Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
I'm watching this video and saw the thread be posted at the same time first off perfect timing haha!
Far as my thoughts go, I'm really going to focus on the Scenario Engine because that's what I was hoping to hear more about and honestly what I heard.....still has me confused about the implementation of it. It sounds like just another version of the "Big Decisions" thing that's currently in the game. And that's not really what I wanted to hear. But guess I'll have to continue to wait until I'm able to see it for myself.

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
Franchise as a live service has potential of course, it's just a matter of how frequently and what kind of quality do we get in these updates.
I get the feeling that a lot of people are going to be disappointed with how rudimentary/binary the Scenario engine might be in year one(hopefully adding depth to it is part of the Franchise live service update), but I'm glad it's in. The writing for the Scenario's will be huge, because often, especially in sports games, IMO, they write at an elementary school level on purpose, and it lessens the experience.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
I'll be honest, this interview made me feel more discouraged regarding the scenario engine. He made it sound like it's more for coaching decisions prior to the game than something that would have any long term impact on a team. I want player hold outs, trade demands, 5th year options. I don't know why this stuff is so hard to have in an NFL game in 2019.Comment

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
I feel like we've been slightly misled about what this engine does. It hasn't been explained in any detail to us because the so-called Franchise "deep dive" blog wasn't very deep at all.

Selfishly, I'm glad that MUT and QB1 isn't in the beta, so that no one gets "distracted" by those modes. The feedback needs to be all about gameplay and Franchise.Jordan Mychal Lemos

I agree, I intend on giving the best feedback I can. I know parts of the game will be a little wonky like last years beta but hopefully there is enough feedback that they can get working on a patch to resolve any outstanding issues.Comment

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
Sounds like the scenario engine is just for single games within franchise. I'm really hoping they span the season or even multiple seasons. But right now it just sounds like a more fancier version of drive goals and game goals.

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
I've been worried about the scenario engine being more than a glorified system that makes goals more relative to the opponent's roster. Read this quote from the GameInformer article earlier in the year:
The offseason presents dynamic obstacles to overcome as well. “If you franchise tag a guy, there should be a risk that he'll just retire or demand a trade,” Young says. “You should feel that weight when you are making these choices instead of sorting a spreadsheet and going, 'eh, he's not that good.' There's got to be a risk/reward to this stuff to really make you feel the immersion of it.” If you’re the type of GM who doesn’t like surprises, this may affect how you approach drafting. Maybe you’ll pass on a temperamental player with more potential upside just for the peace of mind knowing that your pick won’t lead a revolt against your leadership.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
This pretty much confirms my fears for the scenario engine and I hope EA realise that they have misled people with the announcement of this feature. I saw a lot of people on Twitter say that this is their most anticipated feature, once their get into the game and see what it is they are going to be pissed.
The scenario engine (from my understanding) appears to be:
Scenario: You're facing Tom Brady this week, should we focus on sacking him of covering receivers?
Choice: Defensive lineman or secondary
One will get a buff, the other will have their morale drop (or as Mike Young said, "get bummed out") and not play as well.
Next week everyone is equal again.
Now I might be wrong but that is so shallow, if that choice led to a secondary player with a certain personality type get frustrated and potentially sit-out, demand a trade, complain or bring down total morale of the team then I'd be all for it.
It should branch and lead to consequences on and off the field. Coaches and player personalities should impact the results of the decisions and we should find a difficulty in dealing with certain scenarios.
Sadly it will be another year where I could have a 90 overall running back get 2 carries a game and just not care at all and happily re-sign next season.Comment

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
I skipped 19 and was pretty optimistic and looking forward to 20 with the original announcements including the scenario engine...
Seeing as how that all appears to have been a gross misrepresentation and fabrication of what it actually is (assuming the beta has the engine running more or less intact), its likely dishonest enough for me to pass again this year.
Pretty disappointing.Comment

Re: Madden 20 franchise interview
I'm with the rest of you right now that the scenario engine feels really dry right now. If it's a content-driven thing (which Tiburon says is in-fact the case), it almost feels like nearly all of the content which drives it is missing from the beta, because all I'm seeing are the same things you all are - responding to opponent X-Factor players and my own players' breakout scenarios.
Hopefully there's more coming to this to really sell this feature later.Comment
