What difficulty?
I am sick and tired of sliders for sporting games so basically since 2k17 I have decided to simply play games out the box. Curious to know how you guys feel about out the box settings this year? Currently on default All-Pro and I am seeing mixed results. In my Panthers chise one game I put up about 78 points and I thought "Oh My God, All Pro is too easy", but then the next game I won in OT. Idk about you guys, but I like that kind of randomness not knowing what I will get from game to game instead of making sliders to make the game more challenging... almost an Any Given Sunday feel. Are guys going default this year?Tags: None -
Re: What difficulty?
All-pro is definitely more difficult than last year but still not challenging enough. Skill wise I've always been in a weird area where all-pro is to easy and I would win every game with any team, but all-madden is just a little to difficult where even with a dominant team I'll win a few games but probably end up with a losing record every season. Then I started playing in an online league, and competitively again more often, now as my skills get sharper again from this all-madden is the right skill level for me. The only problem is you still have games where robo QB runs rampant on all madden so I'm going to have to start looking at slider sets and tweaking them.I am sick and tired of sliders for sporting games so basically since 2k17 I have decided to simply play games out the box. That’s my issue. But my thing is with All Madden I don’t want to feel cheated simply for the CPU to compete

Re: What difficulty?
I'm struggling with the same thing. I'm on default all-pro, while most games seem easy, I will run into a few where the cpu just totally shuts me down. However, I switch to all-madden and no one can tackle for crap. Stuck.Comment

Re: What difficulty?
Default All-Madden is probably at the best spot it's been at in a really long time. It just feels really well balanced and much less "cheaty" than last year. There's still some wonkiness with really poor AI and things like hit sticks and QB accuracy are still issues in my opinion but at this point last year I was extremely frustrated with how the game was playing on All-Madden but it feels really good.Comment

I’ll try an exhibition tonight

Re: What difficulty?
Maybe others will feel differently.
Personally... I don't even know what the sliders do anymore. To help offset the terrible pass coverage, I dropped AI passing and AI catching to like 35 on All Madden and I swear I am not even seeing anything.
On all pro, I dropped AI run blocking to 30 and I'd swear that the AI ran the ball less. I wanted to test it out but it was getting late. But honestly, I don't even know whats going on with this game any more lolComment

Re: What difficulty?
This appears to be the goal of almost every slider guru I've seen on these forums over the last ~9 years... To tweak out a difficulty setting that falls somewhere between All-Pro and All-Madden.All-pro is definitely more difficult than last year but still not challenging enough. Skill wise I've always been in a weird area where all-pro is to easy and I would win every game with any team, but all-madden is just a little to difficult where even with a dominant team I'll win a few games but probably end up with a losing record every season. With M19 I didn't really do to much deep diving with the sliders as I had in years past. I started a CFM at All-Pro, made a few minor tweaks after the preseason and then just rode that for all 40-50 games I played before I retired the game for the year. During the rebuild, I had a decent challenge using a crappy team... playing .500 with a lower/mid-tier roster. The problem is that the difficulty doesn't always scale that great. By the 3rd season my team had a significantly improved roster even good teams couldn't offer a challenge at All-Pro... always a balancing act.
But generally speaking, I like All-Pro as a base and then slider tweaks or using a slider set from these forums to get some additional challenge. I might give All-Madden another chance this year as well... but in the past I just couldn't get past the obvious warping / rubber banding / vacuum tackles / constant insta-sheds / etc that seemed to dominate most All-Madden games... where it was clear that the CPU was just fudging things and not really 'playing' any better.Comment

Re: What difficulty?
I just did a test for myself. I played each preseason game on each difficulty...
Beat Giants 73-0 on Rookie
Beat Falcons 66-7 on Pro
Lost to Saints 36-30(OT) on All Pro
Lost to Eagles 45-28 on All Madden
I should have beaten Saints 30-27 but i roughed the kicker and they tied it on the retry.
The All Madden game against Eagles I still saw cheating tactics by cpu. Clayton Thorson(Who?) completed 80% against me. But it wasn’t just that that made me head scratch. He made accurate throws on sideline over double coverage like he was Brady or Brees. Plus on All Pro I see occasional errant throws which I saw none on All Madden. On All Pro cpu QBs complete anywhere from 50-70% on me. That said All Madden wasn’t as bad as it was years ago.
So I started over and will be using All Pro.Comment

Re: What difficulty?
I’ve settled on All Madden. I feel it’s more rating based and less cheat than it’s ever been. Scale CPU accuracy way down and CPU catching a tad. I’m basically using Charters sliders at this point.
The one thing I’m investigating more is my starting running backs production vs the backup. I was trying to get my rookie some work and couldn’t do anything with him off the bench. Then I tried switching my starter to the backup and backup to starter. It feels like depending who you start, they get a boost. Now I can’t run with my primary back when he comes off the bench. Anyone else notice this?Comment

All Pro is too easy for me personally, I had a CFM with my 2 friends and through 4 weeks I was averaging 58 ppg and giving up only 10 ppg - it just wasn't enjoyable.
They don't play on All Madden anymore though - we tried for a week - Kirk Cousins went 42/42 590 yards 7 TD's against my friend's user Eagles defense lol and he absolutely lost his mind.
The problem is: (with default settings)
All Pro is not consistently challenging enough
All Madden is too blatantly rigged at times - there is essentially nothing you can possibly do to stop the All Madden CPU - it's been that way for years IMO. Some games are fine, some are absolutely ridiculous.
I've been looking into custom sliders on the All Pro setting, as I think the overall game play for All Pro seems more realistic/enjoyable for me in this year's Madden. I played strictly All Madden last year and just dealt with the overpowered QB's / Offenses but this year seems stronger (probably due to broken pass coverage)
If anyone would like to recommend somebody's custom sliders I'm certainly interested.Comment

Re: What difficulty?
I'm almost certain that I play differently than everyone else, but in my CFM I play All-Madden when I'm on offense, then switch it to pro when I'm on defense. I don't play when I'm on defense, either, so I call the plays then let it play out on its own using the broadcast camera. I get realistic stats from both sides this way and every game has felt different, but challenging. On the higher difficulties on defense I completely get shredded regardless of who the opposing QB is, so it's been working out for me. I still give up between 200-400 passing yards per game, but only the more elite QBs push it to the higher end.Comment

Re: What difficulty?
All-Madden has been great for at least the past few years. Felt really balanced and ratings based, outside of the occasional wonkiness throwing over the middle, there wasn't nothing that consistently stood out. No robo-qb, man coverage was viable.
Terrible this year, but press coverage is bad, zones are out of tune and robo-qb has made it's triumphant return. I think things might round out a bit once coverage is fixed, but this definitely feels like a step back overall."A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."Comment
