timers, shots from the slot, slappers from the point and circles, ect... 1 goal in 71 SOG but I give up 3 on 27 shots. I know hockey, I play hockey, I know how to get quality shots, but holy crap. Is anyone else having this issue? Any tips? Sliders or settings? This is ridiculous and it really makes me not want to play the game offline.

No, I don't want to win every game 8-0. I wouldn't mind just having shots even with the opponent but I was getting some good looks and screened shots but the goalie seemed to stop everything. The one goal I scored went off one of the defenseman.

You can definitely nerf the hell out of the goalies and still get reasonable final scores. Mine are something like 10 for save reaction time, 25 for cross crease reaction time, and 90 for screen effectiveness, etc. Shooting % remains below 10% as a team. Don’t be afraid to mess around. You won’t just up and start scoring 12 goals a game, at least not on all-star or higher.

Note: I do have pass speeds and shot speeds lowered too, so that probably factors as well; but point remains, don’t be shy about gimping the goalies.

season (8 min periods) - all star - TNK's sliders but I adjusted them a bit as far as game speed and penalties.

The next game I played I still had 70 sog but I won 5-3. I started pulling the LT when I shot and I was having some better chances. I normally play EASHL and I just started playing offline again a few days ago. It's probably just an adjustment period.

Not sure if this will be helpful or not, but:

I'm using TNK's sliders on all-star/6 minute periods.

I've found a nice medium where I get between 25-35 shots per game, and my goaltenders both have save %'s around .915 and .919.

I upped the human slapshot, one timer and shot accuracy sliders to 60/55/55, and have averaged 3.53 goals per game. I was just finding that with the stock sliders, I was getting plenty of pucks through, but that a lot of them were ending up either in the goalies chest, or missing the net wide.

This has actually allowed me to up the goaltending sliders to 60's across the board (except for the deflection one) for the CPU. You still see some ridiculous saves, but goals that should get through, get through more often.

I usually have this issue when I start playing each year. You just have to lock down the muscle memory of powering up and executing the shot gesture on the RS, and aiming your shots well. Additionally, sometimes it takes that extra pass or extra read on the play to maximize who is going to score the goal.

I went from impossible to score despite dominating possession and shots, to a normal to high-ish goal scoring rate per game. It sounds like your biggest issue is shot execution, and getting your offensive play to a level that properly breaks down the D and the goalie.

Yeah, that's why I was curious about his settings. I've maybe gotten to 40 SOG once with 10 minute periods (though, I don't use TNK's sliders).

For real. I pretty much use his sliders as I helped him create his slider set. Putting it on Superstar was my idea for example.

There is no way you are getting 70 shots on those sliders and if you are somehow managing to accomplish this, it would absolutely have to be at the expense of shot quality.

This makes zero sense.

I'm not making this stuff up to make myself sound better. I even took a screen shot of the end game stats. I was just asking a question. 2 games in a row I had 70 SOG on AS with 8 min periods. I haven't played offline since but only because I had surgery on my eye. Once I get back on I will verify my slider set and let you know what changes I made, but I really didn't change much. If I am mistaken in my slider set I will freely admit the fact.

I appreciate everyones responses to my question.

I had the same issue of sorts with AlTito’s slider set, until I tinkered with it for a few weeks and found my happy place. I could put up 40v10 shots on goal and still lose 1-2.

I didn’t nerf the goalie at all, I bumped the shot accuracy up a little bit.

Also, you said you were playing on AllStar, what is the computer difficulty rating? If that is up too high it can have just as much of an effect as playing on superstar.

Not criticizing at all but just pointing out that TNK's sliders were developed for superstar. Sometimes the sliders change for whatever reason so I check them before each game to make sure they are correct.

They are labeled as All-Star sliders. As far as them changing, I've had the same issue with MLB The Show. When ever a roster update happens it seems that some of my settings change also. I too have to check them before every game.

Yes they are labeled All star but his difficulty is at superstar. I too am having trouble scoring but never did in previous games. I get many great chances but the goalies stop everything. I will keep at it, could just be a bad stretch for my team. Enjoy they the game, hopefully things get back to normal for you once you get the settings ironed out.
