Difficulty Advice
I played competitively on Superstar last year, but am really struggling on that difficulty this year. 0-8 in games played, and I play with a solid team (Celtics).

I have no problem dropping a level, tho. Its just a game and I don't play games to be frustrated. Life gives me enough of that already. I would go ahed and go don a level until it feels too easy.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaire -
Re: Difficulty Advice
Have this problem every year. All-star is too easy and superstar makes me scratch my head. Blow out the CPU by 20.
I always use either Kings or jazz. I can't hit anything on a consistent basis with any good shooters.
Game scoring is competitive but not with the offense I'm working on for open/good looks.Comment

I needed to see this. [emoji23][emoji23]. I get so freakin frustrated at these games. I need to calm down and realize it’s just a game. It’s all good.[emoji846]

Re: Difficulty Advice
I started off on All-Star, it was tough but I just recently upped the difficulty after I won a couple games convincingly.
Superstar is not friendly, I'm having a hard time hitting any of my jumpshots. Probably need to get into the shooting gym, and will most likely making shooting sliders stay at 50. Default Superstar sliders knock it down to 48 for the user and 52 for the CPU. I'll probably try a game with USER/CPU shooting sliders at 50.Comment

Did you practice?

Re: Difficulty Advice
Shooting is horrid past allstar.. and then you have to go back on defense and watch the cpu hit contested greens
It also doesn't help that tatum probably has the worst release in the game.. i actually shoot better with romeo LangfordComment

Re: Difficulty Advice
For me its the opposite, i played 2k18 on HoF, and all of 2k19 on All-Star. I played one game on All-Star on 2k20 and i had to change it to HoF, i was blowing out the cpu on All-StarComment

Re: Difficulty Advice
My advice to everyone offline is this: don't get caught up on the difficulty names and let your ego get played. Every year the updates to AI and difficulty related to gameplay is different.
You're gonna laugh at me, but my advice is start with rookie, then progress upward through Pro and All Star, etc., until you find a level that is more or less right for the way you play.
Then, see what you like and don't like, and make any slider tweaks you like to make the game most fun for you.
You're paying for entertainment, so find a way to use your new software toy to have fun. Everyone plays differently and has different skills. It's your game, so customize it for you.Comment

Re: Difficulty Advice
If you're playing offline go ahead and drop a level. All that matters is if the game is fun. If I keep getting blown out on Superstar, I drop to Allstar and get competitive games. I usually end up doing this in MyLeague since I use the Knicks and in the beginning that team is trash.Comment

Re: Difficulty Advice
The difficulty setting in 2K always confuses me. I like to change sliders a lot and the setting just says 'custom'. Is difficulty just a reflection of the sliders or does the AI play differently on different difficulties? If so, how do I ensure I get the HOF AI difficulty if it just says custom?
Do I just set it to HOF and then adjust sliders from there?Comment

However, at first I struggled on All-Star. I felt Pro was too soft. Plus, I heard that All-Star was supposed to be the most realistic. I really don't like playing with sliders. Regardless, I do agree that you should play it on whatever level is fun, and as you get better move it up. Just have fun.
In my case, I started practicing plays, looked at YouTube videos and actually just realized I can't just run up and down the court. I also realized I needed to play good basketball - work for open shots, pay attention, exploit mismatches, use a pick and roll, etc. Now, I am doing much better and I am even starting to win. I don't mind losing just as long as I feel I haven't been cheated.
This gameplay is awesome though, and the game is very, very fun. When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.Comment

Czar touched on this towards the end of the 2K19 year — set it on the level you want to play on first. From there, adjust the sliders you like to tune and it’ll still be on whatever level you originally put it on.Comment
