Do you honestly feel 19 is better than 18? And your expectations for 20.
Over halfway into this cycle. Reflect on last year's title vs. This year. And where do you hope they improve in 2k20.Tags: None -

2k19 fixed blow-bys. As a defender, that alone almost has 19 ahead of 18.PSN: KarlMarx24 -

Agreed.
I remember when 2k19 first came out, a handful of guys on here were actually DEFENDING the fact that 2k18 was better because the blow-byes made it more "realistic".Comment

Truthfully, that was my MAIN problem with 2K18. I like 2K19 minus some of the quirky things that happens with the gameplay. I'm mainly a PNO player, so I probably deal with less issues than people that play the park and jrc.Comment

Yeah, blow-bys was a game breaker for me.Comment

Blow-bys should happen; when the player is better (i.e. slashers) or when the player has position. 2k18 was unrealistic in that respect.PSN: KarlMarx24Comment

I would say 19 is better than 18 for sure. More so if you're a primarily offline player, less so if you are big in the My team/Park/Rec/Pro-Am online gameplayComment

Improved Create A Player makes 19 way better than 18 for me.Comment

Yes, 2K18 was too much and opened up the cheese game for people willing to abuse it, but for someone wanting a more realistic driving experience playing against the AI, 2K19 is going back in the other direction. They mirror your inputs, body you up close, and still are able to unrealistically react and cut you off when attempting to drive, it's close to how 2K17 was.
Hopefully they can find a middle ground next time.Last edited by m29a; 04-20-2019, 08:54 PM.Comment

19 by a hair. The blowbys were exaggerated but the community made it seem like defense was impossible. Which it wasn't. What really was the cancer was the snatch-back. When you finally get good defensive position you got snatched 10ft. There was an inconsistsnt way to counter that too, but the defense was at too much of a disadvantage.
That said, i will scream this from the roof tops... 19 is the worst passing 2k game of all time. Slow, exaggerated, telegraphed passes. Minimal control and variety of arch and trajectory. And theres a feeding fremzy in the passing lanes. Then to top it off, the game nerfed athleticism and ball-handler movement.Comment

I have not played 19 but the interesting thing with 20 is it could end up being the last 2k before ps5 and next xbox come out if we get 21 on those late next year. Than the question is will those be like bare bones and will we have to like wait for like 22 on next gen to bring back features?Comment

I did like the freedom that 2k18 gave when trying to create your own shot. You could really do some creative things once you got the controls down. Of course online players didn't care about all the cool things you could do and only relied on two moves(blow-byes and snatchbacks) and ruined the experience for everyone.
It did feel good to lock those players up when you got into a zone defensively tho. Especially in teamup when I had to guard Giannis with an actual PF.
It took 4 months but I'm used to one-on-one play in this game now and I'm starting to like it more and more. Once you understand the angles available to you getting a good driving animation happens more often than not. The more I play the easier it is for me to get where I want on the floor even if my player has lower ball control ratings.
I think the pick and roll game is better in 19. Being able to do a hesitation dribble from triple threat position opened up scoring opportunities in PnR situations. You can get a good amount of threes if the defenders go under the pick this year.
I feel like the speed that the computer runs through plays took a step back this year since now there is so much contact. I would still like to see a better balance of players staying in contact with each other and not getting completely stonewalled, especially when it comes to off-ball movement.
I don't like the new play art. A lot of times the game doesn't tell you where to go next in the offense. I end up having to do a lot of guessing and it can lead to miscues if you don't understand the offensive set.
I feel the graphics and color depth improved this year. The game is gorgeous. I can only imagine how good it looks for PC players.
Overall I'd agree that 2k19 is better than 18. I really liked the freedom of movement in 18. Basketball is a very free flowing game and I think 2k nailed that aspect of the sport in 18. But 2k19 has grown on me once I figured out the one-on-one game a little more.Comment
