Great article exposing the issues in Myleague. It was tough but fair. I was especially elated that OS, which is primarily offline centric, dedicated a lions share of the article real estate to MLO. The MLO disconnects during timeouts have largely been addressed through updates and hot fixes and perhaps even in the patches thought the notes are sparse. The only disconnects occuring now are when users try to play consecutive games without doing a hard reset to clear to their cache, the game will disconnect on tip off. But if both owners do hard resets, it is smooth and stable. I continue to hold out hope that the contract extensions, team options, and offseason crashes after the 3rd offseason are addressed by 2k. Thanks for giving MLO some love in this article as it was a pleasant surprise. ML and MLO users are kindred spirits, one just prefers to play humans as opposed to the cpu, but we both want a functioning myleague platform that is stable and as glitch free as possible.

Great to see a write up that does not overreacts nor understate the issues, some issues may or may not have been mentioned, but this is an honest evaluation of the state of the mode.

Having said that, as the writter does, the Devs need to be thanked and their merits need to be recoginzed, as they have made the best franchise mode within these consoles sports genre and have the foundation to do an even greater mode in the near future (looking at you PS5 version, there is no longer an excuse for having a restrictive version on updated consoles, this aint the 90s or early 2000s).

Here is to hope for some extended attention to bugs and crashes fixing. This game and mode has certaintly the outlines of GOAT in it, lets make it real, lets make it more functional.

No particular reason, we just tried to pick out a bushel of issues, if we missed one close to your heart, then it's not done with any malice. And you're mentioning it here so there's that.

Cool, my list of issues made the article. Out of the 3 I mentioned, that qualifying offer glitch is the most annoying. I can work around the other 2 glitches, but I can't seem to find a workaround for the QO glitch.

In regards to the other issues mentioned in the article, I have never noticed the Draft Class age glitch before...I am going to check that out for myself soon.

Also, my game has never crashed at the player retirement screen, or crashed at any time for that matter. I only play MyLeague offline and have never tried any of the online modes this year, maybe that has something to do with the crashing issues somehow.

And the team/player option glitch is still there. I edited my roster and removed all team and player options from basically every player to work around this glitch.

30 team control is a must in MyLeague.

Don't forget that since they introduced the historic classes, every real player has the amount of years pro they had when they retired. Incredibly annoying to go through and fix that

Appreciate the article. I think the G league progression glitch is a BIG deal.

So is the option issue, but at least I can edit contracts to work around.

With the G league glitch, even if you do G league callups/send downs as manual, the free agents that play down there still jump significantly and then the CPU signs them to big contracts in the off season.

In addition to the morale issue not being in the article another significant issue is the CPU does not sign 2nd round picks. EVER. No matter how close the cap, no matter how few roster spots filled, they do not sign 2nd round picks. Then these 2nd round picks turn around and sign 2 and 3 year deals at 3 and 4 million per season.

Also stats per 36 minutes don't work in the player stats menu.

Lord thank you guys for this write up and I appreciate the format as well. It's really a shame too cause I legit played 2k19 myleague from launch all the way to 2k20 launch.
I'm sure it's gonna be alot of work but here's hoping 2K can fix it. The player/team option one still baffles me though how does that slip out and last a month untouched lol.

Perhaps it’s a consequence of being the only game in town, with NBA Live struggling to be competitive. It’s a shame how complacent 2K has become. The QA and testing are shocking.

Yea I'm good y'all, if this game hits $20 or that $2.99 price during the finals, I would love to pick it up for the fresh roster, other than that I don't see what you're getting if you exclusively play this mode.

Really appreciate this article. I've been running franchise modes since NBA Jam 2000 on the N64. I can't tell you how many hours I've poured into specific games. I was still playing NBA Live 2004 random weekends during college back in 2011. I played an insane number of hours in NBA 2k13's association mode. Despite the issues this generation I continue to almost exclusively play MyLeague but year after year it seems we have more problems. I love the customization of this mode but what's the point of any of it if it's so dysfunctional. I really hope 2k sees this and tries to fix this mode that really could be my favorite thing in gaming ever, if only it just worked like it should. 

Side note: I'm not trying to knock the game developers either. I'm certainly no game developer and I understand the 2k staff are under a tight schedule with an annual release. It's just really bothersome that the mode is so close to absolute greatness and yet flawed in many ways.

I wish they do a MASSIVE update to the auto generated draft classes. Imagine if they were normal. Black guys look black white guys look white. Higher overalls have high shot tendency. Dynamic shot tendencies. More badges. Way more badges.

Basically draft classes that actually don't need editing. I can dream. Seems like they don't care about draft classes since we can edit ourself. I'm so sick of constant EDITING!!!!!

Another thing why know keys players in pre game EVERY game. Its so random. Should always show players stats pre game. Its a video game show all the stats. More stat overlays. Its more immersive. If anyone from 2k reads this PLEASE more myleague stat overlays. I would like to know whats going on with the other team in game.

Absolutely agreed about the stat overlays. I've been asking for years for more stat overlays, especially individual stat overlays, seems like what do get is team percentages, which is important, but there's so much more they could show. I'm a stats geek. In my opinion, they could never show enough different stats so long as it doesn't get repetitive.

A small, but important thing, that seems that it hasn't been touched is the timing on player options on rookie deals.

You don't get to player options until after the draft, so you can't trade anyone on a rookie deal because they're on "expiring deals" until then. Pretty rough to not be able to make deals with what are the most valuable assets in the league. The real NBA rookie options are accepted before the season, which if 2k moved this would easily solve this problem.

The supposed improvement of the generated rookie classes sounds really promising, but is also something I've heard before. If users can, year in and year out, create realistic draft classes... I don't see why a billion dollar company can't.

All in all though, these glitches are too much. I have bought every 2k aside from maybe one since 2k2. I only play myleague. I'm finally reaching the point of passing on it. It's clear their focus the last few years has fully shifted to the myplayer/myteam portions of the game. Which is a bummer, even if I get it financially.

Is the expectation many of these issues can/will be fixed with patches or is it completely up in the air? I'm a MyLeague guy, but I typically wait until at minimum a month into the season and use the "start today" feature to allow time for roster updates, slider guys to do their thing, and attribute updates. If I wait a month or two in and the mode is unplayable I'll be absolutely furious. I've never not been able to play the mode.
