    Voting for Tiered Playoffs

    Hello all!

I've created a Google Form for you all to fill out, if you would like, to help me decided the playing fields for the four tournaments that will be held in-game. For the Taco Bell Championship, it's obvious that Team 6 is Central Michigan, so decide how you want to vote for that one.

Anyways, here is the link. Hope you all can help and I'll most likely have that up for a day or two, to give you some time to vote on it. Thank you for all to those who decide vote and have a Happy New Year!

Rittenberg Roundup: Chips earn promotion to Tier 7 after slaughtering of Idaho

        Adam Rittenberg, ESPN Senior Writer
        December 15, 2013
        -------------------------------------------
New Orleans, LA - The Chippewas were on a mission in the game against Idaho, as they produced more than 500 yards of offense. The Chippewas truly put the "game" in Central Michigan, with an astounding 59 points scored in the game. The win against the Vandals earned the Chips the first ever promotion to a higher tier and it gave Central Michigan a double-digit win season. However, the game did come at a slight cost. Both Marcus Jackson and James Mitchell were out of the game with miscelleanous injuries. Jackson came out of the game with a problem with his hip and Mitchell went out with a bruised rib. However, both injuries are anything but major, as both are expected to be healthy for the Taco Bell Championship. Nonetheless, the Chippewas pushed through and beat the Vandals, 59-17.

In the first quarter, Chambers and Wade were able to get the run game going with Mitchell early in the game. A drive by the Chippewas resulted in a touchdown, which was scored off a two-yard rushing run for Mitchell, his first in many weeks. On the second drive, after a stop on defense, the Chips tried to get the passing game going. On just the third play of the drive, Jackson when down with an injury and he wouldn't step onto the field again during that game. However, as aforementioned, the injury shouldn't be a worry for Chippewa fans, as Chambers has confirmed he will be 100 percent by the beginning of the Taco Bell Championship. "The hit on Marcus didn't look good, but he only suffered a bruised rib," said Andrew Chambers in his post-game conference. "Both the training staff and I expect him to be healthy for the semi-finals of the Taco Bell Championship and he should be able to have some reps before the game." Either way, Xavier Deloach had a day in the absence of Jackson. At the end of the second drive, after Deloach got a couple plays in, Tim Webb kicked a chip shot through the uprights to take a 10-0 lead, which the Chippewas would take to the end of the first quarter.

Idaho quarterback, Vincent Pino, tried to bring the Vandals back into the game with his passing abilities, but he was unable, as Justin Crum came up big and stopped the Vandals on third-and-one. Deloach cashed in his first touchdown of the day on a slant route to Garrett Ward. The Chips were running away with it early on in the game. The Vandals then drove down the field and ended up within the one-yard line. However, the Chippewa defense came up with a humungous stop on third-and-goal on the one-yard line, as they stuffed Brandon Hill as he tried to run in on a Halfback Dive play. The Vandals were able to score a field goal, to cut the margin by three points. Central Michigan nullified that score, as Deloach was able to lead the Chippewas on a quick, 17-second drive. A quick 17 yard throw from Deloach to Ward set up a Corner Strike play that was thrown to and caught by Jarvis Dowdell for 53 yards. After the catch, Dowdell beat Brett Dukes and burnt him on the right hash marks. The Vandals would score a touchdown as time expired to cut the score down to a sizable lead for the Chippewas.

The second half of the game was even worse for the Vandals, if you can imagine. The Chippewas ran the clock for most of the third quarter, as both Mitchell and Marquis Harris punched the ball into the end zone on one-yard rushing touchdowns. The score to end out the third quarter was 38-10. The Chippewas would not stop there, as they move to an aerial raid, with Deloach throwing strike after strike. Even though the defense allowed a passing touchdown to give the Vandals a grand total of 17 points, Deloach throw three balls for touchdowns, two of which were to Jermaine Harris. The final touchdown of the game, with 18 seconds, was caught by Dowdell, for his second touchdown catch on the day. The Chippewas advance to Tier 7 on an astounding win against the Idaho Vandals, 59-17. The Vandals will join Tier 8 for next year's play.

Voted for the playoff seeding. I really enjoy the work you have put into this dynasty. Its hard to imagine the amount of work you put in to set up the post season.

              Pro-Rel Playoff Update

Mount Pleasant, MI - After the win for Central Michigan against Idaho, the Pro-Rel Playoffs continued both today and yesterday. Wake Forest and Louisiana Tech participated in the Gator Bowl on the 15th, while UTEP, Memphis, Boston College, Toledo, Middle Tennessee and UNLV played their respective pro-rel playoffs earlier today.

              Taxslayer Gator Bowl
Wake Forest and Louisiana Tech played in a very close game that ended up going into overtime. Wake Forest was able to escape the Gator Bowl with a win over the Bulldogs, even with a huge 4th quarter comeback, led by Eddie Cooper, the Louisiana Tech quarterback. Wake Forest remains in Tier 3, while Louisiana Tech has to play a 12-0 Cincinnati team in a fight for another spot in Tier 3.

