Yeah the Cowboys were not very good. It was also Landry's last season.
I have always liked the 88 season due to how much change was about to come. The Cowboys were falling apart, but soon to be rebuilt. My Browns had a solid team that was decimated by injuries. Schottenheimer did some great coaching, maybe the best of his career. Dealing with all of the injuries and still making the playoffs. However, Modell did not seem to understand that and fired him and hired Bud Carson.
The Steelers were hitting bottom, the Oilers were gaining traction, and the Bengals had a great season and almost beat the 49ers.
The Bills be just starting to show promise while the Dolphins struggled.
In the NFC, the Eagles under Buddy Ryan were a force. The Bears were still a strong team but just could not get enough from their offense. The NFC West had 3 10-6 teams.
Lots of good storylines in 1988.
