Strange to not see dynamic potential so far in 18 when it was in for previous versions. I've moved up fairly quickly in my 18 RTTS but still a C potential. Also, learning a new position should take into account your players height. No team in their right mind would make a 5'8" outfielder learn first base.

Loved everything I saw except two things, really hated they got rid of the caps. In made the mode so much better imo last year. Also didn't like the look of whatever that thing they were choosing before an at-bat.

Loved their continued player interaction interface and those training games look straight fire.

        Boss Challenge?

Edit: I wish they used the time it took to implement this on other things. But we will see

looks cool. The PCI minigame might actually be useful.

Hence the return of the All-99 player.

It's fine with me, as long as I can still adjust my growth to make it similar to last year's caps (and I should be able to as long as I screenshot the '18 archetypes and refer back to that when deciding which stats to raise cap on).

I'm interested when they say there's a minigame that teaches how to use the PCI "better" - I'm pretty set in my ways when it comes to that but I'm always open to what the devs are saying about the mechanics they designed themselves.

            Good video.

I liked the core gameplay behind RTTS in '18. I like that your accomplishments and in game performance dictated points and attribute growth. It made is much more organic. I did not even mind the archetypes, I thought it at least showed some thought in the further development of mode and its direction.

I did not like being restricted to a lower tier player. I don't know about you guys but I have never day dreamed of being a bench utility player for the Minnesota Twins? I mean sure you could eventually exceed the expectation of the CAPS with equipment (more mode monetization). But to raise up from a C you had to play at exceeding expectation level for an insane amount of time. I am in year 8 of my career and I am just getting to a B in my 28 year old shortstop. I guess it is realistic in its way of being true to baseball. But come on, I want to break records, be an All Star, be the next Iron Man, steal all of the bases in the world, whatever it may be. I am not spending my time to be a scrub. I do that in real life.

Is it bad that I've dreamed about how cool it would be to be a slightly above average 3B and make a few all-star games lol. That would be my ideal career mode

And now for the most important question about this mode:

Are there still no microtransactions whatsoever?

They will probably say that like last year, but there is still equipment, so it still won't really be true. At least the CAPs have apparently been lifted, so buying equipment will no longer be the only way to get your player to their maximum potential

Don't get me started on that. Yes, they removed the ability to purchase training points directly from the mode, but you you would still need to venture into DD to get the equipment, and the best equipment was probably going to require that you purchase stubs, especially with all the equipment slots available.

So, technically there were micro transactions in RTTS. You just had to go into another mode to access them.

Looks impressive on the surface. I didn't touch RTTS at all last year, but I can see that changing if all these new features pan out. Thursday should be fun.

Doesnt matter if you got drafted by the team you want, you're going to get traded 3 times anyway lol

Seeing in the video that they are still doing the late round storyline it could definitely still be an issue in this years...

Unless they allow you to choose your storyline (early rounds pick, late round pick, etc.), though I doubt it
This was one of the few things madden did well in their CFM when creating a player. You would choose the background story. If you were a top pick you started at a higher overall, but progressed slower, middle pick was average on both ends, and late pick was lower overall but you progressed quickly.

The big things we need are 1) better logic and with that dynamic potential. Something based on how fast your player is progressing/earning points that determines what your new potential is, and is constantly changing until your 2nd or 3rd season in the bigs. The other thing is potential ALWAYS needs to be at or higher than your ovr, no reason why our 93 rated player should have a C potential. So thats #1.

And 2), physical attributes like height and weight need to be accounted for more with attributes. A 6' 300 pd player should not have 99 speed, a 5'8 player should not have 1st baseman skills, shorter players should start with better plate vision because their K zone is smaller but taller players should start with more power, etc etc.

I don't play this mode, but am happy for those of you who do. It seems like RTTS got a pretty substantial face lift this year. You can get in tight with both Jedd Gyorko and Chris Beck among other things. I counted no fewer than 4 dudes narrating this 2 min video, so it would appear this mode was a focal point of their development cycle.
