    Offensive Rebounding

2k20 looks to be on 2k11 at its core. However, the offensive rebounding of the bigs is ridiculous. Every center should not get 3 to 5 o boards every game. They jump to high and far sideways. Additionally, they "worm" around to many boxouts. Every game should not have 12 to 20 o boards. This goes for the cpu and myself.

Anyone not having a problem with o boards?

    Re: Offensive Rebounding

This is one of the reasons I used the Hustle Rebound badge only on guards and perimeter players in 2k19. Now we eliminated the boxout rating, replaced it with the Box badge but also added the Worm badge and made Hustle Rebounder Rebound Chaser. So I'm assuming I'm gonna have to take similar actions this year as well to help as with 2k every year, height is too OD.

        Re: Offensive Rebounding

The game has a glitch where the Team Stats menu is adding offensive rebounds. If you add up the total of offensive rebounds at the end of a game through the individual player box scores you will see what I mean.

I tweeted Mike Wang about this.

I too thought that I was getting too many offensive rebounds until I found out that team stats/ team comparison menu is adding offensive rebounds once you look at the menu at the end of a game.

To me the stats even out.

That’s why it doesn’t bother me.

I am a huge stat guy and like what I say because end of game numbers matter for me

Exactly what I did in 2K19. I’d bet it’s a roster issue in 2K20 (like many other issues).

It's pretty much a legacy issue in 2k. Guys get rebounds cause they're a tall center no matter their ratings, but if theyre rated well then they can grab 20 easy in a 12 min Q game.
Some guys ripped me when they saw it like omg how can Drummond not have hustle rebounder he's useless! Well no, actually he'll still get his 15 boards, but it's a great way to get guards and perimeter players to go after more boards in gameplay.
You don't really want to handicap the ratings if you're concerned about sim stats.

In regards to the bug where actual offensive rebounds not adding up correctly in the team stats, that's been a bug for a few years now. Your offensive rebounds in the box score for each player will not add up to the same total in the Team Comparison page.

Yes off boards is a bit much, also the fact that the game speed has been accelerated doesn't help either. Because feeling the weight of players and having at least 0.2 seconds more with slower DAY1 version of the game was better with box out etc., not the best but better than what it is now. It was an issue before patch too ofcourse.

I think some of the issue is with a few too many offensive boards, is shot blocking is much better done this yr than in yrs past, and it seems every time a blocked shot happens, the offense gets the ball back either on rebound or out of bounds, which the game also counts as a team rebound. This is also leading to a few too many total shots per game as well, along with not enough fouls being called too.

IMO this is where the problem is, and not so much a problem with over aggressiveness on the offensive boards by players, although offensive rebounds is probably a tad overpowered, but I fear, if they tweak this, the devs will screw it up, and then there wont be enough offensive rebounds per game, as they have a tendency of over tweaking things, and they end up breaking it altogether.

                      Good thread man....

Yes, I'd agree there are too many offensive rebounds. Oddly enough though its for me, rather than the CPU abusing the boards. If I click on my CPU and box out it mitigates the CPU getting too many offensive rebounds.

I run a lot of PNR so I'm wondering if the switching defenses this year are causing such an influx? I wanted to gather more of a sample size before I commented, but so far I feel like my O-rebounding is keeping me in games.

Wow I was expecting this thread to be about the opposite when I opened it. I'm barely getting any offensive rebounds.

This is true, wish they'd remove those "Team" rebounds from the final tally.. Every year I start off screenshotting all my box scores to see what I need to change via sliders, in order to get the type of experience I want, and after adding up all the offensive rebounds I'm only grabbing 4.7 offensive rebounds a game in a (Sample size: Five 48 minute games). That's half of what it should be.

I use the 2020 Celtics, and I use the "Limit Transition" coach adjustment. But even with that adjustment it should still be closer to 10 a game. Especially with Kanter in the lineup. The worst offensive rebounding teams in the league still averaged 9 a game last year.

Apparently no one else is having this issue so this is something that I'm gonna fix for myself by increasing the User Offensive rebounding slider.

Side note: My CPU opponents have been averaging 15 offensive rebounds a game, they are all classic teams so it makes sense that they still prioritized crashing the offensive glass.

Its to many for the cpu and user. Play the Rockets. Capela will "worm" around the box out 80 percent of the time. That is not realistic. Every big i play against will grab 10 to 15 boards. 3 to 5 o boards.

I actually wanted to play with them after the patch downloaded man. But okay, I’ll bite and play against after this patch downloads. I’ll check the stats and report back.
