Re: Madden 20 Gameplay by QJB
This is exactly what I was worried about with DL having X-Factor abilities while OL don't. Khalil Mack gets to go 1 on 1 the entire clip with no double team or adjustments from the CPU."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

What I tried to do with Khalil in the pro bowl was either run away from his side of the defense and focus on the run. The other thing is I've used slide protect on him.

Re: Madden 20 Gameplay by QJB
Exactly. I get that they we'll know how to knock players out of zone. But, I hope that this was on a lower difficulty because of easy it seems it might be to get in zone. The requirements in that video were a lot easier than I expected. If that is the case, I can see people getting in the zone a few times in the zone. It'll be easy to get 3 scrambles for 10 yards or 2 QB pressures. Especially since OL doesn't have a legit counter. I really don't want to see these X-Factor DL doing that all game against elite OL. Only things positive I seen is that it'll be easy to knock them out of zone and the DB abilities. If they can have the ability to slow down these high powered offenses, that will be reassuring.
I can see User vs. User there will have to be more strategy. You'll have to know your opponents strengths and avoid letting them get hot. I can see a lot of users leaving the RB to help block for example. But I really see users being able to take advantage of CPU. CPU isn't going to be aware enough to prevent users from getting into the zone. I hope that Traits will at least have CPU players acting like themselves to get into zone.
Sidenote: for as good Madden is graphically, the generic faces on players really is a let down. I get that some players aren't available for scans and we don't really see faces during live gameplay, but I really don't like see generic faces on well known players. I would rather see them a picture online and use that as a templateComment

Buluga is no scrub, but Mack gets in the zone and just rag dolls him, this is my biggest fear. The offensive line is going to be useless against DL with zone abilityComment

Re: Madden 20 Gameplay by QJB
That video demonstrates the issues with EA's way of creating a pocket. In real life the QB can not keep backing up and up and up. Their tackles would have zero chance of stopping the DE's from getting to the QB in that case. And then when he snaps the ball with Wilson and Newton and just immediately runs directly left to start a scramble, that wouldn't work that way in real life either. The DL would be all over that and the LT would be left on an island being able to do nearly nothing.
The pocket formation is too scripted for everyone to engage a certain way to create the shape of the pocket in an artificial method. I get that EA scripts nearly all of the defensive reactions and they are tied to every play to try and make it look believable, but they really need to think about overhauling the entire system and making it so the defenders have assignments on each play that have triggers that dictate their behaviors in a real manner that is true read and react.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Madden 20 Gameplay by QJB
This video alone has me on the verge of buying this game. Being an offline franchise guy, the amount of innovations in CFM we were so far told we're getting in M20 is not exactly overwhelming, but the superstar abilities and x-factors, with proper sliders and difficulty settings, might be game changing. I am obviously a Packers fan but the way Mack went through Bulaga and the subsequent tackle/sack animation of Rodgers was probably the most beautiful sack I have ever seen in a Madden game. And I liked all other abilities presented in the clip as well, along with the gameplay shown...Last edited by Executor; 06-14-2019, 05:22 PM.Montreal Canadiens

Re: Madden 20 Gameplay by QJB
I highly doubt there was much added in the way of CPU AI adjusting to counter in the zone players.
"Hey guys, check out this new in the zone feature! but you'll never really see it work because the CPU will adjust its gameplan to counter it..."
Lets' be real, this is a H2H/Comp feature that has leaked into offline play. Luckily it sounds like it can be turned off, because there is no way the game is going to try and frustrate casual gamers with sub-optimal outcomes on a new back-of-the-box feature.

Can a player get injured if they are "in the zone"?
Not a big fan of the zone stuff personally, but I get it.Comment

Re: Madden 20 Gameplay by QJB
Absolutely no place in a simulation football game. If NBA Jam were to be a football game, this super cringy x factors would be the first step to making the game. EA has a very sharky business and it shows here. Look at the atrocious joke of a halftime show in 19. That alone should tell you how limited their team was by their publisher. Limited highlights but worse of all was the camera angle when working. For example, 15 had a working halftime show but the angles were always zoomed in. Any programer worth merit could fix this within a day. Why can't EA? Their business model limits the team. Think of the whole I work just to get a pay check gig. They could fix it, but why if they can go home instead? When playing something like ESPN 2k5, the game shined good programing. Case in point: the challenge system in that game is beyond anything I have ever seen in a sports game. Heck, even their menus flowed like butter. Madden always feels laggy.
Shame on you EA for not giving your team freedom to make a good game. This arcade mess works with some but NOT for sim ballers. I always remind people how much money these companies actually make. 1 million sold = 60 game = 60 million! That is a lot of money not counting micro transactions. In other words, they have zero reason to change when Yacht rides must be had by higher ups at EA! Did I mention how dumb this "feature" is? Perhaps you could plan on adding the most missed feature for gameplay: D LINE SHIFTS! How no one on the Tiberon team being football/NFL fans does not stand up and question why D line shifts can't be added is beyond me. Does this bug any of you as much as me? I realllllly wanted to like 20 but this game honestly looks like donkey ....you know what.

You can d-line shift by pressing RB (Xbox) or R1 (PS4) and then either left or right on the d-pad or left stick.Absolutely no place in a simulation football game. Re: Madden 20 Gameplay by QJB
Yeah I know. I made a mistake obviously. Dline shifts/D-Line Stunts is what I meant. But thank you for teaching me a core game mechanic. Also moving d line left, right, spread or middle does not equal Line pinch, all in, fan out, line lefts/right and whatever else. But I digress. This is about gameplay provided by OBj. X factors and the cheese really shown through with his videos.
Presentation wise the game looks like a Madden 98 game. Why do they go backwards with this stuff is beyond me. I can't fathom the software designers are at fault here. Just turning to a Fox or CBS NFL game and copying it would be better than any of the horrible presentation they have now. So I could not imagine it was about lack of creativity. NCAA 12 had one of the best presentations in the market EVER. So Tibs is cabable if given the freedom. How else could we explain what's happening? Greed, greed, and greed. Madden 19 was playable only because of mods. Madden 16 was the best Madden I have personally ever played. Organic tackling I miss so much. Plus pres was half solid. I could tell that year was someones love child and it shows. CPU ai was so nice in that game as well. ZERO blitz the CPU and see what I mean. They check out and regroup the Oline to adapt. Great game.

Edit: I play on pc on a Wii controller using xpadder to emulate controls. Your advice for RB (Xbox) or R1 (PS4) makes no sense to me. I am lost with this advice. Please advise another smart advice for me to follow with my controls.Last edited by xxicefirex; 06-15-2019, 01:07 PM.Comment
