Turns out I missed your last post in the Part II thread linking to this one. Spent some chunks of time this weekend catching up and, man, it's so nice to sink back into this dynasty report. Things are looking good for the Tigers at the moment. Fitting, though, that in the Kentucky game a lefty QB broke Jared Lorenzen's -- the Hefty Lefty -- single-game passing record!

The purple pops. I know that the tradition is the white on gold forever and always, but that's what the real world is for. LSU can have that tradition in real life and in here, Geezy can shake things up.

Really good to see this dynasty continuing. I feel like the move to LSU, even though we all wanted him to keep his job, has breathed some very new life into this report. Maybe new life that we didn't even know it needed.

What a performance. This team is really figuring things out! Mason has that offense firing on all cylinders, glad he can find some weapons emerging as the season goes on. The defense is being opportunistic, which is all you can really hope for! The CPU may get its yards as the games go on, but to make some big plays at the right time is the way you can reel of the wins, and no doubt about it everything came together perfectly for you against Auburn. Southern Miss is going to be a big test as they seem to have your number quite a bit, so can't afford to get too complacent or look ahead to that huge Bama game the week after.

Agreed man...what a turnaround! Hopefully we can make it count and do some damage here in the SEC down the stretch.

Well, that's a stark contrast to last weeks game that is for sure. Three defensive touchdowns! I am not sure I have seen that in a long time, I am 100% sure I have never had the pleasure of doing it myself.

Love the performance from Trey Wade, he kind of said: "Look, boss, I can play".

I'm not so sure I have scored three defensive touchdowns in a single game myself, but I'm honestly not in the mood to click through 18 seasons worth of dynasty report pages to figure it out. lol I'm sure there's some random game I have forgotten about somewhere in there.

Trey Wade is the man. I rarely control him yet he continuously makes plays on his own. 31 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 defensive touchdowns (all career-highs) in seven games ain't too shabby. He's a guy I have always liked from afar, whether it was studying him as a prospect a while back at Tulane or playing against him. I must say that aspect of taking control of a team you didn't necessarily build yourself but are familiar with has been a lot more fun than I expected.

Didn't look past them, ay? Helluva run you've got this squad on. Interesting to see what kind of run you give the Tide

This season has been incredible. I did not think we had a 4-game winning streak in us this year, but here we are, sitting right in the thick of things in the SEC West race with five games to go. I am anxious to face Bama, but absolutely cannot afford to overlook Southern Miss, who has given Coach Geezy's teams fits throughout the course of this dynasty.

This felt like another one of those games that was pretty important to win based on the schedule the rest of the way. Good win and really love seeing the ebbs and flows over this season. It's a new way to win every week.

I would say that that's been the most satisfying part of year 1 with LSU - the way we find so many different ways to win. We are literally 3 plays away from being 2-5 and this entire narrative being completely different.

Great to hear from you again Big Mike...Yes sir a lot has changed since the last time you checked in and Coach Geezy has indeed moved on to Baton Rouge.

You're absolutely right about this report needing some new life. Don't get me wrong, I miss my Green Wave and playing at the dome, but this year one with LSU has completely reinvigorated me, especially with the way the season has gone thus far with all the close games.

I can't express enough just how rewarding it is to be able to take over a new team this many years into a dynasty. The dymanic of playing with a team you played against all these years and a team that has guys you once recruited but missed on - it is really compelling. Not to mention the idea of being in direct competition with the previous team you built. I am having an absolute blast with LSU.

This is a very fun team to play with, and I have mentioned this many times but playing games at Tiger Stadium just "feels" so much bigger and on a much larger scale than anything we ever had at the dome with Tulane.

Very happy you found this new thread and that you're now back on board for the ride...also nice catch on the lefty parallel in the Kentucky report; I completely missed that correlation.

I can't say enough about Rob Mason, who by the way, with 88 SPD, 91 THA, and 87 THA, should be rated way higher than an 83 overall IMO. Has he been as good as my last QB at Tulane, Jimmy McBride? No. But there's something scappy about him that I like. His ability to extend plays with his legs has been something I have not had in a long time, and he seems to make everyone else around him better. He IS our offense, and he truly does remind me of Michael Vick back during his early Atlanta years. After a pedestrian start to his career, he is now finally living up to the name "White Mike." I attributed the quote to "offensive coordinator Anthony High" in an article last week, but I truly do feel as though we can win a championship with this guy (the SEC at a minimal), and we may be in position to do that sooner than later if things go our way here down the stretch this season.

