Madden 20 - Why Refs Were Removed, Equipment News (via SportsGamerOnline)

Some good stuff in here. Don't have time to type out highlights, but it's great to see what is in the works and hear about what they're planning. Good interview.

They intended to include tattoos, but the create-a-face and other stuff got I'm the way.

^^^That hurts because the create-a-face is only for 1 mode and is practically useless for 99% of the game's roster, whereas tattoos would've been useful for 50% of the game's roster.

Adjustable striped socks may be added into Madden 20 at a later date. This is very good news, and I 100% believe that it will be added eventually. Especially of the Chiefs remain a top team in the NFL.

The dev in the video said he asked around if they could move the towel and hand warmers around, but was told that it is a very low priority. He [thinks] that it would relatively easy, but yeah. I'm feel like he's upset that something so simple is seen as low priority. My words, not his.

Dev says he's trying to get neckpads/neck rolls and other equipment/accessories added into MADDEN 20 post launch.

Bad sidelines are a result of memory limits.

Referees were removed due to resource management and physics issues (you could go through them). Says when they are added back, they will be much improved.

Mouthpieces have a good chance of being added to Madden 20.

^^^I'm pretty sure this is gonna happen along with the striped socks fix.

Overall, good insight. Glad he took the time to answer the questions.

I don't know... I got a bunch of maybe's and hopefully out of that.

I was expecting something real... that was not it.

And the talk about editing faces, hair and stuff... about the NFL and whatever, makes no sense.
They already put wonky looking heads and stuff on players with their bad premade generic heads that have not been updated in Years !

Kudos to you for summarizing it in words. Videos suck and are for the elderly. No offense old people.

I called the ref thing by the way. Everyone give me kudos and props pls.

*Also called the striped socks and took a ton of heat for saying it WASN'T the NFL stopping them from putting it in. Waiting for crow to be eaten on that that I will never get to see.

Mouthpieces would be huge imo, but that would mean they updated their tech for the new systems. I can see this as a possibility, since it would now make sense.

Yeah, I remember Dustin sending a tweet out a month or so ago saying he couldn’t wait to show us something. I really think that was the mouthpieces. It’s not something that I have to have, but it would add a slice of realism, so I’m hopeful they’ll add this. But, I know the OS community has wanted this for awhile. That’ll be an interesting patch if they add it in, later. I wonder if that’ll break the x-factor abilities somehow. Lol. [emoji6][emoji41]

What's the probability of opening up an edit option for coaches?

I really think if we were able to edit them in Franchise, it would open up the realm of keeping that pool fresh and keep some immersion. It's not Coach Carousel but would be a cool tool to have. Names, appearance, and change playbooks/schemes. I'd reckon it would be the same menu as when you create a coach for CFM.

While realistically I cant see it this year, I think a major portion of the Madden Commune would relish in it.

The striped socks are already implemented in m20. If you go to roster management and pick a team with striped socks. U can see when you pick high socks how it moves . You also can see a white overlay on the white portion of the sock that moves when selecting high, low , standard and tucked socks. Unfortunately, as of now it does not translate over into the game........yet

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

All the old people I know watch the news, while all the young people I know read it online or on social media.

Now watching YouTube for entertainment, yeah my experience is that younger people are way more into that, including reaction videos. But to get information? My experience is that younger people tend to choose the faster option (Twitter, etc).

I haven't seen data, but either way you're right this is way off topic.

What could possibly be taking so much memory they couldnt add refs or proper sidelines? Fotf cutscenes? All thise exclusive songs on the soundtrack? They really prioritize marketing gimmicks over a genuine experience

                            That's not how memory works.

Have you ever played Skyrim on PC, but used an ENB and a bunch of HD re-textures, and then on top of all that, added mods where more peasants walk around and more soldiers guard the country-side?

Did you ever notice that without a powerful rig, this will cause your frames per second to drop?

The more stuff that is on the screen, the more stuff that needs to be loaded. The more stuff that needs to be ready to be loaded. The more work the hardware eventually has to do. Consoles, computers in general, have limited random access memory. RAM is what allows things to be cached and ready to be loaded quickly when they're needed. But the more things you need to be loaded quickly, the more RAM is used.

There are other factors as well, but if there isn't enough RAM to hold all the resources needed, the game can't run at the full speed the hardware otherwise allows.

Of course, that might not be the problem. All that was said is that there was a "resource" problem. Do they mean hardware? Manpower? Something else?
