Back at it for another year of slideritus following my usual scale (found below in the spoilers), then changing to a mix between sim and competitive, and then using a new method of switching the sim sliders drastically in the opposite direction like I did on May 15th of this past year.
My goal is to have a a few sets of sliders that offer some differences but also keep default game play in mind to keep the game "fun". Aiming for some simulated stats, but fun and realistic scores are where I want to be. Getting those results without playing 12-20 min period games either.
I'm super pumped to get an Alumni Franchise going with a minor league full of NHL rosters.

I'm starting with what I ended the year with in 18. Then adjust from there, but I feel like I won't be changing a ton.
These are not the end all be all but they give me fantastic games. I'm settled in with that EA is giving us an arcade game with sim elements and I play and treat the game as such. Just trying to have some fun games with proper stats where possible.

Back at it again with NHL 18 Sliders and my keep it simple scale in hopes of not getting slideritus.
The scale (0/12/25/37/50/62/75/87/100)
I play home games on All-Star and road games on Superstar. For me this keeps Franchise mode games more exciting with home ice advantage and having to be on your toes when playing on the road.
I had some solid results last year with NHL 17 for the most part late in the year once I figured out there was a save glitch after making changes to an initial pre-set save. See below for the issue and from what I saw so far, it's still an issue with NHL 18.
After you create and save an initial pre-set (mine Fiddy14) any changes after that don't stick unless you cycle through the pre-sets and go back to it (mine Fiddy14). Example, I set my pre-set and sliders and then save it. Play a few games and want to make a change. I make said change, save it, back out, and go back in. The slider is back to what it was prior to the save. To make sure the changes stick you have to save it as you would normally, then cycle through all the pre-sets until you get back to yours and the changes you made will be there. Odd glitch, but that's the small work around.

Remember, the CPU Strategy Adjustment slider makes the CPU harder to play against the higher it is. Coupled with the AI Learning slider you can adjust these up or down a bit to your liking and not worry about adjusting other sliders. You can also just match the CPU with the USER Strategy slider to keep things even.