The defense is definitely flawed, particuarly in the secondary, but as you stated, they just flat-out make plays when needed and do just enough for us to win.

The entire team has meshed together well. If the offense struggles, the defense steps up, if the defense struggles, the offense steps up. I was not expecting a Cinderella story in year 1, but after a somewhat rough start to the season, we have won some very close games and are now close to something special here if we can keep it going. I am really loving the makeup of this team and the redemption story overall. LSU Football is BACK!

Eve Jewell of ESPN's SEC Network reports that LSU received commitments from three prospect this weekend, landing 4-star Texas LB Derek Kerr (6-4, 252 pounds, 4.38 40-time, #9 rated MLB prospect), 4-star South Carolina WR Christian Smith (5-10, 172 pounds, 4.52 40-time, #6 rated WR), and 3-star Louisiana RB Darryl "D.J." Weaver (5-8, 208 pounds, 4.42 40-time, #67 rated RB prospect, juco-jr.). All three players had visited LSU's campus this week and were in attendance during the team's 49-14 win over Auburn Saturday Night.

According to Jewell's sources, who interestingly seem to now primarily be at LSU ever since D. Geezy's arrival in Baton Rouge, Kerr is the #1 rated player on the Tigers' recruiting board and has been since the start of the team's 2028 recruiting campaign. With his incredible size and sub-4.4 speed combination, the team believes he could be a game-changing player for the Tigers' defense immediately and in multiple roles.

"I want to commit right now to take my talents to Baton Rouge," said Kerr in a phone interview, who admitted that LSU was behind both Texas A&M and Oklahoma throughout the entire recruiting process up until this past weekend's visit to Baton Rouge. "Coach Geezy, (defensive coordinator) Charles Kelly, and (linebackers coach) Mark Richards all stayed on me from day 1 and told me that I was the top guy on their board and they never wavered. They have a specific plan for me as both an inside and outside linebacker as well as some defensive end. I didn't feel that same love from the other schools and I just felt like I was prioritized week after week after week by them. I am hyped up for next fall to get here and to help get this team some championships. Geaux Tigers!"

Combined with current LSU true freshmen Will McNeal (76 ovr, 88 spd) and J.J. Brooks (74 ovr, 83 spd), the addition of Kerr will give the Tigers a very fast and versatile linebacker corps for the foreseeable future.

With the Tigers' entire wide receiver group set to return next fall, Smith is likely a redshirt candidate. However, in the case of Weaver, the former John Curtis Christian High School star could potentially find an early role alongside current true freshman RB Scottie Rodgers (76 ovr) in the team's fairly thin offensive backfield.

SEC | Tulane-Bama a huge game as usual

Molly McGrath of ESPN's SEC Network reports that all eyes will be on New Orleans this weekend as #15 Tulane (5-2, 4-1) hosts #1 Alabama (7-0, 4-0) in what will be a crucial SEC matchup as the season winds down. The winner of this year's Tidal Wave Party rivalry game will take over first place in the SEC West Division, and will control their own destiny the remainder of the season in conference play.

Alabama, who won national titles in 2024 and 2025, is a whopping 59-2 since the 2023 season, but both losses came to Tulane (2023 and 2026), who were coached by now-LSU first year head coach D. Geezy during those seasons. Ironically, should the Crimson Tide defeat the Green Wave on Saturday, Alabama's matchup versus the Tigers (5-2, 4-1) in week 10 could decide the SEC West. A Tulane win however, would give the Green Wave the tie-breaker edge due to their head-to-head 49-21 win over LSU back in week three, along with the hypothetical head-to-head win over Alabama.

Geezy's Green Wave knocked off Alabama in a 31-16 shocker at Tuscaloosa a season ago, ending a 39-game winning streak for the then-two time defending national champion Crimson Tide. This weekend however, Geezy and the Tigers will be rooting for the Tide to exact revenge on the Wave and come away victorious in the Big Easy.

Of note, either Alabama or Tulane has won every single SEC West Division title since 2008, with LSU being the last other team to win it 20 seasons ago in 2007.

LSU | Team to go back to its traditional home look this upcoming Saturday

Carley McCord of WDSU-TV New Orleans, who has been curiously quiet ever since week three's "alleged" incident, reports that #18 LSU will turn back the page and wear its traditional white on gold look at home for this upcoming weekend's game versus #16 Southern Miss. Bucking tradition, the team had worn purple jerseys for every home game this season up to this point at the request of first year head coach D. Geezy, as previously reported by McCord.

