    Perimeter Defense Rating (NBA 2K20)

Previously known as On-Ball Defense rating, this rating affects how good a player is at Isolation (faceup) defense.

    Position Averages
    PG: 77
    SG: 74
    SF: 77
    PF: 67
    C: 51

An average PG/SG/SF starter has roughly a 75 rating. Assuming starters are quality players (i.e. above average), this means the average PG is roughly a 70 rating.

85 NBA Point Guards (2K default ratings) - What players stand out as over/underrated?

Re: Perimeter Defense Rating (NBA 2K20)

Muggsy feels a little under-rated for me. He's noted more for his hustle and quick hands, but he wasn't a horrible defender on the perimeter. He may have been small, but he was tough to get by.

As for current players, I can't help but feel Lebron and Curry to be a little overrated, Fox to be a little underrated. Not much on any of those, mind you, but I think of each of them as the next tier or so down or up, depending.

OMG, I loved Magic growing up and wore 32 because of him but him having a 98 on ball defensive rating is ludicrous and one of the biggest eyesores in the game.

One thing I can add is shot contest strength on jumpers is also tied to the Perimeter D rating.

Thats interesting. Bledsoe is rated as 93 by Rashidi. When Bledsoe contest Kemba and Durant's jumper, will there be a difference?

For the record, posted ratings are the 2K defaults.

Using this as an exercise to see if my personal scale needs adjusting.

Currently recording all the Isolation Synergy data from the last four years. Samples are getting lower every year. PGs for example don't really Isolate, its mostly PNR.

Bledsoe's 4-year score is 0.77 PPP if I remember correctly. I think he was around 0.92 last year, but in only 36 possessions (0.63 the prior season is more reflective of his ability).

50th Percentile last season I think was 0.88 PPP.
0.77 PPP in a large sample would certainly merit 90ish rating

0.77 PPP in a large sample would certainly merit 90ish rating

                      My bad. Tks for clarifying.
Looking at past 4 yrs records is a lot of work. I kept it to regular season stats only, and dig further if there are missing players eg Kristap. I was working on the 3 pt shot ratings last year as they were pretty off as well as isolation tendencies.

I have a hard time with player speed. You have any stats? The nba stats on distance per mile coverage doesnt seem to represent player speed well. I wanted to differentiate the bigs from the small.

                        ISOLATION DEFENSE (2016-2019)

                        100+ Possessions (Bold = 200+ Possessions)

                        Spoiler

Define isolation defense. What does it mean by 0.77 for bledsoe vs 1.07 (Jamal Murray)?

If your opponent scores every time he facing you, your PPP is 2 (more considering 3 point play) That means lower is the number, the player you defende score less.

Regarding speed I’m currently using this formula on my roster based on the 3/4 court sprint time at the combine:

                            [1-(Time - 2.97)]*100

Then I’ll make ±3 based on the player