In the Meineke Car Care Bowl, the UTEP Miners came to play and earned promotion in a win against 1-12 Memphis. Memphis kept it close until the fourth quarter, which was mostly because of turnovers and stops in the red zone by the Tiger defense. Memphis are relegated to Tier 7. They become the second team to become relegated, after Idaho was relegated to Tier 8 in the R+L Carriers Bowl.

Middle Tennessee State and UNLV were pretty much a copy of each other in terms of statistics. However, the Blue Raiders had a higher red zone conversion rate than the Rebels, which gaves MTSU the edge on UNLV. Middle Tennessee earn promotion to Tier 4, while the Rebels will be relegated at the end of the year to Tier 5.

Thanks for your help! It's a little time consuming, but it's not that bad. I've got the hang of it, so it's all good. I really enjoy this sort of thing and I can't wait for the seasons to come.

Thanks again to whughes and phlstar for voting for the playoffs! Get your votes in by tomorrow morning because I really want to get the Taco Bell and the Dr Pepper tournaments going. I'm gonna try to keep it in the chronical order that I have it set, so that's it for the pro-rel playoffs for now.

                  Voted in the poll!

Congrats on the promotion, like you said it was pretty much expected that you would win, but it's always nice to do it in convincing fashion! I'd expect you to go into the next tier with some solid momentum and maybe even challenge for another promotion right away.

I really love this dynasty now that you've gotten to the Promotion/Relegation playoffs. The originality of the idea is really fresh, and it's actually a lot of fun reading up on the recaps of the other games around the country and seeing how teams were able to scrap and save themselves from relegation or gain promotion. It really gives a whole new meaning to all of the bowl games!

Thanks for the vote, Moose! It’s always great to get a huge win like I did against Idaho. Hopefully I can do well in Tier 7 and I won’t get sent down to Tier 8 again but we’ll see. Just wait until all of the tiered playoffs! I can’t wait to get those in and I plan on doing at least the semi-finals of the Taco Bell Championship, so stay tuned for that! Thanks for keeping up with this and, again, thanks for helping with the decision making for the playoffs!

Hey guys, so I've been working on getting all the tiered playoffs today and yesterday and I've finally got it. So I have the previews for the game against Boston College and between UTEP and Colorado State (the teams voted for the Taco Bell playoffs) all ready, but I want to get the article written too. I don't have any more time today to get stuff out. I have the BC-CMU game finished, so, in the morning, I'll do my best to get the preview out and then I'll work on the box score for both games.

Also, thanks to those who voted. It made all the difference and I think that the seedings make sense.

The relegation system is pretty cool. I’ve always thought of doing it but seeing it done here might inspire me.

Central Michigan comes off a huge win against Idaho in the pro-rel playoff at R+L Carriers Bowl for the team to earn promotion to Tier 7, while Boston College comes off a loss in overtime against Toledo to prevent promotion to Tier 5.

Central Michigan participated in the first pro-rel playoff in history and the Chips make history once more this postseason as they will participate in the first tiered playoff game in history. Chambers looks to lead the Chippewas to a win in both of these historic games.

Both teams are facing some injury problems, especially on defense. The Chippewas are missing Landon Phillips, who has been out with a torn ACL all year long. Richard Lemon is also out with a pulled hamstring, which he suffered in the game against Idaho. Boston College, on the other hand, is missing three players, including Ira Ferguson and Marcus McLaughlin, who have both been out for quite some time and are definitely not playing.

                            Projected Score
                            Central Michigan, 27-24

The Chippewas should come out with a win, especially coming off the win against Idaho. Boston College is coming off a loss to Toledo and the win for Central Michigan should give them some momentum heading into the game. Additionally, the game will be played in the backyard of the Chips at Ford Field, which should give them an advantage over the Eagles.

                            Game Notes
Colorado State and UTEP have already played this year. UTEP defeated the Rams, 23-6, at Colorado State.

The second game of the Taco Bell semi-finals is between conference foes, UTEP and Colorado State. They faced once during the regular season, where the Miners topped the Rams, 23-6, at Colorado State. If the regular season game showed anything, it's that the Miners can shut down the Rams' offense.

                            Projected Score
                            UTEP, 38-14

The Miners should take care of the Rams in a throwdown in New Mexico. UTEP is the one-seed in the tournament, and it'd be surprising if they got knocked out early, even though the Rams had the same record walking into the postseason.

The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl will begin at 3:00 pm EST, with the New Mexico Bowl following after at 7:30 pm EST.
                            -------------------------------------------
Glad I (finally) got this out. Not even kidding, as I was doing this preview, I started getting ads for Central Michigan lol. It'd be funny if I end up going to CMU after this. Anyways, I'm gonna try to get the game out later today, but I'll see.

Yeah, I've had a lot of time to work on it and I definitely plan on trying to get a lot out. I start school back up on Monday, so the posting may go down at that point. I've really enjoyed the system and hopefully, I can get the rest of the pro-rel playoffs done to get Season 2 started soon. I would definitely follow along if you decided to try out a relegation dynasty and I would love it if you used anything that I've done! Thanks for checking in!

Needless to say, this win would be HUGE for the program!
