NCAA 14 on new Xbox Scarlett?
Not sure if anyone has followed E3 but they are saying Xbox Scarlett is going to be backwards compatible for all previous Xbox generations going back to the original Xbox. Does this mean getting NCAA football back on a new console?Tags: None -
Re: NCAA 14 on new Xbox Scarlett?
I don’t think so. It’s not backwards compatible with the X1 so I doubt it.

Re: NCAA 14 on new Xbox Scarlett?
Anything is possible but licensing will probably prevent XboxScarlet from working with NCAA.
I believe PS3 emulation is the wave of the future atleast in the next 10 years when it becomes more affordable to own a highend enough PC with graphics (under $300). But currently for $400+ we can search hard to find a PC able to play these games about 80% well right now.
Atleast the 2020s are set with emulation if our old Consoles don't work any more & they never make another NCAA game again due to all the player payment issues.Comment

Re: NCAA 14 on new Xbox Scarlett?
EA isn't allowed to make the game backwards compatible for X1 because doing so would violate the terms of their settlement agreement with the O'Bannon plaintiffsNational Champions: 96', 06', 08'Comment

Re: NCAA 14 on new Xbox Scarlett?
I'm no law expert but don't understand how making the game BC would be against the settlement. People already bought the game and they are no longer selling it so how why would this not be allowed?
Also RPCS3 has NCAA Football 14 running at pretty much full speed if you got a decent PC. Check out their forums for how to get it running.Comment

Re: NCAA 14 on new Xbox Scarlett?
My understanding of how BC on the Xbox One works is that Microsoft is going to the people who own the rights for these games and essentially working out a licensing agreement for the game to work on Xbox One even though it was developed for the 360. And I believe a new licensing agreement would mean the players who's likenesses were used would need to be compensated.I'm no law expert but don't understand how making the game BC would be against the settlement. Plus, once games are listed as BC they go up for sale again on the store. In the case of NCAA that would mean any sales would technically have to compensate the players who's likeness is in the game.
At least that is my very basic understanding of how it works. I could be very wrong.

Thanks for the response, always good to hear another opinion. Maybe I'm in the minority but I feel that once the deal is done for that game way back in 2013, EA should be able to do what the hell they like with the game going forward. In my eyes QB#15 still did not have enough likeness to be Tim Tebow. Can you tell I am still salty about the decision...Comment

Re: NCAA 14 on new Xbox Scarlett?
Here's an interview from Phil Spencer a couple years ago where he talks about how games are made backwards compatible. He even says that for third party games they have to go to the publisher and essentially get the okay from them to make it BC.
So that means EA has to grant permission. Since the reason we aren't getting a new game now is because EA can't get permission from the NCAA or individual schools and/or conferences to use the the teams and conferences in a game, there's now way these are coming to BC in the future. A lot of the challenges in making a new game exist in making one BC. By the time one could be brought BC that would mean these hurdles had been overcome and a new game could be made. At least that's my interpretation.
