    Why Isn't Sweatgate Here?

We've seen several screenshots from previous years, where 2K has attempted to make graphics look better, simply by showing a picture of a player with no sweat, and then adding a picture of that player with sweat the following year.

For example, to advertise for 2K19, Lebron James in 2K18 was shown with no sweat, and sweat was added in the 2K19 picture to make it look better.

In 2K20, we see the same exact trend. Now we are shown a picture of Lebron James in 2K19 with no sweat, and now we see him drenched in sweat in 2K20.

This seems like pretty deceptive marketing. I don't see anything on the forums about it. I'm not trying to cause a super scandal or anything, but I think they need to know this isn't okay.

Am I completely off base or not? And if anyone has the screenshots from previous games, feel free to share.

I just posted about this in another thread. Crap really isn’t cool at all and everyone has caught on to it at this point.

      Re: Why Isn't Sweatgate Here?

2K doesn't post the comparisons, they just post the screenshot.

Of course they are going to post pictures from the preferable angle/ lighting...that's just common sense. There really isnt a conspiracy to unlock here..I find it a bit humorous that this is the 'thing' this year.

I could see if the pictures they posted werent obtainable in the game...THAT would be deceptive...but they are.

You can go in 2K19's replay mode right now and get this:

2K will post all these high def screenshots with players sweating and all but then players look like David Aldridge when he looked cracked out for the past 4 years

I replied to the screenshot thread saying this exact thing.

Its one super ashy pic vs baby oil and perfect lighting and great angle, of course one will look way better.
            ... But hey VC sale!!

It isn't any more deceptive than most marketing techniques. It's just the nature of the beast with multi-million selling franchises. They're going to show the players in the best possible light. They're still using shots from in-game so it's not like they're bullshots. Why would they want to make them look worse intentionally? Also, as someone said before I don't recall 2K themselves ever publishing their own comparison shots. That's usually done by gaming media or the community.

Players do not sweat on 12 minute quarters like they do on default settings for quarter minutes.

I'm inclined to agree with the below comment. Isn't this just basic advertising? You're always going to show off what you think is the best that can be achieved in game. Deceptive advertising to me is more like FIFA advertising an improved algorithm to pick the starting 11 then having a faulty algorithm that is actually light years worse than the previous year. From what I understand 2K is selling what you're getting.

They do....only around the second half of the game.

Not sure why not, since it can be modded to be fixed somewhat on PC.

I've been playing 12 minute quarters for some time now and it was bugging me a bit, but I wasn't sure if I'm not being paranoid (I guess I was too lazy to go back to 6 minute quarters to confirm my suspicions ). It's not as bad as 2K16, where at launch players didn't sweat almost at all in 12 minute games, but still it'd be nice if they could fix this.

Ur suspicious are correct, I went back to 6 minutes and they drenched in sweat then back to 12 minutes and it’s light.