The Golden Eagles will reportedly wear their black jersey/black pants combo during Saturday night's big matchup.

Asked who her source was by WDSU anchorwoman Juliana Mazza during the on-air news desk report, McCord refused, and things seemed to get weird between the two women just before the broadcast quickly cut to a commercial break.

Yes!...Kerr very well could play defensive end, linebacker, and the STAR defensive back position in some formations. No idea why the thought of using him as the Star DB in some packages never crossed my mind. Great observation by you sir!

So I figured this is probably as good as time as any to announce that after a long and thoughtful process, my soon-to-be high school graduate son has officially decided to enroll next year at LSU! For those that have been following my work since the MaddenMania days, yes this is the same son that I once played a Northwestern dynasty with side-by-side back when he was 6 years old.

I thought this was a pretty neat twist to share here being that obviously this is the school I am doing my dynasty report with now. We are all already wearing LSU gear around the house and have an LSU flag in our front yard.

Southern Miss stunned LSU in their last meeting, winning 20-18 on a late 52-yard field goal by PK Chris Pierce in 1994 at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers' head coach at that time, Curley Hallman, was fired the Monday following the loss; Hallman, ironically, was Southern Miss' head coach from 1988 to 1990 prior to his stay in Baton Rouge from 1991 to 1994.

Game Capsule: A team first year LSU head coach D. Geezy is very familiar with from his time at Tulane, #16 Southern Miss heads into Baton Rouge having firmly established themselves as one of the nation's top teams over the past several seasons, achieving double digits wins every year dating all the way back to 2020. The Tigers and Golden Eagles have only met twice previously, once in a 1994 matchup in which USM defeated LSU in Baton Rouge 20-18, and also in a 13-0 Tigers home win all the way back in 1951.

Likewise, Geezy is 10-5 as a head coach versus the Golden Eagles, facing them annually as one of Tulane's top rivals going back to their time together as Conference USA member schools. Notably, Geezy has lost to Southern Miss in 4 of his past 8 meetings, though all four losses came in road contests at Hattiesburg. Correct, the Star is a hybrid LB/S in the 4-2-5 that can play near the LOS as a linebacker/box safety or line up and cover the slot or tight end.

Right now, I have a 6-7 junior safety named Mario Reed (78 ovr) playing the position. He probably will play it primarily next season, but Big Mike's suggestion of moving Kerr into the role in some sets is definitely something that will be explored as I'd like to have more speed at that spot (Reed only has 82 speed where as Kerr projects to have 92 speed).

Southern Miss is legit. If we don't come out strong and get out to a fast start, they can quickly exert their will - I know from experience.

Lil' Geezy will be studying Civil Engineering. He got into LSU's honors college on an academic scholarship.

And how's this for irony? I get home from work today, and he has two college admissions letters in the mail:

I should mention that Tulane offered him a scholarship as well a few weeks back, but he has ultimately chosen to be a Tiger. Really crazy to see real life intersecting with this fantasy world journey in a way.

LSU QB Rob Mason once again put his team on his back, both literally and figuratively, finishing with 337 passing yards and 2 touchdowns (1 passing, 1 rushing) as the Tigers won their 5th straight contest.

Geezy perseveres for another week | By virtue of #1 Alabama's 31-28 win over #15 Tulane, LSU's battle with Crimson Tide in two weeks will be for first place in the SEC West; Tigers will be looking for their first win over Bama since 2016

Baton Rouge, LA -- #16 Southern Miss had #18 LSU on the ropes, having stormed back from a 20-0 first half deficit to cut it down to 20-14 in the fourth quarter. However, as they have done for most of the 2027 campaign, the Tigers dug deep and figured out how to claw their way out of danger, coming through in crunch time for a thrilling a 23-14 victory Saturday evening at Death Valley. QB Rob Mason had another big night, making plays with both his arms and legs, and got contributions from a pair of unlikely contributors, junior receivers Chase Doyle and Russell Stephens, as the Bayou Bengals picked up their fifth consecutive victory following a 1-2 start this season.

Tigers junior WR Chase Doyle, the team's #5 receiver on the depth chart, stepped up big Saturday night and came away with a career-high 4 receptions for 84 yards, including this spectacular 19-yard second quarter touchdown which gave his team a 7-0 lead.

