Madden 21

Just watched the stream from yesterday. Should we just start pushing what we want in Madden 21 now? Because Madden 20 just isn’t good enough. Underdelivered yet again. Added some cool stuff, removed some stuff and they’re back to talking about how great it feels to “find and hit the hole at the line”. Same crap, new year, spun in the same way.. “based off player feedback”. Remember back in 2004-2005 when we barely had the ability to talk to game designers and didn’t have much of a way to impact the game? Yet, it was the best year or two of football gaming ever. If we stop giving feedback can we get back to that?

WTF is this? Why do we need all of these blogs and “deep dives”? They suck to be honest. Sorry, but this is basically low end production being sold to us and it comes off cheap and most of it is a waste of time. They could fit almost everything they have talked about for the last month into ONE well written article. That approach would maybe at least give the illusion that they really added a lot to Madden 20. Right now, this feels pretty weak and Israel seems like a freaking tool up there nodding along as if they’re giving us a truly great game or something.

What will change this? PLEASE stop saying to not buy the game. It doesn’t work and isn’t practical. Sales can dip heavily but they’ll never fall below a certain threshold because of the NFL status and because Madden is the only game on the block. Just look at week 1 Madden sales. They’ve been cut in half in comparison to about 4 years ago. Cut in HALF! Yet, we are getting MORE production to try and sell us the game as if it’s good and deep a few months before release. That’s the extent of cutting their sales in half. This is the consequence of that. Would you say you’re satisfied with the result?

They simply don’t realize how to replicate the NFL experience or what we really need to make this a great game. They don’t understand that a very deep franchise overhaul with basically a copy of the presentation we see on TV, and really refined gameplay will sell the game more than any of their standard back of the box features. Maybe the Senior Producer or whoever should basically be a salesmen that can pitch the suits correctly and actually convince them on what the game needs. It might work out better than a gamer trying to sell ideas to a suit.

I’m venting, not trying to open a debate with anyone. Madden 20 isn’t good enough IMO and we really don’t need to play it to understand that. Is it better than 18 or 19 on paper? Seems to be. Unfortunately that is hitting a low standard.
