Re: The Hunter : Call of the Wild

Sorry to bump such an old topic, but I finally picked this game up on sale ($17.99 on PS Store this week). Really good and possibly underrated, amazing pace and scenery. I had a ton of fun just tracking the different animals, picking up their prints and calls. This has to be the best hunting game I've played, although I honestly can't remember any others that I even liked.

And if you haven't played this game for awhile, it looks as though there's now a ton of DLC available on the PS Store; maps, weapons, you name it.

I have this game. It is a lot of fun. A true “slow burn” hunting game that takes a lot of patience. But it is very rewarding.

I have nit played it in quite some time. But I will fire it up again someday no doubt.

If you really wanna burn some time, turn off all of the glowing stuff and use only your actual vision and phone to do any tracking. I shot a deer the other night and lost sight of it. An hour later my buddy and I are in the woods in higher elevation and 300+ yards away I spot what looks like a possible deer lying down. It's the dead body of the deer I shot before. That thing had bled out after a 2-3 mile trek through the map. I got a score of 2. Yes, a 2. Was totally worth it. Seriously, playing without any unnatural cues is very fun and rewarding.

I'd like to get there eventually, unfortunately I have to figure out how to become a competent video game hunter first, complete with glowing neon tracks.

It's tough since I know literally nada about hunting, but I am enjoying it.

Reminds me when I first played Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis/Elite. I removed all the bs helpers/markers, by playing on the highest difficulty level and dove right into the deep water, learning that way. Very different and much more rewarding and enjoyable experience.

I tried to do this in Arma a few times. Missions that would normally take 30 minutes were taking me 3 hours as I tried to read the maps and navigate lol. Rewarding it was. I have fun with those struggles, but it isn't for everyone.

You guys sold me on this. Downloaded it before work; excited to jump in tonight. I feel like I have literally every game I want and have been noticing lately they’re all pretty much the same game - RDR2, TW3, HZD, GRWL, Metro Exodus, AC:O, MGSV, FC5 - it’s ultimately all the same ****. This is kind similar too lmao but at least it’s a novel concept (never played a hunting game before).

I don’t actually care about any of this.