Southern Miss (5-3) lost starting QB Geoff Smith early in the game when a busted zone-read play resulted in him being pummeled by a host of defenders deep in Tigers territory. The senior signal caller would leave the game with a back injury and did not return, getting replaced by true freshman QB Lionel McIntyre for the remainder of the game. McIntyre, the nation's #3 rated high school quarterback prospect this past off-season, finished the drive, but USM's first legit scoring opportunity would end when RB Christian Jackson was stuffed behind the line of scrimmage on 4th and less than a yard from the LSU 6-yard line, resulting in no points and the game remaining scoreless late in the first quarter. McIntyre finished the night 16 of 25 for 189 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the first extended action of his career.

The turnover on downs would get cashed-in by the Tigers when Mason led an 8-play 90-yard drive that concluded with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Doyle to give the home team a 7-0 advantage. Doyle, who came into the game with only 1 catch for 23 yards on the season after catching 1 pass in all of 2026, finished with a career-high 4 receptions for 84 yards on the night to go along with his first career touchdown.

Doyle wasn't the only less-than-heralded passing target to have a big game, as Stephens also contributed a season-high 4 catches for 105 yards, and his strong effort on Saturday helped the Tigers get out to a 20-0 lead.

"There were some matchups we really liked tonight versus their slot defenders and both Chase and Russ stepped up big for us," said LSU offensive coordinator Anthony High. "They both came into this game knowing they'd get some opportunities this evening and they helped us jump out to a nice lead and both also made some key catches down the stretch."

Unfortunately for High and the rest of the LSU brass, the Tigers' big early lead did not last. The Golden Eagles were able to get back into the game when McIntyre found WR Ron Bell for a 27-yard touchdown that cut LSU's advantage to 20-7. Then, following a fumble by freshman WR/KR Brady Carter on the ensuing kickoff that was recovered by USM, McIntyre took advantage of a busted coverage on a 4th down blitz for a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jackson that made the score 20-14 with 8:42 to go in the contest; but that's when Mason came to the rescue for LSU as he has all year.

After a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown by Carter Jr. was called back due to a holding penalty by reserve FB Kenan Clemons, Mason would engineer an epic 14-play 63-yard drive that lasted 5:07, salting away the clock. The possession would culminate with a 34-yard field goal by freshman PK Ross Bryant, his third field goal of the night, giving LSU a 23-14 lead with 3:31 remaining. Mason, a former 4-star recruit out of Gretna, Louisiana, converted a big third down via a crazy 3-yard scramble early on the drive in which he retreated several yards backwards before picking up first down yardage, and he would eventually finish the night with 337 passing yards to go along with two total touchdowns (1 passing, 1 rushing).

"I told Coach I'll put this team on my back if I need to but we all step up and did what we have to do to win, week in, week out," said Mason, who has accounted for 20 touchdowns this season, including 6 on the ground. "I lift them up, they lift me up and that's what it's all about here in B.R. We're on a mission; believe that."

Now down by two scores and with time running out, Southern Miss' chances of winning would go from slim to virtually none on their next possession when WR Luis Green was stripped of the football by LSU true freshman CB Ryan Carter and the Tigers recovered with 3:12 to go. Playing under first year defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, the takeaway was the Tigers defense's 22nd on the year (17 interceptions, 5 fumble recoveries), which is the second most in the FBS this season thus far.

As they have done on multiple occasions this year, LSU's opportunistic defense came away with a big play in crunch time when true freshman CB Ryan Carter literally punched the ball out of WR Luis Rogers' grasp and CB Jerome Harmon recovered to help seal the Tigers' win late.

"My big bro made a mistake on the turnover, then he saw his 'TD' get wiped off the board, so I felt like I needed to step up and lift him up. He knows I got his back, always," said R. Carter of his older brother Brady, whose fumble earlier helped let the Golden Eagles back into the game.

Following the turnover, the Tigers would subsequently put the game away, getting two big first downs, including a game-clinching 23-yard pass completion from Mason to TE Lucas Rodgers off play-action with two minutes to go, enabling them to run out the rest of the clock. The time-melting drive was the theme of the entire fourth quarter, as the Golden Eagles would finish with just 5 total offensive snaps in the game's final period.

The win for LSU was their fifth straight this season, giving them their longest winning streak since the 2016 season, a year in which they reeled off 8 straight victories.

"I could not be more proud of our guys," said Geezy to ESPN sideline reporter Laura Rutledge after the game. "We're just going to keep stacking up wins and see where this thing takes us.

