Re: Madden 20 Gameplay New Details! Custom Animations, Online Replays
Subbing a DB at LB will cause the DBs jumping to be calculated in accordance to the LB calculations - so DBs will not get a jumping advantage.
new/updated logic will result in DBs in LB positions to be less effective vs the run.
Players with x-factor abilities being used out of position may result in their x-factor ability not triggering.
* Suction tackling - focused more on skills. Tackle matches adjusted - the foot tackle from behind is a lot harder to do this year. The player is going to require a significant speed rating higher than the ball carrier to catch them from behind by the show strings.
Spamming the "strip ball" button will increase chances of whiffing on the tackle and thus end up out of the play.
Spamming the consrvative tackle buttoon will not create a tackle match.
*** What is being stated here on "matching" tackles is the process of the AI identifying a proper action has been adjusted so spamming the button at a distance will be less likely to be identified as a tackle to start the tackle animation. The user will be required to be closer to the ball carrier to cause a match to tackle.
^^^ This has created more risk and greater skill gap to tackling. (i noticed this in beta; happy to hear this hasn't changed)
Spin move has been toned down- no more spanning the spin move. All ball carrier moves have been toned down. (this also seems to suggest the beta settings in these areas are relatively the same)
Spin moves are less dramatic. also missed tackles on spin moves are less dramatic.
Spin move and being hit mid-move can result in fumble.
working on expanding individual locomotion running styles. Custom animations "moves" in the future, not necessarily signature. But a means for some players to have moves which make them look and feel different.
The star players are a focus to make the players and the teams they play on a different experience. EA wants to make sure the user has to consider key players on any given team and game plan accordingly.
In-game sounds have been improved, amplified, focused upon in an attempt to improve the atmosphere.
Replays are more focused on what happened on a play as opposed to the random replay that did not capture the important action. -

This is great news and here's an MVP trophy for actually typing it out (videos are for the elderly and people with adhd... or perhaps without?):Subbing a DB at LB will cause the DBs jumping to be calculated in accordance to the LB calculations - so DBs will not get a jumping advantage.

Two things:
- "Suction tackling - focused more on skills. Tackle matches adjusted - the foot tackle from behind is a lot harder to do this year. The player is going to require a significant speed rating higher than the ball carrier to catch them from behind by the show strings." ... This is excellent. This was a huge issue at launch last year and suction tackles have been an issue for awhile, especially that foot tackle from behind.
- "Spin move and being hit mid-move can result in fumble." ... Noticed this a few times in the beta. Felt great. Looked great.

Hopefully they done fixed the suction blocking on OLB's and DE's expecially when QB's rollout or drop way behind the LOS. This was one of the reasons people had all day to throw a lot of times.Comment

The replays online were actually really nice to see in the beta. Very nice touch.

I wish they didnt have to change jumping calculations and player logic to make DBs less effective at playing linebacker. In an ideal world, impactful player ratings would make this a non issue by having the DBs get man handled when they try to play linebacker and get bullied by lineman and tight ends. It sounds like they are putting a bandaid on the issue instead of fixing the cause.

Agreed. I'm glad they're at least doing something because it was crazy last year. It made 0 sense to use a linebacker because safeties could hold up in the run and they were infinitely better in the passing game.Comment

SOME of the gameplay changes have me interested. The lack of real Franchise enhancements really put me of, but honestly, facial player customization along with some positive gameplay changes MAY make me get the game before the Super Bowl this year since it’s on PC. So I’d love to know if facial customization is as decent as it looks this time around.

Re: Madden 20 Gameplay New Details! Custom Animations, Online Replays
This is exactly why I've always disliked their mindset there. They are overly concerned with outcome instead of HOW the outcome came to be. That's exactly what makes Madden so frustrating. The outcomes are forced artificially and don't make sense in the context of what is happening on the field. I can certainly appreciate them doing SOMETHING, but in the end, this just deviates from making the game as organic as possible.I wish they didnt have to change jumping calculations and player logic to make DBs less effective at playing linebacker. If I put a 180 lb WR at TE, there shouldn't be any need to make him bad. he should get knocked on his *** every play, or get steam rolled when he attempts to block a stud DE. What's the point of attributes if that doesn't work? Safeties in the linebacker spot should get pancaked consistently.Comment

Agreed. For the last 20 years, I have hypothesized that rather than build out the basics and let things play out, EA starts thinking from how they want a play to end, and then work backwards to make that happen. And if things don't work right, it is band-aids upon band-aids.Comment

Re: Madden 20 Gameplay New Details! Custom Animations, Online Replays
This has been going on for so long. Way back in the Madden 92-93 Genesis era they would hamstring good players on bad teams to manipulate an outcome. For example I played as the Browns in an era where they weren't that good but they used to have a fast, scatback name Eric Metcalf who was fast and elusive but when hit he would not be able to break tackles. Despite him being a stellar scat-back the Browns were still a below average team. So on Madden Metcalf would be very low rated and very slow....despite him actually very fast in real life. I was convinced back then (and now to some point) that players and player mechanics are manipulated to achieve a predetermined outcome, in the case, make sure a bad team is bad....even if it means rating players lower to achieve this.Agreed. For the last 20 years, I have hypothesized that rather than build out the basics and let things play out, EA starts thinking from how they want a play to end, and then work backwards to make that happen. And if things don't work right, it is band-aids upon band-aids.
Having said all that I am still looking forward to 20 on the PC!!!!Comment
