Wyoming Takes Care of Fresno State Behind Big Day from Overstreet
It was not a great sight for Wyoming fans when their star running back Nico Evans went down with an injury late in the first quarter.
Evans was named the starter a few weeks into the season after initially being beaten out for the starting job to start the season. Evans has rushed for over 100 yards in every single one of his games as starters, establishing himself as one of the top running backs in college football.
However, Kellen Overstreet has proven to be a solid backup ever since he was demoted from the starting job, and today he showed that he is more than capable of manning the starting job if need be. Overstreet was electric, rushing for a 44-yard touchdown on only his second carry of the game. Overstreet finished with 162 yards on 22 carries and two total touchdowns, as he also added a receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter that officially put the game away.
This Wyoming team, and especially the offense, has been rolling as of late, as this is now their sixth consecutive win as they remain undefeated in conference play. Their winning streak will be seriously challenged next week as they face perennial MWC power Boise State at home.
