I know it might sound off to do this, but what I have been doing is when I'm in the field, I player lock the pitcher. When I am at bat, I player lock each batter when they are at bat. It is a lot of pausing, but the CPU makes all the decisions on pinch hitters, runners, and when to change pitchers. Might want to try it out.