The Tigers (6-2) will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on arch rival and #1 ranked Alabama (8-0) in two weeks following a bye week. The Crimson Tide, who has won 2 of the past 3 national championships, defeated Geezy's old team Tulane this week 31-28 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. By virtue of their win, regardless of what happens this upcoming weekend with the Tide facing Vanderbilt and LSU off, the matchup in two weeks will be for first place in the SEC West. A win by Alabama will clinch them the division, while an LSU win will put them in first place with two conference games remaining.

The Tigers have not defeated the Crimson Tide since winning 24-17 on November 5, 2016 at Baton Rouge. The Bayou Bengals have since lost 10 straight to the Tide.

"This is what we play for and this is what we coach for - opportunities like this," said Geezy, who remarkably is the only coach since 2023 to defeat Alabama, beating the Crimson Tide last year 31-16 at Tuscaloosa as Tulane's head coach, ending what was a 39-game winning streak for the Tide and a streak that was bookend by a 27-24 Tulane win over Bama back in 2023.

"Would I be telling you the truth if I told you that two months ago I thought that we'd be traveling to Tuscaloosa in November with a chance to take over first place in the West? Probably not. But I do know this - this team has heart, and we can beat any team in the country. We're going to put in a couple of good weeks of practice and film study, and Alabama is going to get our best shot. This is what it's all about; we'll be ready and so should they."

With his team's 20-0 lead being cut to 20-7 late in the third quarter, LSU freshman WR Brady Carter Jr. fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, giving Southern Miss back the ball deep in Tigers territory and setting up an epic fourth quarter of action, starting with the players on the field and sideline along with the Death Valley crowd getting whipped into a frenzy with D.J. Jubilee's "Get It Ready, Ready" playing over the P.A. system for a crucial third down.

#18 LSU wore its classic white on gold home uniforms for Saturday evening's big non-conference matchup with #16 Southern Miss.




On just the second possession of the game for Southern Miss, senior QB Geoff Smith injured his back on this busted play that resulted in him being tackled for a loss by DT Robert Carrington and company deep in Tigers territory. The ill-fated drive would later stall when RB Christian Jackson was stuffed behind the line of scrimmage on 4th and inches from the 6-yard line.




RB Scottie Rodgers would only manage to gain 79 yards on 23 carries Saturday, however one of his 3 receptions for 95 yards on the night set up LSU's first touchdown of the game.




Junior wide receivers Chase Doyle and Joe Burnett celebrated with a back-bump following Doyle's 19-yard touchdown that gave the Tigers a 7-0 second quarter lead. The score was Doyle's first of his career, and he finished with a career-high 4 receptions for 84 yards on the night.

Pic 2 of 2: Tigers junior DT Marcus Ratliff, a junior college transfer playing in his first season in Baton Rouge, came away with this athletic interception to thwart yet another Golden Eagles drive deep in LSU territory in the first half.




It was all fun early for Mike the Tiger as LSU stormed out to a 20-0 lead in the second quarter.




True freshman OLB Will McNeal, a 4-star signee this past off-season, came away with his 6th sack on the year, in the first half. McNeal's 56 tackles, 14 tackles for losses, and 6 sacks are all team-highs and he has drawn comparisons to former Tulane star LB Mark Richards, LSU's current linebackers coach.




Southern Miss RB Christian Jackson had a hard time shaking loose for big gains on the ground Saturday night but did finish with 136 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown.




Like Doyle, LSU junior WR Russell Stephens also stepped up big and finished with a season-high 4 receptions for 105 yards on the evening.




Tigers senior reserve safety Johnnie Smith (#18), a team captain that is carrying-on LSU's leadership tradition of wearing the #18, gives freshman WR Brady Carter Jr. some tough-love following Carter's fumble on a kickoff return late in the third quarter that allowed Southern Miss to get back into the game down 20-7.




The rookie McIntyre nearly led a heroic comeback, and his 15-yard touchdown pass to Jackson on 4th down made the score 20-14 with 8:42 to go in the game.




After LSU's defense came away with a turnover late, QB Rob Mason found TE Lucas Rodgers for a 23-yard pass completion with two minutes remaining which allowed the Tigers to run out the clock.




After the game's final kneel-down, Mason and LG Brandon Johnson turned to celebrate with teammates after the Tigers clinched their 5th consecutive victory. The Tigers' winning streak is their longest winning since 2016, a year that they won 8 straight contests and the year they last defeated Alabama, who they will face in two weeks with first place in the SEC West on the line.
