The Face Up Game Is Back

I think all of us can agree that the face up game has been hit or miss in the last couple of 2K's, but I am loving what you can do with it this year.

You can really use your creativity to throw off the computer (who now has realistic responses) or human opponents.

Here's a couple of clips of me working with DeRozan in a PNO match. He let the CPU defend me in all these instances but the jumpshot foul- which is also cool to see.

Anyone else digging the face up game?

Your face up game ready huh? [emoji1531][emoji1531][emoji1531]

Yeah this is easily the most jump-shot fouls that i've seen in a total cycle--and its only been a week. They're not as consistent as they could be but if you get hit they may call it. I'm really trippin' you REAL LIFE played the Knicks tho. Kudos to that guy...he's the real MVP [emoji23]

Agreed 100%. I'm loving the chess match you can play with the CPU as for the first time that I can remember, the AI is reacting to movement rather than input.

It’s great. 2K18 went too far one way with the blow by animations and most recent iterations have been too far the other with brick wall defense. Being able to break down your defender without triggering an ankle breaker animation is so satisfying.

The one-on-one game is A1 this year. It’s beautiful that it’s not just - this move makes the defender do that move scenario.

Each fake, movement, cross, hesi, etc. leads to so many different outcomes and reactions. It’s refreshing.

All I need to worry about is breaking down Trae Young and Kevin Huerter thankfully lol.

I wish I had someone shifty like that. Tobias is great in mid-range but he isn't saucy like that lol.

It's not as exciting as that breakdown, but here's Embiid blowing this guys door off in the post:

All I ever wanted from face up was the ability to pull on someone straight up and it have a 30% chance of going in. Haha. The Jab step pull was my go to esp when they gave you ability to kinda bump people back. Some dudes are dribble gods n know all the moves. I'm more a move counter move guy. It does look good. Game looks faster, that one cross was viciously fast (the foul one.)

Pump fake foul would be super love w that game play.

The face up game is one of my favorite things about 2K20. It feels so life-like and natural. I love catching it in the post and turning around to survey my defender, hit em with a couple subtle directional jabs and then explode past him once I have him leaning. It feels really rewarding. You couldn't really take guys off the dribble while facing up with Anthony Davis in the past, but you can this year.

love how you can double tap square from triple threat face up for a spin layup or double tap square + RT for spin jumper

I’m going to home to work on this with Durant. I’ve never really relied on the face up game but that OP vid is nice.
